So yeah, 700th post. Pretty special, and I have "enough" material to show for the hack I'm currently making.

I don't really care for a plot, I might just go with standard plot, etc.

This hack is mostly vanilla. I might use some ExGFX, but it'd be in the style of the original SMW, or simply extra tileset mixing like i.e. sprite tileset mixing. I'll also be using custom music, since the SMW music just won't do it for me.

Onto the screens!

Starting with some screens of a random level I started designing, but I actually decided on using:

This level doesn't yet have a real levelname or a set theme, so I don't know how the second part will turn out.

A grass level. Dunno where to put it:

An easy beginning screen.

Where'd this lead to?

Oh, darn cheep-cheeps!

Current end of the level.

My OW:

So yeah guys, updates come as I feel like doing them! Please leave some comments and critism, they're heavily appreciated.
Hey, looks pretty sweet so far! Really loving the first screenshots. The design seems very nice and the level's well decorated. The grass level also looks very nice, especially the palette and the HDMA. Well done so far! :D
Well so far it looks like a really decent vannila hack. I like the variety of colors used and how they are used. Judging by the one screen, I can say you definetly have something going for your OW. No persepective errors whatsoever from what I can see.

Thank you, buddy. You should show some updates of yours in your old thread sometime! :>

I spend a lot of time on my OWs, making them look as nice as I can. I always look for stuff that I find weird, and then edit that part specificly until I'm happy with the end result.
Is that castle/ghost house completely vanilla? If yes, then great work. It looks very nice. The grass levels has a nice palette too.
Awesome. I have to look very closely to see that it's vanilla, which is a good thing because that means you've used LM to it's fullest extent without using any external editors.
nice vanilla mix !
So in the lava castle you should try to set the level mode to 1F - it will make the lava transulent

I had to use some ExGFX to get the bowser statues and plains pipes in there, but other than that, it's all vanilla.

I try my best to keep it as vanilla as possible, but it's very had at times.

Thank you! Though, I really won't set the levelmode to 1F; I have enough to keep track of in this level (the amount of layer 1/2 tomfoolery is absurdly high (why do I expect a meme to pop up now?)). I also think it won't look all too good, because the transculent modes weren't the best.

Thanks for all your comments, guys! This makes me extra motivated to get going on a beach level!
Hm, I'm not sure about the first screens, this mix with the ghost house things and the blocks was creative, but looks kinda strange for me; the water level, looks really decent, the only problem I can see in it is than it's so empty... You can put some grounds in some empty spaces - the second screen of this level is an example - this will work; and the OW, pretty decent design and graphics, I presume you'll put decorations yet, hm?

Overall it's pretty cool. Very well done, man!
The level design look good! Also, the overworld also somewhat great too!
At first I didn't recognize you were using vanilla graphics because of the way you used the ghost house graphics and the palette with the purple and grey. Very neat and unique. Good job!
