A new hack I'm working on.

Super Mario Bros. 3 Gold Edition

It's going to be EXACTLY like SMB3 (SMAS) down to the last pixel. Well probably not due to limitations of SMW, but it's going to be as close as I can possibly make it, in effort to complete something that Pac started years ago, but a little more religious to the original game. I would have called it simply Super Mario Bros. 3 but I don't think that would have worked out.

Any recommendations? Anyone wanna help?

To do list before release v0.2:
Major:
☐ Insert Piranha Plants
☐ Insert Venus Fire Traps
☐ Insert SMB3 Brick that turns into coin while POW is active
☐ Rip Bonus Room tileset for sub-level in 1-1
☐ Complete 1-1
☐ Complete 1-2

Minor:
☐ Fix Mario OW movement speed
☐ Fix Mario OW animation

Why? Cant you just play super mario allstars.
Weird pallete, and 64x64 sprite box (behind Mario) with an unfitting color.

Bad Status Bar color.

Also, like crith said, there's a more simple way to play a SMB3 Remake: just play Super Mario All-Stars (+ Super Mario World)/Super Mario Collection.

Edit: Images removed... because the hack got removed too.

Why submit only the FIRST level to the hack database? That can be completed in like 20 seconds!

Also, a remake is pointless.
Also, a remake is pointless.

Remakes are not pointless I think mario bros 1,lost levels had weird physics and they had no world map there for pac fixed things smw & smb3 physics are the same and it has maps.

- SMB1/LL plays completely different to SMW; I assume that's just you not being used to how they play. Pac's remakes are, for the most part, just the original games with SMW's physics and a new coat of paint.
- SMB Deluxe (GBC) had a world map. (though gameplay suffered a good amount)
- The only advantage a map has is that it allows you to replay previously beaten levels.

If you aren't interested don't post in my thread.
If the hack looks like Super Mario Bros. 3, as it played. Unless y will Bonuses ...
Not to sound like a dick or anything, but is there really a reason to remake a game that's remade multiple times? I mean, it was interesting the first few times, but its kind of lost its originality.

Also, I hope you have at least have some basic knowledge of ASM, as it is required for a legitimate remake, you know, for the physics, item box changing, toad houses, bonus games and whatnot.

None the less, I bid you good luck on this.
SMB1/SMB3 remakes are a very frequent thing which is pretty bad. People will probably play the original SMB3 than your hack because it doesn't show anything new. I think making remakes is pointless and it won't make your hack famous or even enjoyable. I suggest you to make a new hack or if you really want a SMB3 based hack, use some SMB3 graphics and make an more original level than remakes. There are some SMb3 styled hacks.
