I'm not sure if this thread would also be suited for the reality corner.
This is about things you used to be afraid of, but not anymore.
-I used to be afraid to go into deep water until several years ago when I was at an indoor swimming pool and I found myself swimming near the sudden slope that connects the rest of the pool to the deep end. I found myself swimming further and further away from where I was able to stand up until I was at 8 feet. Logic dictates that if I can swim in 8 feet of water, surely I can swim in 12 feet, 18 feet, even 1000 feet deep water.
-I had also been afraid to go on roller coasters that flip you upside down until summer 2006 when my younger sister rode some looping rides with some of her friends, and then a carnival came by and I was convinced to finally try the Loop-o-Plane for the first time. After enjoying myself on it, I had no idea why I was afraid to go on looping rides in the first place. So that summer was full of trying all the looping rides and roller coasters I could.
-Today in water aerobics, we had some spare time after our synchronized swimming. The instructor let us go off the 3 meter high ledge in the deep end. After watching some of my classmates go off the 3 meter high platform, I decided to try it myself. I climbed the ladder and hesitated a little before jumping. It just felt kinda unnatural to jump from such a height. I am still kinda scared when I do it, but I could not ignore the cheering from my classmates. I can't imagine myself jumping from the 10 meter high platform anytime soon.
I had fear of jumping into a deep pool.
I only wanted to swim in 5/6 ft. pools.
But When I went to Florida around '07, there was a pool party and everyone jumped from the high-diving pool. As I saw everyone jump, splash and laugh from having Fun from the High Board.
I decided to jump for once...and I actually did and from that Day I lost my Fear of High Diving....

Another Fear...is Shyness.
My Childhood was surrounded by Shy Decisions, I had trouble doing anything in front of anyone besides my Friends & Family...

So one day I had to present a Powerpoint for a Class...
I was very nervous and I was foreshadowing what would happen it I failed on anything during the Presentation.
But I went on Youtube and watched videos of people that humiliated themselves and not be bothered by the Humilitiation.

And from that day, I followed a Quote that helped me overcome my Fear of Shyness:
"People Tend To Forget Things, No Matter how Bizzare it is - MillieMan76
If anything, I've gotten more phobic as I've grown older.
As I get older I begin to worry more about certain things; however over the years, I've gotten less shy and not as afraid of heights as I used to be.
My shyness has really dropped since I got to university (though that's not really a "fear", I guess). Aside from that, neither of my other two fears (heights, open water) have decreased at all.
Firstly, I had and still have a phobia from jumping into water. I just can't do it. Regardless how I try, there always seems to come up a notion in my head that says "But what if you can't swim up? What if you suddenly drown? And then, my entire head goes on "Do not jump". Even after I jumped once into water when my entire class was cheering at me...because they knew what problems I had and still have with jumping into water. I then jumped, and in the moment you are in the air before hitting the water, I throught "Well, now comes this great feeling from jumping everybody always is talking about." But I indeedly was not amused by the followed: I entered shock directly in the moment it splashed. Later, about 30 minutes later, I wake up on the surrounding of the swimming pool, with my classmates, my gym/swimming teacher, and the lifesaver. Strangely, I couldn't remember from what happened...But besides that, everybody, including me was happy. Then, my friend told me what happened to me, and suddenly, I remembered everything, from the moment we entered the swimming pool until when I jumped into the water. I still have a scare of that moment. I also remembered I didn't like it at all, and had a little talk with my gym teacher afterwards. He said if I am getting such problems from jumping, I don't have to jump into water anymore in my life, nor do I have to take part of the swimming lessons anymore, no more in my life. I am so happy about this concision and decision from my teacher. I still have a scare from any hard contact with masses of water, and from any type of height. To be honest, I have a scare when I stay on my chair.

About fears I've conquered, there is that one fear about spiders. Yes, I've been scared from spiders from the point I first saw one until about, a year ago when I touched one. In fact, I don't know why people even scare from spiders, they don't harm you, they aren't dangerous in any way (As far as I know) and they even are very friendly to human (Again, as far as my expieriences have been). The only thing they do is trapping insects and eating them, but they do have nothing about us. Why should we have about them?

Oh, and there also is my fear against blood I had. It lasted until my 9th year of age, and I couldn't see any blood, either mine, or from other's people or animal/anything, I even scared about fake blood used in movies! I always ran away when I saw blood, until my brother played a bad trick on me, even when it was accedentical. I was getting some Coke out of the fridge, and a glass, filled some of it into the glass, and went away to the toilet to take a piss. Meanwhile, my brother was doing something very mean, but it wasn't his fault, because he couldn't know: He had his teeth blooding on that day, but when he saw the glass of coke, he throught I made that for him, and was going to take a pull of coke, but before his mouth reached the glass, a piece of blood filled into the glass! Being the idiot he was back then, he went to the sink, clearing his teeth, without telling me there was blood in my glass, even his! I then drunk the coke, and then went to my brother, looking what he was doing. He then told me "Did you drink the coke?" to which I replied "Yes." He said then "Why? There was blood from me in it!" I freaked out, and was about to try the poke the coke (lol) out like every one child believes he can, but I couldn't, and since then, my fear against blood strangely went absent. =)

Also, what the fuck? That's a really big post.
Honestly, I've developed more fears as the years went by. I used to be afraid of just bees, wasps and hornets. Now it's all kinds of things, except deer ticks and death. I've been faced with those so many times, it's nothing new to me.
I was never really afraid of heights, although I remember at Six Flags, being afraid to go on any ride there. That was a whole year ago, though... I used to be afraid of plot twists and monsters and ghosts. One time, I even lived in a haunted house. That is why I moved out of there.
Some time ago I use to have a fear about mice, that changed when I came across a wild sewer rat in my old house one day, man that thing was huge, so I lost a fear but also gained a new one, aside from that I can't think of anything else that I'm afraid of.

Well my two main fears (heights and water) haven't ever gone away ever. But I can more easily just ignore them or avoid situations that would involve them, so I don't have to face them. I have got a little better at overcoming shyness, but again, I think that's just because I've become good at subconsciously sticking to what I know and doing what I'm good at doing.
The fear of the dead. I remember, when i was a child, i just couldn't look at pictures of dead people without having nightmares, but luckily, i got over it. But other than that:

Yes, this. Biggest and most recent fear would be brontophobia (thunderstorms), to the point of getting physical symptoms.
Dogs. I used to be scared a lot of them but I've gotten over it long since to the point where I can approach them rather easily.
Echoing SNN and Weaabuu: Shyness and dogs are two major things I've been getting over. Especially dogs. I used to be terrified of dogs for the most part, but it's honestly not a problem at all anymore.

Still freeze up in fear when a bee flies in front of me though :(.

Same here. Now, I can scare them(inb4 fake stone) instead of going on a far distance.

Thunder/Lightning SFX. I was scared on it when I was in elementary. Now, I can just listen them and do nothing.

There's probably more but I forgot those.
-Dark. I've had fear of dark before, and I even had nightmares about it. Now I'm not afraid of dark anymore, but my sister is STILL afraid of the dark, imagining there will be monsters or something like this on her room.
-Jumping on pools. I was afraid of breaking my bones when I was challenged to jump on a pool. When I was traveling to an aquatic park, a friend inspired me to overcome my fear, then I jumped on the pool, and I was safe.
-Shyness. Sometimes shyness can get in my way when talking to a girl. As time pass on, I've overcome my shyness and then I'm currently trying to get my shyness out when asking some girl to be my girlfriend.
-Insects. Those insects can bother me a lot, especially if there is a bee in my room. Bit by bit, I have learned to get prepared to play with them and kill them, except the bee, whose I am still afraid of being stung by millions of bees.
Ack! I can't believe I forgot about my fear of the dark. That used to be a HUGE problem for me, whereas now it's completely non-existant. Used to sleep with the light on and stuff for the longest time.

I remember the only reason I ever broke that habit was my parents offering me three videogames of my choice if I slept with the lights off for six months straight. Was so worth it.
Alot:

- heights
- balloons
- fireworks
- rain/thunder

I don't know anymore except those.

Okay, you'll have to explain this one.
I have conquered my fear of storms but not either my fear of water (swimming) or my fear of spiders.

Arachnophobia and Hydrophobia for the win.
Just laughed hard when I saw your post, Kaijyuu. It's fear of ballons exploding I guess?

~

Well, one thing I cannot understand is my fear of dogs. I had one when I was child, so why do I get scared with them now? When I see one I just keep as distant as I can, I get much scared to scare them, yay.

I have also fear of thunder, ballons exploding close for me, and I'm claustrophobic. I'm not sure if it counts as fear or if is just a feeling.
