Anyone getting this on PSN or Xbox Live Arcade? For those who have it, what do you think of the characters and gameplay so far?

I'm going to download it onto my Xbox tomorrow, and probably use Filia and Peacock, at least until Squigly comes out :>

Skullgirls is not for people who aren't great with 2D fighting games. I don't think I'll ever get it, but it looks like a great game for people who are able to play. I appreciate that the characters are so diverse, not only from each other, but from fighting games at large (especially Peacock, who is probably the most original fighting game character ever made). The game is stunningly drawn and animated altogether, as well.

Damn, I was really interested in this game too, but I've never owned a fighting game that wasn't street fighter 2 in my life.
I could have sworn there was a little girl with an umbrella in the roster as well, but till then I guess my favorite is Parasoul.

Well, there's no reason that you shouldn't get it, but it's just a heads-up. The game is apparently built for experienced fighting game players, but I don't think that should deter you from playing. I don't own the game myself, but I just love certain elements about the game too much. Also, you're talking about Umbrella, who'll be a character in future DLC.
The game definitely caters to people familiar with the fighter genre, but that's not to say you can't start with it. The tutorials do a good job of explaining the basics, and even the 'meta' elements of hit-confirms and mix-ups.

Anyways, I unexpectedly started to main Valentine and Parasoul. They both feel well-rounded with both projectile and melee options, and pretty easy to use supers. Filia feels like she only has a handful of tricks, and Peacock does horribly in close quarters (or at the very least, whatever melee ability she has is difficult to wield). Somehow my brother's got the hang of Peacock though, her zoning is so annoying at times.
Peacock is the only reason why I'm even interested in the game, and the reason why I wish I had a xbox 360/ps3 to play. Overall, the game looks fun, the pre-release fights on youtube are a hell of fun to watch and cheer on. The only downside for me is the (what's the right term) 'sexy' look given to 7/8 of the characters (yes, I am including double).

Peacock totally reminds me of Clayfighters 63 1/3, and her domination over the stage is a force to be reckoned with, though if she is trapped, users will most likely be in a world of pain. From what I saw, the greatest threat to Peacock may be Parasoul/Ms. Fortune with her head off.

The fighting system looks pretty cool as well, where the matches can vary from 1v1 to 3v3 to 2v3 etc. I'd totally buy it if I had the system/had less fan-service.

I entirely blame Lucas for my interest in a game I'll never be able to own.

You're welcome.

Please link me what you've seen of Parasoul beating Peacock, because honestly that's my worst matchup right now. Parasoul's pokes and tears are too slow to get past her onslaught of garbage, and I always end up switching to an air-dash character. Hell, even Cerebella has an easier time by using her j.HP.

Also, the fanservice is not that huge a part of the main game. They advertise it a whole lot, but there's no way you could conceivable pay attention to anything else but the action when you're actually playing. That's like the equivalent of playing Touhou for the brief glimpses of the girls between the shitstorms of danmaku. Are there going to be pervy fans talking about the girls online? Hell yeah, but that by itself does not make the game overly sexual (if so, Touhou and Pokemon would be considered the raunchiest games of all time).
Even though I won't play it I have one word to say:
Valentine.

;D

I really like the art style of this game <3 I'll have to find someone with it to play it as I don't have any console it's for </3
Voice actors of Skullgirls playing as their own characters

My GOSH, that is FREAKING HILARIOUS! XD I love how they're actually talking in-character for the most part, too. How on EARTH did you find this, Lucas?
Dammit, severe lack of skullgirls love here D:

I play as Cerebelle and Parasoul. The engine is definitely geared towards veterans of the classic fighting genre, but it's incredibly fun.

If anybody wants to add me and play, feel free to (tag is Atmapalazzo)

Also to everyone who doesn't have a 360 or PS3:

It's coming out on PC as well
