Is there any way to test a song port before inserting it?

Before I took a break from hacking, I tried a bit of porting. I was pretty happy with what I was able to do, but one of the most annoying parts about it was constantly having to insert the music, load up the game, listen to it, tweak it, and repeat the proccess until it sounded right.

Is there any sort of program that can read notes from the text files and (using SMW instrument samples or other ones defined by the user) play what the song would sound like in SMW without having to insert it every time? Does any tool like that exist that would allow someone to tweak a custom song on the fly, allowing the porter to play back either part or all of the song, make small changes, and play it back again without having to insert it into the game every time?
Not that we know of at the moment however the closest thing we have to that is the tool A Mad Scheme made by Kipernal. It uses a tracker and lets you use SMW instruments, effects and allows you to listen to it ahead of time. I personally can't give any advice on how to use it because I never got around to learning it.
Well, I looked up Kipernal's files and found it, but from a quick look at the program and read through the readme file, I'm not seeing much that helps. From what I see, it looks only to be a tool to port .mod files with no explanation or obvious method of doing the sort of thing I'm asking about.

Another thought I had... Is there any way of having a midi editor play Super Mario World instruments? Not quite what I originally had in mind, but that would still be much better than my old method of blind trial and error.
There is an smw soundfont for FL Studio, you might be able to copy the MIDI notes onto a piano roll with the SMW instruments. Again this is something I don't normally do but it's one method I'm aware of.
Ok, so here's where I am... I downloaded FL studio and tried to find a good SMW soundfont. I did get one, but it was incomplete, lacking a number of instruments.

At this point, I'm trying to either find a complete SMW soundfont, or failing that, make one of my own. I still haven't found a good tutorial on how to do that (but haven't had much time to look yet), but it seems like a safe assumption that I'm going to have to rip samples from SMW to do it. I downloaded the SNES Sound Ripper from the tools section, but the tool isn't compatible with Windows 7, so at the moment, I'm stuck...

TL;DR -

*Does anyone have or know where I can get a complete SMW Soundfont?
*Could someone please explain or point me to a tutorial that explains how to rip samples. I looked but couldn't find one.
*For that matter, if anyone knows of one, a tutorial explaining how to create a soundfont wouldn't hurt. I'm not as concerned about that at the moment since I haven't had enough time to look on my own and I'm not at the point where I'm ready to give up on that yet.
