Well guys my hack got rejected unfortunately. Can't say I didn't expect it to, as my "Going with my own flow" attitude has really kicked in lately. But after reading most of the reasons, I'm really pissed off. I suppose my way of designing, is different from the standers of the site but whatever. I'll fix the actual errors that were pointed out sometime this week, but as for resubmitting it here? Well I have no desire on submitting any hacks here for a long while as my spirit is kind of broken now. I know that I may be taking things a bit further then I should...but whatever.
I'll work on yet what appears to be another update again and post here with the update. I'm just going to..leave it at this before I rant with something I know I'll regret. Now you don't have to wait around for the update as the hack is still perfectly possible to play without it, so if you still want to play the hack, there's still the "Other download links". I guess you can just consider this not a official submission or something. Thanks for the positive comments and feedback this far though, I really do appreciate it you guys.
-Your friend that's evil.
Edited: Maybe when this whole thing blows over, I'll resubmit it but it's a no as of now.

The mods are just trying to mold our way of design philosophy into theirs. Individuality will cease to exist with each removed hack that strays from their design philosophy. Any dissenters will have their hacks removed. Guidelines are turning into rules at a steady pace. They are working on a one size fits all algorithm for designing "good" hacks.
Feel free to call me overdramatic with that previous statement. I didn't read most of the removal log due to level design spoilers (which doesn't make much sense because I've seen most of your level videos thus far) so I don't know how much of it I personally would disagree with. I think some stuff that would be hard or impossible to fix due to limited palettes and resorting to using map16 for stuff because of said limited palettes from custom graphics should generally have no place in a hack removal log, especially one where the mod had fun with it despite getting removed. I didn't quite notice Mute's graphics being too simplistic nor did I care.
I had fun with it despite the flaws. Not sure if this was pointed out in the log, but there were a couple places in worlds 1 and 2 where I could enter into an endless bonus game. But I have common sense.
As for whether or not I expected this hack to get removed, it wasn't totally unexpected, but it was still kind of a shock.

I just read all of the removal reasons and I have to disagree with some of them, I mean, whats wrong with the intro and credits being auto scroll cut-scenes? Also some of the errors are even in my hack and my hack got accepted! Not fair to a peace of hard work that deserves to be in the hack section, bugs or not.
As of the note, I think the Mute graphics is fine, that could just be me being use to using Jill as a character in my paused hack.
If you need more help EG, I could make you some Mute OW graphics if you may

Well thanks guys for at least understanding some things. I mean a few reasons were legitimate I suppose but I saw nothing major that it deserved to get removed over. Well I'm in a better mood as I just needed
to calm down and relax. Don't get me wrong, I'm still not happy about the removal log as I hope at least a few things would be taken into consideration, such as maybe I ran out of palette space for the goal blocks in such but that wasn't the case at all. Despite that, I decided that I'll resubmit here again after all, after the update is finished. I just request that somebody different can moderate it as it didn't really seem fair. But if I get the exact same results then I guess I just won't be submitting the hack here.
Anyways, update coming June 11th or sooner.

Just a suggestion though that you could make a message box saying "Exit blocks come in all sorts of colours, secret exit or not!" That way the mods can understand why you actually did that (make it seem on perpous [Damn I can't spell purpous DX] but not really)

Oh, I just noticed the comments about my removal log (I don't check this forum very often), I hope it's not to late for me to reply.
Anyway, it's true that hack moderation is aiming towards the mainstream audience, but that doesn't mean we want to enforce our own philosophies or get rid of hacking individuality; every single hack is unique, and the possibilities to design a level are endless in any audience. Besides it's not like if we, hack moderators, modified the hack without telling the authors, we simply point out the mistakes in the hack and let the authors fix them as they see it fit.
About this particular removal log, the main issue with the hack was about level design, mostly about the empty segments everywhere. Things like Mute's graphics, or the ender blocks having different palettes were just some random advises you can use, but they weren't really removal reasons on their own. As long as you fix the empty segments and other technical issues like some sprite disappearing, the midpoints that reappear or the ones that let me skip parts of the levels, the misplaced slopes, the world 4 boss being too hard and a few more, everything should be fine.
I'm glad you decided to re-upload the hack despite everything, I'll be looking forward for the next update. By the way, if you have any questions or you disagree with anything about the removal log feel free to send me a PM, diplomacy has always been a better solution than ranting.

Well admittedly, I overreacted pretty bad and I'd like to apologize for that. Though I feel just a few things can be overlooked, I can see where some parts would get boring or repetitive. I decided to follow the advice and just change those parts. Things like graphics, I wouldn't mind changing them If I knew how as I'm unexperinced when it comes to drawing but maybe I can add some shading to Mute or something. Basically I shouldn't have took it as "Hack Moderators Being too picky," and realize they're just trying to help you improve the hack. I'd still like to keep submitting hacks here and such.
Well the reason I haven't resubmitted yet was because the update is still not finished but it's almost. Haven't had too much time to work on it lately but still plan on resubmitting. Hopefully it's more accepatable then the last.

Hey guys, just like to mention I haven't forgot this. Infact I've pretty much almost done with this but I have a small announcement to make. I decided that I'm going to make a Super Mario World: The After Years + (Plus). Now what this means is, I'm basically going to be changing up the hack a lot and doing a lot of the upgrade so here's what you can expect form this.
1. Levels - I'll be upgrading the levels quite a bit, meaning basically revamp anything I feel needs to happen. I'll be also making the levels less linear, meaning add more bonus areas in such. I made some of these levels awhile ago so I feel like I can improve some of them.
2. Graphics - I'll be kind of upgrading the graphics of the hack. Sometimes I feel like they go together well and sometimes I feel like they kind of clash. Also I'll upgrade graphics such as coin blocks in such (Even some things added to the overworld.) I want to try and improve Mute's graphics a bit but I'm still learning the basics so it might be hard. Basically I just want to make everything fit together well. Well...I did make this hack around the time when I thought it was cool to have custom graphics lol.
3. Overworld - Speaking of the Overworld, after while of thinking, I want to redo the whole overworld. Though I'm still very basic at Overworld designing, I feel I can do better still. So I want to try and improve it a lot. This make time the most time though.
4. Extra Content - Well there's going to be a few extra levels added to the hack as well as maybe a few levels that no longer exist. There may be just a few extra bosses as well. (Mainly mid bosses.) I'll be making a SMW: The After Years Hard Mode as well, for those are interested in a challenge.
Basically I just want to upgrade this hack even more. Not saying that I'm unsatisfied with it, it's I've actually learned even more about level design and just want to add more of what I learned. The only down fall is that those waiting for the update might have to start from the beginning sadly due to change of events in such but the plus side is that you'll be playing the improved version of the hack. The first version of the hack will still be available though, it just won't be the official release.
Anyways just thought I should mention this. If anybody has any pointers or suggestions, feel more then free to post them here. This should still take a week or two to finish as I've mentioned to a few people on youtube.
(Also everything aj6666 mentioned is pretty much fixed.)

Well after 3 long months, the update of the SMW: The After Years is finally complete. This update includes,
(Taken straight from the read me.)
1. New and Revamped levels: Well there isn't actually any extra levels but some levels have been revamped completely to where they can be considered new. Some of the old levels are still there but a bit more updated. Some levels are a bit less linear and there are a some bonus areas added to the levels in such.
2. New Overworld: While it may not be an over the top overworld, I still tried my hardest to make it. (No laziness or half effort.) Good effort should count for at least something. There are also a few event changes in such. There were a few dead end levels that were useless to play at first but every level that is a dead end now are somewhat important. (You no longer access the special world the same way anymore.)
3. New & Updated Graphics: A few levels have graphics changed around in such. There are also a few levels that I've edited the graphics myself in YYCHR, like Starlight Park.
4. Bosses: A few boss fights were changed around and World 2 now has a different boss then before. Also redid the final boss fight. (The early version was kind of blah.)
5. Cut scenes & Knock Back: Cut scenes are now able to be skipped and the knock back effect was decreased a lot. I couldn't get rid of it fully sadly but you should have more control of how far you get hit back.
6. Soundtrack: A lot of tracks for the levels were changed around. I tried to go with more underused tracks or just tracks I like a lot. (Regardless of being overused.)
So yeah, to any of you who are unfamiliar with the hack, I hope you give it a try as a lot of hard work was put into this. (And the word testing is burned into my skull.) If you have any questions concerning the hack please feel free to PM me. Feel free to let's play, playthrough, walkthrough, TAS or Speed Run.
I shall submit the hack here just as soon as I'm not half awake.

Hope you enjoy!
(Let's hope I didn't forget anything.)

Hope you have fun man. Looking forward to seeing your LP of it.
Also the hack has been resubmitted on this site! To view a few screen shots of the update, see the SMWC submission.

Also to those who've started the hack already before these download links, switch to these versions. I forgot a little something. (To delete a door in a later level.) In order to not lose progress, delete your currently patched smc file "only" then use these IPS.
Important Note: Make sure you find a save point first!
Edited: The Links are updated again.

I think I'll wait a bit till I get used to playing hacks on a laptop keyboard (seems so much harder now than with a regular keyboard. For some reason I can't do anything if more than three keys at once are pressed).

Everybody switch to these recent updated links. I seem to have forgotten something in sky factory that most likely wouldn't pass moderation. (Of course, the one room In the hack I don't check has that, story of my life really..)

Yes it should. All I did was delete a few things, didn't mess with the overworld.

I'm happy to announce that Super Mario World: The After Years (Ultra) has officially been accepted to Super Mario World Central. (Thanks for moderating the hack Raibys.) I'd just like to thank everybody for the overall support in the making of The After Years. I worked really hard to make this hack worthwhile and acceptable to the site's standers over the years so I'm glad it's finally able to be hosted on the site.
So yeah, I guess I can officially say the hack's finished unless something else comes up. So I guess now it's safe to move on to the sequel of this series which is currently named Super Mute World - Episode 2 which can be found in the thread link below. (Hasn't been updated for awhile but it's still being worked on.)
Super Mute World - Episode 2 Thread Link
So yeah I guess that's all I have to say for now. I'll be making a Hard Mode version of this hack in the near future though it probably won't be a official release. For those of you who have already played and completed the hack, please leave a review as I'd really like to hear your thoughts and opinions and how I can improve. And for those of you who haven't played the hack, please give it a shot.
Well that's it for now. If anybody has any questions regarding the hack or just need assistance, feel more then free to PM me or post here. Thank you for your time.
