This is my Hack's thread. It is called Plum Butter.

Story:
There is a blizzard in the Mushroom Kingdom.
There's nothing to eat, no plum butter...nothing.
So Mario decided to search for a land where he can find plum butter.

Level 1 - FG and BG by me
Level 2 - FG by Nep-Enut, BG by me
Level 3 - FG by me

Layer 3 is made by Nep-Enut in all the screens and the blocks and coins are also by Nep-Enut :3

I like what I am seeing so far, from what I am looking The level design looks good. Some of the graphics look kinda rough and could use a little work in places, some re shading and anti-aliasing here and there and it would look fantastic.

Other than that, this hack looks like it has potential. I cant wait for more:)

Well yeah, this is looking pretty swell so far. The graphics fit together awesomely well and I must say I like your style. The level design looks pretty good too, although there are a few empty spots here and there, but I'm sure you won't notice that too much ingame. What I really like about this is that you've got many levels that are different from eachother, with small gimmicks/special themes. It makes a hack more fun to play.

Good luck with this, hope you finish it.

I hope that too. I purely can't finsih my old hack "Mario's Legend of the 5 Stars", because my Laptop died and I have nothing from the hack anymore ;w;

Sooo, time to comment those new screenshots! :>

Upper-left: I really like the Koopa and Pokey graphics, as well as the palm. Nice work!

Upper-right: I hope those coins are animated. Oh, and are the statues moving ore stationary?

Middle-left: Oh yeah, animated coins, I see. Nice rock graphics.

Middle-right: Winter-style, eh? Love the BG-GFX and the note blocks. The purple grass seems kind of odd, though.

Lower-left: Again, awesome BG and nice ledge tiles.

Lower-right: I hope those Koopas have another frame.. xD Oh, and neat NSMB ?-Block, really like the looks of that.

All in all, the hack seems like a nice NSMB styled hack that will be hopefully fun to play. Can't wait for it.

P.S.: Random story right there. I mean.. plum butter, really? xD
The Koopa is animated in 3 or 4 frames :3

I'm loving that HDMA gradient in the desert screenshots :>

I also like the purple FG palette a lot, my only complain is that you could put a "shade" in the transition between the snow and the dirt...
I have got new stuff for you guys :D

The second world of the hack will be an island. The first part (3 levels + fortress) will be desret and the second part (3 levels + castle) will be the beach.

Really liking the GFX choices you have there! There so bright and lively!

Level design seems to look fun to! Keep it up :D

W2 - Level 3:
I would enable the priority for the quicksand , so that Mario is behind that. Would look betther IMO. The quicksand comming out of the pipe also looks kinda off, maybe a little bit thinner? Otherwise, the level looks really nice. Especially the Background with the 2 layers is nice.

W3 - Level 1:
Woah, thats some pretty nice gift you got there. Awesome FG GFX. I don't know why, but the background looks kind of different in terms of style than the other ones. But I can't put my finger on it. Oh, and I hope the water is animated. =P

W2 - Part 2 - Level 2:
I may have said it before, but the mushrooms look awesome. : D
The star coins are coded by you, aren't they? I like them, even if they are pretty big.

W2 - Part 2 - Level 3:
Mhm, I hope that will be a good water level. Typically I hate them. But as always, nice work with the graphics. Really like the water and the background - and the fact that there is some air and not completely underwater.

One simple thing for the end: Why do you use the vanilla mario? Your hack is obviously in the style of NSMB, everything looks like that: The sprites, the enemies, the FG, the BG, everything but Mario. I like the way you drew an outline for these NSMB Koopas - maybe you could do that to Mario too, or at least find one that looks more NSMB-styled. ;0

Also, the priority of the quicksand isn't enabled, because it wasn't enabled in NSMB. :P
The purple water is of course animated ;D
Btw - these Koopas aren't from NSMB, these are rips from Koopas of another game

And the star medal have to be 32x32 'cause it resembles the one of SM3DL and this one is that big ^^
