Yeah, I hate the new map16 page since LM brought it out. This is uncomfortable bullshit.
I have downloaded http://www.smwcentral.net/?p=showexgfx&id=2539
and wanted to use them as title screen for a 1-level-hack.
In normal LM you can klick on any tile in the background editor and the map16 editor would switch to this page, so you can copy it correctly (.bin) and don't have to rebuild the complete background. Now i have a shitty messed up background and I don't want to copy it on each free map16 page to find out where to place so that I don't have to puzzle this BG together. Why is hacking so hard? Things like these kill my motivation when I have to start a little hack over and over again, I just want to use some BGs.

There is a way to change which tiles the pre-set background is using to the new location of the tiles. I forget how at the moment, but you could find it in LM's help file.

Double click on the tile, and it'll still do that.

Yes, it's in the "Level" menu, "Add offset to background tiles".

The background Map16 enhancement in LM 1.7 is really neat actually - it's a shame people get so bad first impressions of it due to old stuff being a little harder to insert.
You're German, aren't you? Here's a tutorial I wrote on background inserting in LM 1.7+, in case that's what you need (couldn't quite understand what exactly you were having trouble with).

SMW is by far the easiest game to hack, and there's really only few improvements left to wish for. Not to forbid you feeling this way or anything, but personally I think one should be grateful SMW hacking has been made so easy.

Yeah, I'll try it later. I think that's it.

Yeah, I know even if I'm not hacking Pokemon or Megaman, but there are so many ways to crash a ROM and it seems that I'll do everything to make the ROM crash, even if I'm doing the simplest things. SMW isn't made for using so much custom stuff so I'm not wondering, but anyways it's sometimes more than hard to create a good hack if you loose your motivation over and over again.

Question cleared.

You're working with something that was never intended to be edited at all. If the designers and programmers that made the game had a glimpse of the future and saw what we were up to, they'd probably be utterly bemused.
If you want easy, go get Game Maker. Otherwise, learn to deal with lack of motivation; it's something that gets in the way of all creative projects, especially long and arduous ones like game design.

The question of this thread is already cleared, why is another discussion starting here now?
If you see this thread close please, I don't have the nerves to discuss about random things now.
