I like anime (watch it every day), listen to the music, would love to try the food, and will need to understand the culture for hacking purposes, since it interested me enough to start a hack about it.
I guess I'm Japanophilic. One of the things I'd like to do before I go kapoot is visit the place; possibly live there for a bit (of course, I'd like to do the same in a few other countries as well).

I suppose I would consider myself to be a Japanophiliac. Where I live I (like everyone else in the area) am rather sheltered from out of country influence; this is of course with exception our familial European background. However, I'm rather interested in experiencing different cultures, trying different things, and finding my own tastes that are out of my immediate realm of knowledge. I'm all for tradition and what is known, but I'd rather like to try something new where possible.
That being said, Japanese culture is one of those things that I find interesting. I mean I enjoy reading manga, watching the occasional anime, partaking in kendo practices, and learning the language. (Unfortunately, I kind of hit a wall when I had to try and teach myself kanji characters. I found that to be rather daunting.) I suppose the reason that I find Japan, and Japanese culture to be interesting is because it is something new and fresh that is not really known where I live.

I have bit of Japinophilia myself. But its rare( not too rare ) to see me watch anime often. I do like Pokémon, Digimon, Yu-Gi-Oh, Touhou, Japanese folklore and a few others, but I am also drawn to Greek Mythology and other ancient European folklore.

I think the answer would be "partially". It's been a long time since I've watched anime or read manga (though I did it a lot in the past), and I think the only Japanese food I've ever tried is sashimi (bleah), but one of my friends told me sushi is the best thing, so there's that? I'm really interested in the language itself, though. I just like listening to someone, be it a real person or a fictional character, speaking in Japanese; it just sounds so nice, and I'd really love to learn the language, no matter how hard that would be. And I find the Shinto religion to be really interesting; I've had the desire to learn more about it after playing Touhou and Okami.
So yeah, I guess "partially" would be the best answer in this situation.

I wouldn't call myself a Japanophile or weeaboo or whatever, but I used to be into anime (now I just watch the occasional OVA or movie like Grave of the Fireflies or Elfen Lied), I typically favor Japanese made games (mostly because practically every locally developed game I've played in the past five years has been little more than action movie cliches, half-assed controls, and testosterrific explosions and shit), I am still somewhat interested in learning the language (I started learning a long time ago and am too lazy to continue), and I have a lot of interest in their culture.
The main thing that I found interesting about Japanese culture was how just the way you say something can mean something else entirely. Which is also what got me interested in the language, because there's so much depth to it. Also, kanji. It would make learning Chinese far easier.
Also, I like Nightmare and AKFG (actually I liked them and shortly thereafter learned they've done a lot of anime stuff, but I hardly watch anime anyways, so whatever) along with a lot of other visual kei bands. I also listen to Korean and Chinese music though, but I primarily listen obscure American stuff.
So yeah, I wouldn't really call myself a Japanophile or whatever, but I do have a lot of interest in their culture and language and I also happen to like games and music from there.

I do have a fascination with Japanese culture, but it's far removed from any kind of Japanophilia. Thinking back on it, I've been raised throughout most of my life on both Japanese and Western entertainment, so my enjoyment of either depends purely on quality, rather than any kind of love for a nation or culture beforehand. Also, I was once a Japanophile around middle school... it was a dark time that I'd rather not go into detail about.

I'd consider myself a light Japanophile. I do not obsess over the country as if it were the godlands, however, I do play a wide assortment of Japanese Video Games, and watch a ridiculous amount of anime. However, I will never go out of my way to go and waste my money on collectibles, or cosplay, or even bother to show profound love for a certain series. I mostly only watch animes that have 20-30 episodes, and I will never I bother watching or reading the insanities that are the Naruto or Bleach series.
Pop-Culture is also something that does not interest me in Japan either, I'm much more into the traditional culture of Japan. It seems that most pop-culture nowadays just gives me a headache with how absurd people are trying to be nowadays. I don't know, there's just something intriguing about the myths and legends ancient people created in their time, it truly is a testament to the imagination of those people.
I've taken Japanese language classes for a year now, so make of that what you will.

Kanji change every so often. New ones are added, and old ones become obsolete. Also, the ones that look and have the same meaning as Chinese characters have a good chance of being pronounced in a totally different way, so I guess you can decide if that's a hindrance or help.

Totally, I've been trying to learn Japanese for the past few month or so I don't even remember anymore. I think the culture's interesting (And food-wise I REALLY wanna try out takoyaki since octopus is おいしい!!,) but I'm really just in it so I can play games and watch anime and junk in raw japanese and not have to wait forever on translators and the likes.
Since pokemon black 2 didn't have kanji in the text due to it being more of a child-focused game, I was able to read all of the game's text and... sort of understand some things, but it made me realize I've still got a long way to go.

I don't consider myself a Japanophile anymore.
I used to obsess over the country and everything relating to it but realized that it's fucking stupid. I've lost almost all interest in the language as well but I'm trying to get back into it seeing that I made decent progress and throwing that away now would be dumb. Though I won't deny that learning it is annoying as fuck and the loads of Kanji is making it unnecessarily harder and drains all the fun out of it.
I love Japan's food as well as I do their media but I haven't cared much about it lately. I'm also still importing stuff from there e.g. figures or shirts but not in the ridiculous amount I used to. And of course visiting the country is also on my to-do list for the next few years.
Blah.

10 years later: SMWCentral user gets cancer.
I personally think Japanophilia is plain retarded, but I occasionally do eat Americanized sushi. Tastes good, but do I care?
And I just realized that kanji is chinese. Do I care? Not really.

Why's that? Don't like people getting passionate about other cultures, or just Japanese culture in particular?

"Japanophile", that term is pretty off-putting from my view, haha
anyway um no I don't think so. Although I do like some japanese music, like two animes and I do have an interest in the language, I don't think this is enough to qualify for hardcore superstar japanophile status.
oh and touhou is cool so yeah there's that in the bag
although I will admit I have a fondness for the females there, haha
;edit]: oh and gainax is just the cruellest thing ever but I love them so. so there's another thing I guess

Japan has a lot of things to like, a large industry for games and animation as well as an interesting heritage, culture, and mythology. Now, a lot of countries have the latter, but the former is what really makes it stand out. From such a small country you have this huge concentration of animation and games (both official, fan, and indie). This large amount of fan content really makes their web culture interesting. I also like their music (even J-pop). This is definitely not to say everything from Japan is automatically good, there's good and bad of everything. There's just such a large amount of quantity that you're bound to find a lot of quality somewhere in there. Regarding the language, I wish they had a language that wasn't complicated bastardized Chinese. I've learned the kana and picked up on some grammar. I may go and learn the rest of the grammar but I don't really intend to pour time into learning kanji. If I need, I'll use a kanji dictionary. All in all I guess I'm a japanophile but I don't act obsessive.

japanophile, for me, thats hard to completely describe myself as, i love the animes and games and music, but i somewhat grew up around that with what happens with the world overtime.
my dad's side of the family is actually japanese and as a result, i grew up eating the food. by staying with my mom's side of the family, i didnt grow up around native speakers and never learned the language.

Well, I like anime, pretty much all of my favorite games are Japanese, absolutely love Japanese food to death, want to study Japanese, and think Japan would be an interesting place to visit, but I don't know if I could call myself a "Japanophile". Probably somewhere close to it at least.
I will say I could eat Japanese food every day for the rest of my life and be happy. Especially spicy salmon sushi. The stuff is incredibly tasty to me.

honestly, not really.
i don't watch anime extensively, i only check out the first few episodes of something someone recommends and if i like it i'll watch the rest over the course of the following weeks. and i haven't even done that in years.
the only remotely japanese bands i listen to is maximum the hormone and sometimes polysics because my brothers listen to them a lot. as far as food goes, i really like sushi, but it isn't worth going out of my way and spending a million dollars that i don't have on. besides, whenever i have it, it's from some chinese buffet, so wrap your head around that if you really want.

Excluding the fact that we all have an obsession with hacking a 20+ year old Japanese video-game, how many of you would consider yourself a fan of Japan? If you are, why?
Other than my love for manga and GOOD Anime, and video games, I have no liking to the rest of it. [However, I wouldn't mind learning Japanese.] I don't like Sushi or any type of seafood, the culture is too oversaturated here.
We have anime conventions here, where I live. I go, but not for the atmosphere or the people. Most of the people I've seen at these cons were weeaboos who were blasting Nyan Cat and doing their God-awful Caramelldansen imitations.
I have noticed, however, if you stamp "Made in Japan" on something it can sell for (and I don't know how to word this correctly) 20% more money than it would normally go for.
All in all, I like the manga. I like the anime. Anime sometimes turns me onto their music, I.E. Ready Steady Go (Fullmetal Alchemist theme), and other times makes me want to kill a large portion of western society (the weeaboos)
If you're one of these people and you stumble over this post, it's nothing personal. I'm not trying to flame or bash any one type of fan of any culture, I just have a certain disliking for a certain thing.
