Welcome to my RP thread. It is my intent on setting up a fun environment to play in my story's world (which some of you aren't too familiar too and I'll explain).

I also have the channel #desteria open for this thread. Please leave all questions there or PM me.

Important links:
Story thread - must read!
Story Download - important
Maps

The above is to get yourself familiar with this world.

Now this RP will take place in Glynn, Ventara in Desteria. You are one of the many people captured long ago for experimentation. Some of you might have been once human and left for dead in Lab 32 while others were lucky enough to escape before the tragedy that has befallen Lab 32. (So if you want to make a character to join in, you can be a Human, Dragon, Kingrayon, etc, more details in "creation instructions".) And as we go, we might meet up with a few more along the way. Timing is crucial and certain moments may be best to PM me if you want to join in.

If you wish to join in, you should follow the below instructions on what is "allowed" and you should create your character in the character thread and specifically state that the character is for this thread. This is to prevent confusion and to have unique back stories and such developed for characters of this RP.

What I'd like to see from your character:
Something stating that this character is for this RP.
Name:
Age:
Gender: (Male, Female, Unknown)
Personality:
Race: Human/Dragon/Bird/Fish/Lizard/Etc (I would like you to PM me if you have something quite unusual or something quite unique. Just so I know what to expect.)
Height:
Weight:
Hair/Scale/Etc color: (Mention any relevant colors if you could.)
Eye color: Green, they are eyes that can see your very being.
Description: (Should include a description of all possible forms if possible. This should also apply to the above as well.)
Bio: (We would like to know how you fit in and what made this character who s/he is today.)
Abilities: (While you don't have to list EVERY one you may eventually learn as it is expected you might know some eventually, list some ones you may know. Never know when you might be called on to use it.)

And anything else that will help identify you better. You don't have to make it all complete now but over time you should grow as a character and have more things known.

Character Creation Instructions and Role Playing:
Note that I will state IN this post when or not 'something big is happening' so that you can join.
You want to join and nothing big is happening:
-Create Character Thread like specified
-Try to introduce yourself as neatly as possible to the other characters. Try to blend in. (Don't break character, if you have questions, PM me.)
-Enjoy the RP!
You want to join and something big is happening:
-PM me with your character information. I will notify you when it will be possible to join and then follow the instructions above this one.
Already have a character and want another:
-Simply follow the first section instructions. Same basically applies to additional characters as it does first ones.
General Rules
-Don't post if you haven't made a character for this thread. Try to PM me if we're in the middle of some big event. I will find a way to introduce you.
-No Breaking Character for anything unless it is deathly important. Keep it to PMs or #desteria on irc.caffie.net.
-No "godmode" or anything. If I say you were injured, you were. If you have unique conditions then they must be discussed with me.
-Killing off characters generally shouldn't happen unless they are 2d ones made by me or ones pointed out by others who aren't meant to be main characters. If you want to stop suddenly or want a certain character to perhaps die, you should try to PM me in advance. Do not post about it as we want to have others give genuine emotions to the event and not "know about it". Please post about sudden absences in #desteria and/or PM me.
-Have fun! Seriously, that's the point. ;)
-Possibly discuss all interactions with the character's owner through PM (like if they are going to meet or such and then have one person posts the results or part of the results)
-While it isn't required, please disable your layout for all posts here. It will prevent problems down the road with readability.

List of Main Characters - Join status: OPEN

Sorry if it looks scary. Basically just create your character and have fun. I just wanted to state some of the above before we begin. This isn't supposed to be 100% like my story so there's a lot I will let fly. Just no god moding and talking out of character randomly. I might add more later but for now, enjoy! Let us begin, shall we?
If you must MUST break character, please use something like this: (If you have questions, PM me. I will edit this thread as needed. I want to keep it as uncluttered as possible)
Try to keep it out of the thread though.

-------------------------------------------------

Scrydan woke up on a wonderful Tuesday morning. He looked around and noticed that something was different about today. Something must be going on in Lab 32. Maybe what he heard would be true. Experiments were seen leaving the lab recently. Perhaps more poor innocent victims are waking up. I should check it out.

Inside the lab were a lot of old chairs covered in dust and everything around the lab seemed dead. Although some of the monitors have been used recently. Someone must have used it recently and probably more. It looks like a girl has been looking at her profile here. She is probably traveling to Sundurfal. I might catch her a bit later if I fly to Dagger Kill. She might be seeking answers. Sara, is it? Hmm, I heard about her from Dauru. He is one of them cult leaders of the Scarlet Flame. He is interested in her and anything he is interested in can't be too good.

After some traveling, Scrydan came across the room that didn't look too well. It looked trashed and from the looks of it, a brute was here. This can't be too good. That brute probably works for Mazon. I better find some others before that brute does. I can't have some of them working for that man. And so Scrydan looked for others who might now just be waking up from their experiment hibernation in their cells. They must be quite hungry and tired by now. Even if some of them might not be human anymore.

NK5 Delta started up suddenly. After going through the usual start up protocols, and remembering what happened the previous day. He then proceded to look around, and saw one of the humans experimented on inside Lab 32 looking inside his drawers. So, the rumors are true,. He stood up and said, "Excuse me, sir, but why are you raiding my drawers?" in his usual robotic tone.

The man took up the drawer and threw it at Delta, who quickly jumped out of the way. Delta used his slow motion vision and saw the insanity of the man before him. He had huge strenght and muscles, sure, but his face was sacred and ripped, with his eyes showing pure yellow, a sigh that he had been exposed to too many chemicals to ever come sane again.

Knowing that he would have to kill the man, he stopped his slow motion vision and jumped at him. Ristraning him with his left arm and legs, he used his right arm to send a electronic shock through the man's temples, killing him. Knowing there would be more to come, Delta walked through his door and started to head to the centre of Lab 32.

After hearing many blasts and such, Scrydan remembered some cyborg experiments being possibly done. What has Chester Fickle been up to? I heard from Dauru that he's done some crazy things but this is ridiculous. It has been years since he evacuated this Lab. The only people might might remain are thieves and madmen due to the experiments and treasure said to be here. I'm hoping there's some who might want answers and aren't insane from it all.

The lab walls of Lab 32's halls were cold and dark, like an black obsidian maze. Some blood was seen in certain cells, both human and other creatures. It was fresh. Scrydan's scales seemed to have stiffened if that was possible. The electronics and gates are malfunctioning a bit too. This isn't good, this place might go through a automatic lockdown and self destruction if nothing is done. I might see if I can't find my way to the main monitoring room and see if I can't get some of these doors unlocked. There appears to have been fresh food delivered recently. The smell of freshly baked bread was in the air. The aroma of the smell was quite mouth watering. It is quite apparent that he was not alone. He is here again. Dauru, that wizard is quite trouble if he is still here.

...meanwhile in another part of Lab 32...

"Yes, master. I will look for them." The dark cloaked man walked off from an source of light brighter than the sun. "See to it that you do not fail me. The Scarlet Flame must persevere, Dauru. There's a machine in that lab and I demand that we use it for our purposes." The thundering voice of Nurinethan was heard. Dauru laughed to himself. "Yes, yes, I will. My power over the Ablu de Folraise is unmatched. I can simply hack his system without the use of Green Golagoo." The source of the light was seen no more. It was of magic that allowed him to communicate to Nurinethan.

I shall do this a different way. Nurinethan wishes me to use a direct approach and I will do it the simple way...hehe. I'll allow that dragon to see that machine and somehow have them join together. They will battle against Mazon's forces like puppets to a string. What fools. It is a good thing our enemies dance like this or we might have trouble. They will belong to us all soon enough. However, perhaps I should aid and gain their trust a bit as well. Fuel their hate and use confusion against them. Dauru walked off in the shadows of the lab and disappeared.

Faint whirs echoed through the ruined room. Beneath a desk, a crumpled, dented body, which had been all but lifeless a moment before, was attempting to revive itself.

The surface of the body's skin began to glow with a faint green light, indicating that its systems were operational.

100%

Its eyes opened, and it sat upright, slowly and roboticly. At this point, the being's robotic traits were obvious despite its true biological nature.

It looked around the room, eyes searching for any sign of life. It did not detect any, so if focused on nothing, at if speaking to a specter.

"User input is required," came out the pre-programmed script, "To my knowledge, this is a first-time startup. If you have application-specific PEAP data to load, present it now for installations. Otherwise, factory defaults will be loaded."

The being sat idle, its scripting at a halt, waiting for user input.
Delta walked through the old, metallic halls of Lab 32, seeing the destruction that some of the more powerful experiments left behind. There were gaping holes in the walls, broken computers and furniture everywhere, and blood. Blood on the walls, blood on the floor, even blood on Delta after an getting into a fight between two relatively normal men, who had come to steal any valuables in the place. The first man attacked Delta, and after a while of them trading blows while the other man watched, the second man simply took out a gun and aimed it at Delta.

I hate to do this, he though, as he picked up the man and used him to defend himself against the bullet. With the first man's blood over his body, he threw him at the second man with his great strength and killed the second instantly.

There had to be another less violent way out of that situation, he thought. But, then again, even with my hyper intelligence, I have never done well in situations where I have to think fast. My "human" impulses don't allow it. He sighed. Oh how I wish to be without this intelligence! Why could the Doctor not have made me like the others! I would still be working to complete the mission!

But he knew, deep down, it was only his intelligence that made him want to fight. That made him successful. That made him the last of the NK5s functioning. Alive, he contracted. I am alive. He continued walking to the main control room.

A gunshot. THe screams of humans in pain. Those were too much.

"Hostile environment detected!"

The panels on the chassis melted from green to red.

"Loading factory defaults without user input...."

Her eyes returned to their default silver and froze as the system processed the command. After a moment, they sprang back to life.

"Enabling biological commanding....."

Suddenly its yees flashed to blue, staying there. She gasped, all traces of computerization gone from her voice.

"Errr.... Complete?" She glanced around the room, not seeing anything. She grinned. "Trish, online!"

Her smile snapped to a neutral expression when she heard another scream. She stood up and pinpointed the location of the scream. Cautiously, she began to duck and weave through the rooms and holes, taking cover before entering a new room. When it was clearly safe, she continued on, until finally, she found a figure covered in blood walking down a hall. She crossed her arms and smirked a bit.

"I don't mean to startle you," she began, her voice very human, yet mostly monotone, "but are you hostile? Please don't lie to me, as there could be disastrous results if you do."
Delta turned to the sound of the voice, and saw it. The Ancient Machine. Finally turned on...

"... interesting, scientists in this lab have been working on you for 50 years, trying to revive you, and now, without warning, and for no reason, you are awaken? Very interesting. And to answer your question, I am non-hostile, except to those who wish harm against me and others."

Trish's panels faded from their red to a calmer blue. Her irises spun a bit and focused on the figure.

What did it mean, ancient machine? Revive me?

"Well, I honestly couldn't tell you anything about the passed. I only have memory and information that all of those like me are equipped with. Really, I'm just a fancy, talking encyclopedia that is...I don't know, a thousand years or so outdated. Oh, and," She paused and smiled a bit, "I suppose I have a bit of personality."

She paced the room a tad, deciding what to say.

"Let me access what I can tell you about myself... Let's see. I'm mostly human, though more machine...sounds paradoxical I'm sure, but my consciousness is all human, as are most of my thought processes, but the biological handling is replaced with computerized systems."

As she searched through her system, her irises turned to a silver to indicate internal activity.

"As to why I was so difficult to awaken, I am not entirely sure. I must have somehow been de-acitivated, or perhaps killed, to some extent. Though, if it were so simple as a mortal injury, the system would have continued to process and revive me until it just couldn't any more... Perhaps..."

Her eyes closed for a moment, then opened again.

"Hm, the security settings seem to be set to lock the system from intruders. Perhaps if I were being held against my will, or surrounded by active hostiles...the system would 'play dead' in a sense, and wait for things to be clear before attempting a reboot. But... that still doesn't explain why my memory is gone, or how I got here."

She turned to face the figure again, then smiled.

"I could be anything, you know. Maybe I was a notorious art thief, or some kind of super-guard... Or something in between. But hey, doesn't really matter right now, does it?"

Trish approached the being slowly.

"I guess it's up to you for now, what am I to do? And most importantly, am I joining the good guys, or the bad guys?"
There it is again. More explosions rang loudly trough the halls as if it were 12 o clock in the noon. Scrydan found the main control room and noticed something highly off. Someone has recently been here no doubt. And they sabotaged the controls to lock everything away and detonate soon. I'm no expert in computers so this is tricky. I'll at least be able to unlock the gates. The question is, will I unlock something very deadly as well? We got to leave soon enough.

According to the monitors, there were to machines near by and a huge beast's door opened behind them. Oh for the love of god. That wasn't supposed to happen. I better warn them of THAT thing.

Scrydan spoke into that section's intercom. "You'd better get a move on if you don't want to be scrap sandwiches! I unlocked the gates so you can get out of there but there's a terribly hungry scrap beast behind you. He's sole purpose was to get rid of machines and he's quite resistant to typical guns you might carry. He hates water though so if you go through the hall on your left, there will be an emergency water hose that you can spray him with. Hit him with it for at least 5 seconds and run as fast as you can then to your left after 5 corridors."

Scrydan paused for a moment to see if they understood the instructions.

"Your joining the good guys, I suppose," said Delta. "and, because you are probably wondering, I called you ancient because, acording to the last research done on you, you were deactived some 5000 years ago."

Suddenly, someone spoke over the intercom, as doors started to open all around, about a huge beast behind them. Delta turned and saw the hellish beast behind both him and the mostly human, more machine figure.

"I guess it's time to go."
"What a place to take a five-thousand-year-long nap, hm?" commented Trish, as her panels shifted to an orange-ish yellow tint.

The thunder of a large beast came from behind. Trish's reflexes spun her around in a jagged, yet graceful motion. Her eyes locked onto various parts of the creature then took quick snapshots of it in order to process and document her experience with it. She blinked, storing the pictures into memory.

"Time to go then!"

She wirled around and sprinted down the hall at near-superhuman speed, easily hopping over furniture and debris. She stopped and searched around, finding the hose. She turned to her companion.

"You man the hose, I'll make sure he doesn't show up early!"

Simultaneously, her systems and taken the images of hte beast and searched her default encyclopedic knowledge for any information. She found it, then quickly scanned the document, looking for information about the beast...

Interesting... she had thought, as she made her way down the hall, Much like a human body, it chews and digests metal and other scrap materials, digests it into basic material with which it can use for self-repairing...Perhaps I can slow its pace with an appetizer.

Once she had located the hose and told her proposal to her companion, she began ripping legs off of desks, outer panels off of computers and machines, and pulling pipes out of exposed wall holes. Using her super strength, the crushed and folded them into three balls, then tossed them into three separate spots far down the hall.

Let's just hope that they don't appetize him that much.
Delta resoponded immediatly to the ancient machine's command and took up the hose, waiting for the beast to come. What is her plan?, he though. Sure, this will destract it for a while, but for what? What does she have up her sleve....?

"I hope you know what you are doing!" he shouted at her. "I don't want to be doing this just to let you abandon me!"
Scrydan slipped through some vents and appeared before both of them. "Sorry it took me so long. I got held up a bit. I found this gun that might help a bit. One of you can take it and aim for the beast. It won't kill it but it will put it to sleep. It gives off certain frequencies that can put certain creatures to sleep. It doesn't work on trained minds though."

Scrydan looked around in the lab. "The main lobby room should be right ahead of us. Just look out for traps as they expected some to escape sometime in the future."
Last edited on 2013-03-15 04:09:33 AM by Scrydan.
"Are you sure it's a good idea to keep the beast alive?" asked Delta. "If it escapes, it could kill many, many innocent lives. I'd say we should out right despose of it now, before it can do any more harm."
Last edited on 2012-08-13 12:05:38 PM by BlackMageMario.
Scrydan roared. "No, we keep it alive. I am not going to lose any more lives than necessarily. Plus you wouldn't want to hear its cry of death. If there's one thing you need to know about me, I protect life dearly. Killing things that don't deserve to die won't fly well by me. This humanoid experiment was created by Chester Fickle who works for Lord Mazon. However, Chester has went too far beyond the orders Mazon delivers." Scrydan took aim and fired off the right pitch and put the beast to sleep.
"If you want to kill things, you should save that for the real villain here. Chester needs to pay for the lives already lost. He may know also why you were here in the first place. No doubt you were selected because some loved one was found guilty of something by ROD."
The beast finally stopped moving in a deep sleep it wouldn't wake from for awhile. "It should easily escape with its abilities and there's plenty of real food here. It hears what we say right now. It may thank us later for saving it and giving it a goal. Many feel who is responsible."
Scrydan started making his way to the next door while the rest probably pondered what had been said.

Delta ran after the dragon. "... defending someone who ordered a experiment here? How... piculariar, for someone who "protects life dearly"." Delta stared at the dragon who said he protected life. "And, wouldn't you protect more life by killing this "humanoid" experiment? And to add one last thing: wouldn't it be humin to kill it, to put it's toruted body and mind to rest?"

".. Whatever you choose, you certainly seem someone trustable. I am NK5 Delta, the last of the NKs. I am an Artifical Intelligence robot, the only of my kind. I have worked here for a couple of years, but I have secretly plotted to destory this facility and the man who ordered it's construction. And," Delta added as he turned towards the Ancient One, "this is an ancient cyborg, who has finally woke after 5,000 years of sleep."

"Don't you know that it's not polite to tell how old a woman is?" Trish joked to her new companions.

At first it had seemed odd to her, that out of nowhere, the two of them suddenly be saved by such an odd creature. After scanning both him and her other companion, she could not find any information in her databanks about their origins. So they must be newer than that beast... But how can that be, if the beast were jut an experiment and not a well-established species?

Trish had begun searching and recording the moment that the strange creature had appeared with the gun. The names, Chester Fickle and Lord Mazon, didn't show any results, yet she felt...off when she searched them. Maybe I did know them at one point...

She had no clue what to make of all of these facts, but... Did she have a choice?

"Tell me, er, friend, what kind of a place are we in that has such horrors as 'experiments' and 'traps'?"
Scrydan opened the door which lead to the reception center, the last room before freedom. Scrydan suddenly muttered a few words and then turned to the others. "Mazon, wasn't always like this. His own brother, Dave Richson, was turned into a Kingrayon. Sure he envied his brother a bit but he wouldn't do this. Saragace, a mentor of Chester Fickle, was also turned into a Kingrayon. Chester learned Science like he did because of Saragace. Yet he replaced his mentor's position easily without thought. Each of those two groups of people were close at one point. Something changed that somehow."

Scrydan paused for a moment pondering what to say next. "This place exists for that reason, that change. They are creating a new species to improve living conditions for life. At least, that was Mazon's goal before that something happened. Now, he creates experiments for war on his new order. He has long took advantage of weakened governments and fallen corporations. Nothing stands much in his way on Earth. That said, this world may be the key to changing that."
Scrydan went onto the reception's computer and found it recently used. "Someone is looking for someone recently. Not sure who we will find but we may find them soon enough." Scrydan opened the door ahead which let in a bright sun's light. It apparently was noon with the sun nearly above their heads.

"If there's one thing for sure, it is that you shall be confused with what you see outside. According to some sources I found, you both are a long way from home. A dimension away from it to be exact. Welcome to Desteria!"
Last edited on 2013-03-15 04:09:55 AM by Scrydan.
".... ha, ha. Sorry, but, I was built here, and I have worked here for all my life. I don't what sources you have, but this definatly is my home."

Delta loooked at both of them. "What are your names anyway? I have introduced myself, I think it would be nice if you to did as well."
As Trish stepped out into the light, her irises faded into a grey as they adjusted to the new light level. After only a second, they faded back to a blue.

Something seemed... off, about this world, and it had taken her until now to pick up on it. Her environmental sensors automatically adjusted to things such as humidity, light and radiation levels, but there was something here that her system just wasn't designed to encounter. She performed a quick subroutine to check her vital signs...They were all normal. At least this place is hospitable.

She turned to her misfit companions. "I am Trish. Unfortunately, I can't tell you much about myself. You'd have just about as much luck as asking a newborn about its childhood memories." She smiled a bit.

"Of course, I do have more potential and capacity than a newborn. And I have quite a bit of pre-loaded information and databases installed in me that I may access."

Something about the mention of being a dimension away...intrigued Trish. She began to search her databases for information about dimensions and other worlds...

"You seem to know quite a bit about this place, friend. In addition to your name, I'd like to know, well. What your angle is in all of this?"
