Originally posted by original first postSo I was just having a discussion with Disco on #minecraft and brought up the suggestion that we could play one of Vareide's Survival Game maps on the SMWC Event Server.
My proposition is that we set up a Teamspeak server and have Pikerchu under a /vanish command, filming the action along with the Teamspeak chat playing with the footage which he could then upload to the SMWC Youtube page.
I propose Vareide's standard rules of randomly stocked chests that randomly restock once a day, with no mobs. We use the most recent map, Vareide's Survival Games 3 map.
Of course there's no sense in doing this if nobody will be interested so I've mainly made this thread to gauge interest. Disco's all good to go along with it so now that remains is YOU!
There's a 24 player cap so it'd probably be a case of reserving your space (and that would actually probably encourage players to show up to the thing).
So who's willing to be in?

I'm always for playing Minecraft maps on the servers.

I'd be glad to be a part of another server. Count me in.
In case you need to know, my name on Minecraft is Dappertron.

Ho boy Survival Games! Quoting Hanbei from a game: "You don't have to look quite so desperate. I'll join."
However, I cannot participate in a teamspeak due to lacking a good mic...I apologize if this is a problem.

I'll definatly join in. These are survival maps right? (if so, I'll (more than likely) BE CREDIT TO TEAM )
Also, I *might* be able to participate in Teamspeak. Do we have to make an account for that? (also, talking loadly might not be appreciated, so we will see).

Participating in the Teamspeak isn't going to be necessary. I think it'd just give the footage a bit more to support it if we had it.
Also it's a free for all, not a team battle. There's only one winner.
As of now, I'm thinking we try and get 10 at least people in. I'll note down those interested in the first post. Then once we have 10 or so, we'll discuss times. Most likely it'll be in a few of weeks which will give Disco plenty of time to write some Bukkit plugins that he needs and everyone else plenty of time to prepare.

Sounds like a solid plan. Just for information sake, my username in Minecraft is the same as here. That information I feel will be required, but I'm not 100% sure.

The server will most definitely be whitelisted so we'll need in game usernames eventually but not now.
I've also decided that we use Mumble instead of Teamspeak since it's open source and doesn't put a lot of strain on processing.

I'm not sure I understood. Would this be "let's play one big session to see if we can win" or "let's get on whenever we want"? I might join if I buy a legit copy of Minecraft.

For now the plan is to host one game. Although an automated server would be nice, the Caffie servers simply don't get enough traffic to warrant it.
So, Egadd, would you like me to add you to the list?

I'm still confused. Is this game going to be in one sitting (I think this is what you mean) or is it going to be spread out? I'm still deciding...

I'm interested in this, but it will depend on what time it is. I'm in school right now, so the weekends would probably be the best for me.
Edit: This map looks interesting, but it would involve making teams of two.

Hey, perhaps someone can host that after this, because I agree. That would be great!

Most likely it'll be on a Sunday since that's really the only day I can do it which can fit with others. In terms of time I'm leaning at about 9pm GMT (the time of me making this post). This is negotiable though. I'm sure we can work out something that'll work with everyone.
I'll add you to the list for now, grish. Let me know if you want to be removed.

Like I said on IRC, Saturday would personally fit me more, thought the time doesn't matter TOO much (if it's going to last more than 2 hours though it might become a problem).
Although, like you said, if it's the only one that can fit with others, I might be able to convince my parents (although being in Junior Cert will probably destroy that chance).

Added Giga.
Also, if you're able to record your POV during the games, it might be nice to send footage over for the video. Just in case the overhead cam isn't capturing anything we can merge your footage with the main footage.
Obviously this isn't obligatory but it would be nice if you had the specs to do such a thing.
What I'd advise is running something like FRAPS, maybe compressing the footage a little bit (since it likes to poop out oversized files), and sending it over to whoever is editing it all together. For now I'll assume it's Pikerchu but I need to run all this past him. If not, I can sort something out with someone else to do the filming and/or editing.
