Originally posted by MVSMy proposition is that we set up a Teamspeak server and have Pikerchu under a /vanish command, filming the action along with the Teamspeak chat playing with the footage which he could then upload to the SMWC Youtube page.
The first problem I find with that is that Pikerchu doesn't own a copy of Minecraft. He uses a Minecraft launcher (MinecraftSP) and can't join any servers unless they are put on offline mode.
Second problem I see is that it is very unlikely Pikerchu would even find this thread considering he stays clear of threads that have things he may not be able to participate in based on title alone.
So yeah, if people could alert Pikerchu that this is planned, that'd be great for problem two. Problem one could be solved if the server was put in offline mode, so yeah, that's actually pretty simple. Also, it's not nice to assume people will do things for you, even if you know they would do it anyway.

I am not joining this, since one I don't know how to play minecraft and two I get dizzy with first players, but is this like the Hunger Games-esqe thing that a bunch of Let's Player's hold and televised?
Because I would really love to watch you guys die do this survival thing.

Can't play, but I really hope this works out. I want to watch you guys do this. I mean, is this going to be something like all 25 of you working together just to see how long you survive, or is there a particular objective you're aiming for?
I just hope that whatever map you picked is really difficult. I mean, 25 people all banding together seems like you'd be able to power through most situations.

The Games are a giant deathmatch between everyone. People can team up, but there's nothing to stop people from backstabbing each other.
You know, like in the Hunger Games.

Added the other people to the list. If you want to pull out of the list, let me know. We've passed 10 so we can go ahead.
As for overhead camera work, I can probably get someone else to do the footage for us however if there are any volunteers, feel free to tell me.

Warning! Big ass post ahead!
So after a brief discussion with Disco, we're now ready to discuss dates.
My current proposition is Saturday 15th September, 9pm GMT (4pm EST). This is up for debate. Please do let me know when you can do, even if this time is perfectly fine for you.
Also it appears some people have gotten into this without knowing much about what the survival games are. You can read up about it and try out the map for yourself here.
We're proposing using the standard rules with a few differences. These differences are listed below.
- There will be no aggressive mobs, there will still be passive mobs.
- No placing blocks under any circumstances.
- Chests will be randomised and refilled once a day at 6am (0 ticks) if they are empty. There will most likely be a set list of items that can spawn in the chests, all with an even spawn rate. These will include weapons, common crafting materials, basic survival supplies, and more. I'm considering throwing in bones and spawn wolf eggs too.
- After you have died, your gamemode will be switched to creative and you will be able to fly around to watch the game, you will however not have permissions to interact with blocks and entities.
- The host(s) will not be allowed to interfere with the games. We're trying to keep this as fair as possible.
- This one should be obvious but no game changing mods that can give you the advantage (i.e. minimap and radarbro). Obviously we won't be able to see what client side mods you have installed (unless you're a camera man too) so this one is on merits.
As I mentioned before, if possible, I would appreciate it if any players who are able to be a camera man for the event would do so. You will be asked to submit your footage to whoever is editing it all together (at this point it'll probably be Pikerchu but I'm yet to discuss this with him). It would be nice if you could capture the in game audio and the mumble feed. Even if you won't be participating in the mumble chat, if you're filming, it'd be nice if you could listen in on it. That way we don't have to get a separate recording for it.
Regarding the mumble feed, we're yet to get a server sorted. Mumble server details will be posted closer to the time.
tl;dr version (missing details)
- Discuss dates
- Official rules
- Camera work related details
- We're yet to get a mumble running
It's not too late to get a space if you haven't already! Get reserving now!

September 15th at 4:00? Sounds good to me. I just hope others are able to work around this time. The Survival Games just aren't fun without people. This is what Miki has to say about the whole situation.

I'm cool with the time, and I can record with Camtasia. I'll have to see about getting Mumble, though.

Sweet, I think that date will suit me perfectly. The time seems reasonable too.
As for mumble stuff, I probably will be able to use a mic and join in, however depending on how long this lasts (2 hours would probably be ok, but pushing over 3 more than likely won't).
As for recording, I have Fraps so I'll definitely be recording (and considering I have you guys talking all the time my commentary probably won't be boring ;D)

If I were to estimate how long the games are going to last, I'd say an hour tops. So it shouldn't be much of an issue.

Again, due to lacking a good mic, I cannot join a Mumble call (well, actually, I may be able to buy one soon, so don't hold this for granted). However, I can record my Minecraft with Fraps.
