Unexpected hair cut. For. The. Win.

(There was nothing I could do, it was out of my control, I'll be there for the next Hunger Games)

From what I heard, it doesn't seem like I missed too much in the first place. I'm actually quite surprised that there were a lot of griefers, I didn't think it would be the SMWC members to do that. Also, as a quick suggestion for the next Survival Games, would it be possible to try out the "Team Fortress 2 in Minecraft: "Dustbowl" map?

Woah, that map. THAT MAP. It'd definitely be cool if we got a bunch of people playing it. It wouldn't really fit the 'Survival Games' theme though, what with the permanent death and well, survival, but just playing it would be awesome. then again we could just all play TF2
I agree with Cobra that map looks amazing and could easily be turned into a "survival" map just playing on it in as it's own game type (does it even have it's own game type) would be fun. then again we could all just play TF2
I may talk to Disco about this then. We could have it in a few weeks, of course we would still need to plan and do so much more extensively than before. I guess just keep an eye on the gaming forum.
Hey, maybe this time I can actually make it. #ab{:S} Minecraft finally works on my computer...but in the shittiest way ever. Frame skips up the ass happen. I think this old computer is biting the dust...and we don't have enough money for a new one...damnit.
Install optifine onto Minecraft (you can find it on the Minecraft Forums), it should really help if you set everything to the bare minimum.

Pay $26.00 to play Team Fortress on Minecraft, or play Team Fortress for free.

. . .

Pay $26.00.

Logic.

On a more serious note I wanted to address FlamingRok; have you tried running Minecraft with more RAM? I found the same problems were happening to me; FPS drops, omitted chunks, mouse lag, but upon loading it with 3G of RAM memory most of the problems dissipated over time (and if not then a fresh computer restart will do the job). Even if you have only 2G of RAM on your computer that would make a substantial difference.

I'm not entirely sure whether or not it will have an affect on a server however, considering how puzzling that topic is to a Boeotian Bohemian Luddite like myself.

EDIT: BlackMageMario's suggestion is probably the better choice actually, I didn't read it at first and I now realize that indeed downloading Optifine and lowering every setting to the minimum will help with more specific frame rate problems.

And if anyone is interested, here is a developer commentary on the TF2 Dustbowl map.

Also something I probably should've mentioned is Disco is actually coding our own plugin for the next time we do a survival games map.

Unknown to Kieran (until now I guess) we've decided to give it the name Boom.pvp (although I'm debating a change to Smile.pvp).

Hopefully next time, it should all be working swimmingly.
Could next games be hosted earlier? The first games were going till 2:00 am for me, and having school now, Would put a great stress on sleep hours. Why not set it up at a time that would be in the morning in EST, forme it would be in the afternoon.
It something that would help me, but is not required.

@Kojeco2:
Minecraft can be gotten for free, and they allowed non-premium users last time, so the comparision would be:
Minecraft: Map customization freedom
TF2: Limited to the existing maps. Also, no griefing after the event
If I remember correctly, you can make your own TF2 maps and host them on your server. They will be downloaded automatically by any user who connects.

And the main reason that 9PM GMT was mostly because that I and Cobra seemed to be the only people who "complained" (I guess?) about the previous date and time, and nobody joined if later (if I remember correctly again (that, and MVS (and I think Disco too) use GMT). Of course, naturally it could work out to be some time in the morning in EST. Depends on everyone else's preferences, though (for example, I would dislike that time as I would be at other things I cannot get out of).

With timezones being what they are, it's impossible to please everybody. I also had to fit it into my personal schedule so 9pm was the best time that suited most people.
AS you may know, I had the idea of mqking our own map, and so far I managed to get some friends of mine to make, all together, a pvp map.
I was hopping that maybe people could post ideas/sugestions for the map(like gamemplay style, teams or free for all, what kind of map/enviroment, etc.).
This would really help us get started by knowing what people like.
This map, if succesfully finished in time, could be used for these games.

I'd say make a team map. I (this might just be me though) would probably work better in a team with a good leader, or atleast most of us knowing what we are doing, than going around, avoiding/hunting everybody else.

Another idea would be to make it unique. If you are going to make a team map for pvp, my not make it in the style of one team "attacking" the other, while the other "defends"? It'd sorta be like Attack/Defend Mode in TF2, where the attacking team "captures" a point, and the defending team cannot re-capture it, they can only defend the next point.

- BlackMageMario
Just nipping it in the bud, if a mod could unstickying this, it doesn't really need a sticky anymore.
OK, some progress on the map:
-Similar to walls maps, only with one single wall separating 2 areas facing eachother (180ºrotation) dilimited by bedrock. This areas are 68x68, copied from a random world, with details added and being added. Sugestions on this?
-Redstone sistem:
-2 switches at the center of the map, when switched on, a "set" sign will iluminate.
-when both are pressed (both teams ready) the walss will fall
-aproximately 1 minute delay between pulses, wich will puss off sand from a stack
-That can be used as an alternative to the 2 switches, limiting time up to 30 minutes.
-Shack for OPs, whith 3 view points:
-middle balcony, general view
-side outcrops, 90º view, nothing in the way, great for bird view recording.
-redstone skylight, to check on wiring.
-time display, colum that is lighten up, with light droping one block per minute till compleatly off, lowering wall.
-Planned:
-implementing clok, setting it up, etc. even thoufht its design is coplete
-bedrock spawn
-bedrock starting area, to where members of teams are teleported
-wall above sand wall, so that players can't see above
-naturalizingthe areas.
-Sugestions

Overall its working out all right, eventually I'll need people to test this thought...

EDIT:
Where could I make a thread for this?
