Everyone: STOP ALREADY, he doesn't want to listen, so don't waste your time with that.

Dipalon: When a staff member tells you to stop is for a reason. If you keep doing this, we'll have to punish you with a ban. Besides, isn't anybody fault that you can't even read a tutorial carefully to understand the correct way to use a tool, so stop whining about that, it's getting annoying. If you need help with them you're more than welcome to kindly ask for help.

Thank you.

Edit: Erik, there is no need to be so rude, cool it down you too.
Edit 2: You know what? It's better if I close this for now.
Dipalon, shut up.
Masterlink, a thread shouldn't suffer from this nonsense.
Holy Drama! This is getting tough, I'm regretting I didn't interfere before. I don't like making blunt statements like these in public, but the attitude shown by both parties was awful, and this goes for both, staff members and regular users. The discussion was going good until you all started overeating and insulting each other, starting with this post.

Dipalon: if somebody doesn't agree with you, it's alright to respond, but you need to show a mature attitude and eventually drop it when you others show you you are wrong; and don't try picking up litle fail in people's wording like in this entire post because it won't take you anywhere. We can't hold a tool contest because it's not something that can be judges fairly due to the large amount of tools types that can be made; besides, you can't run a contest just to satisfy your own needs. Most tools aren't supposed to be as easy to use as Lunar Magic, it's really hard to make a tool like that and I don't think anyone would make a tool like that just to participate in a contest, you should look at the editors for other games, you will notice they are a lot harder to do. Even if I allowed you to run this contest I doubt you would get any participants, considering a making tools is not something anyone can do, or learn how to do, especially not the kind of tool you're asking for, If anyone could make a better version of the existing tools they would make them now, and they wouldn't wait for a contest to show up, so it's not like if you would get those tools even if you run your contest anyway.

That being said, it's not like if the tools we have were that hard to use, they may be confusing at the beggining if you're not familiar with them, but once you get them to work they become really easy to do. If text tutorials don't help you, you can try watching video tutorials or ask for help in the forums.

At everybody else: just because somebody is being persistent it doesn't give you the right to attack them or bluntly tell them to shut up, that won't make you any better than then. If you're not going to say anything helpfull then don't say anything.

The tool contest will not be held for the reasons I stated above. I don't want to see any further discussions on this topic. If anyone wants to say anything about what I just said, send me a PM. Anyone who posts in this thread will be ignored and their post will be deleted on sight.
Fine, I'll stop.

It's still not nice to tell people to shut up, though.
Try my Kaizo hack!

PM me if you want your hack tested.
I would just like to ask.. Once my current contest thread begins recieving submissions, would I be allowed to open a "SMW Speed-Run Contest (Discussion Thread)", and use the current thread only for recieving submissions?

I'd actually suggest you open a Submissions thread and keep the current one as discussion. It's already 3 or 4 pages worth of discussed info.
I don't want to host this contest because I already am hosting one, but I would still like to throw out there the idea, so somebody else can do it.

A tetris contest. Who ever clears most lines, in the least amount of time wins! Pretty simple, but I really like tetris, and I do believe there are more out there who are like me. So, yeah. Yay!

You should probably specify which Tetris implementation you mean, or I'll enter with the one dimensional one.

It's not that hard, dude.

Oh that's cool! The video makes it look easy, but I have never played it before. Though, if it's that easy, I don't understand the exclamation point at the end of the video title. But idk, it might just be just me. I could be wrong

This thread is not to discuss about Tetris, so take that talk elsewhere please.

As for Qwholl's suggestion, I wouldn't be opposed to having a Tetris contest as long as it comes with clear and specific rules and is approved in this thread.
Here's my idea:

It's kind of like the cooking show, Chopped. There will be several contestants, and there will be three levels to make. I will say, for example:

Level 1:
Must contain layer 3 smashers
Must NOT be a castle.
Try to revolve the level around sprites

Level 2:
Must not use any sprites (Excludes autoscroll and layer 2 and 3)
Must use the note/bounce block
Must use turn blocks

Level 3:
Must use layer 3 high/low tides
Must be at least partly underground (NO SIMPLE BONUS ROOMS)
Must have autoscroll at one point

If you forget something, have cutoff/too many bugs, add something but not make it meaningful (i.e. autoscroll for 0x02 screens), or just not be the best then you will be CHOPPED. There will be 3 rounds, and the objectives will be kept silent. What do you think? I'd be willing to do it this August.

I have a question about this.

The problem is that the level needs to be a castle to have the layer 3 smashers. So, would a level with a castle tileset but it has another BG or whatever be allowed?

He means, it mustn't look like a castle. Everybody must change the graphics (like as example cyphermur9t has done in his hack "Mario Gives Up 2" the level "the wooden smasher") but the tileset must be (like you said Archie) "castle".
I like the idea, just make sure you specify everything which can disqualify a level in every round, and try not to ask for anything that's too hard to accomplish.

Feel free to run it in august.
Hey there fellow hackers! Chaser the Ultimate Gamer (scooter102089) and Daizo Dee Von are here with an important announcement:
