Tip: Don't remake levels from other Mario games, especially popular ones (SMB1/3 1-1, for example).
Couple of questions.

I have a couple of questions.

Does anyone know what would cause my rom to freeze up? I edited the area with the mushrooms in bubbles, and when I played the level it froze up when I should have transitioned from the area with the sloped jumps and the flying koopa troopas. I think the level is chocolate island 2.

Another question, how do I edit my music? I want to add songs from other mario games, but I can't figure out how.

Also, do I have to add a note that gives copyrights to nintendo, and stuff, and if so, can some one help me do that. I'm not that good with stuff like that.

Music is easy. Download Addmusic from the tools section and read the readme. Enjoy it!
@Ganon400: I'm assuming you tried editing Level 24. This level is a bit special. In the original game you could enter the pipes and reach some various areas depending on the amount of coins you've collected and the time limit. So, using pipes or doors in Level 24 isn't recommended, because that screws things up. If you still want to use your level, you can save your work to another level-number (for example, make it level 23 instead of 24) and it will work.
Thank you. Do you think that using one of the test levels will work instead?
That would depend if it's a level you can access from the overworld. Only level 1-24 and 101-13B in Lunar Magic are accessable from the overworld.
but couldnt i just edit an exit and move you straight to one of the ones that arent normally accesable??

also, in the first ghost house, i added a big boo, a small door, a message block, and 2 little boos, and when you go in, both mario and one little boo become invisible. is something wrong with it? its that room with the coin making block.

The sub-level's aren't the problem here. They are all fine. Level 24, the one you enter directly from the overworld, is the problem here, so I can't see how it would help to save it as a sub-level. You would still need a level in the range of 1-24 & 101-13B, otherwise you can't enter it from the overworld.

The problem with the Big Boo is something different. Go to "Level" -> "Change properties in Sprite Header" and change it to setting 0B, which would be the one you need for the Big Boo.

I think that technically, i could drop them into the map that the level starts in, and then change the exit to a series of edited test rooms, and end them in one of the two exit rooms. Would that fix it?

And how come in the real game the pipes change color in the secret lake level? You fly all the way to the top, and the pipes are differnt colors when you get to the ground. Do pipes pick up colors from other objects?

I don't really get what you mean, but to keep it simple: Just don't use any screen exits in Level 24. You can use every other level number and it will work, but just not 24.
Ok. Thank you.

You don't get the pipe thing? In the donut lake level, in the pipe area with the balloons, look at the pipes. Then go all the way to the top, and come back down. The pipes change color.
1: Can't you change a ROM address (02DAE6, according to the Wiki) to 80 to disable the pipe-and-warp related woes in Level 24?
2: The reason the pipes in Donut Secret 1's balloon room change color is because the colors the pipes use changes from screen to screen (use F3 to see individual screens, I think). To get around that, just use Map16 tiles that look like pipe tiles, but aren't actually pipe tiles (they act like the pipe tiles or act like the cement blocks).

Thank you.

By the way, do people get annoyed if you don't change the overworld?
I'm not sure if I really want to edit it or not, but I would rather have an opinion first.
Your hack would be better if you did take the time to do the OW. It's actually not that hard once you learn how to do it, it's just getting the right tiles for Layer 2 is tough to do, and also having it match with Mario's path tiles and Layer 2 event tiles.
