The original level was never really fiery-themed to begin with outside of palette choice. So I guess that change is an improvement?
Overall, the level seems okay, I couldn't find any real issues in your design. I want to say your level is perfectly fine, but something feels off. I can't quite put my finger on it... maybe I just felt that the the enjoyability dropped any time I wasn't hopping platforms or dodging grinders... who knows. Maybe someone else will figure out what's really missing.
