Tip: Linear levels aren't necessarily a bad thing. After all, most official Mario levels are fairly linear.

So, I just wanted to mess around with pokemon (fire red, on advanced map) a bit, and I want to know:

Is it possible to change the palletes on a map base?
Hello, I need help with using the level editor Reggie! for New Super Mario Bros Wii. I can;t seem to figure out how to edit entrances for warp pipes and what not. I didn;t know where to go so I thought why not post here? (Haven't been here in 5 years or so) If any one knows, thanks!
To edit the entrances you must actually PLACE an entrance on a warp pipe or door. To do this, look at the right side where you can choose a tile to place, in the row where it gives you all the tabs, click on Entrances with the image of a door. Place it, then click on the entrance to edit it's type, destination ID and area ID.
Well, I just got into hacking Super Mario Bros, so expect a lot of questions in the future.

First question: What are the addresses for the palettes used in the game? I'm using Nes Pallette Editor.

EDIT: Forget this question. I found a cool tool that'll do this and more.

So I'm hacking Super Metroid, and to make my backgrounds much easier to make, I save them to an outside folder.

I load them, save the room, and leave to edit other rooms. However, when I go back to some rooms way later on, the BGs are glitched up.

What's going on?

Does Anybody know if Wario World 4 is hackable? If so, is there a program to hack it?

You hack the game with a hex editor but you need to find the values yourself and your other question, as far as I know, there isn't a editor for Wario Land 4.
Been a while, hasn't it?

Well, Cave Story calls it "modding", so...yeah..
Anyway, I just made a new map but whenever I enter said map, the background is BK0, the dark blue 1 w/ nothing in it.

The map before it which leads to this room has the same background, so the background doesn't have things wrong with it.
The background is like BKFog/Moon, just w/ an edited palette, b/c as you might know, you can create other new tile/sprite/BK sets.
I even tried copying the other one but that didn't even work!
Why is the background not appearing and how can I make it appear?

And (bad grammar) yes, the scroll setting is set to 7, which allows the moving clouds and such. (not 6, which makes items go left, like in the Outer Wall)
I use Cave Editor, it's easier to use than Sue's workshop...

That is most likely the problem. Cave Editor is an extremely buggy editor for Cave Story and will often crash any hack made in it (This is especially apparent if you try and edit special settings [Base HP/Remove the need for a "(c)Pixel" string at the end of a file] or enemy variables). The only real thing many people use it for is to edit the .pbm palettes using the built in graphics editor, but hardly any Cave Story hackers ever use it beyond that...

I would advise making a backup of your hack files before trying anything in Cave Editor, or just switch to Sue's Workshop if possible (It has less to it, but it is the most stable editor available to the general hacking population as of yet).
Not to brag or anything, but I'm quite used to using Cave Editor.
But I'm stumped (stumpted?) on this note...all the other maps passed 94 (or at least most, some of them don't need a background) have backgrounds.

So how do I give the map a background?
Unless, I can't.
Hey, I was wondering if it's possible to have more than one vertex hack for a character in Brawl?
How can you insert custom music into a Rockman2 rom?
And, how can you port any other music file into a NSF?
(Sorry for the bump)
Hello.
My friend tries to hack New Super Mario Bros on DS, and I have a question. Is there any way to change the title on the title screen? He tries to make "New Super Luigi Bros", so he kinda needs to switch this :)
Also, is there a possibility to change enemy's textures and models? If there is, then how?
Not so much a problem with editing the game as a problem with the editor, but i downloaded moojelly and installed it, but when i try to run it, i get this :

I'm on windows 7 by the way, if that changes anything.

Ah this little thing. What you require in order to run the program is that file. I am aware of Windows Vista not having it, I see it isn't in Windows 7 either. Just search up COMDLG34.OCX download and you should encounter the file sooner or later. Most likely one of the first results. What you do then is move it to the folder or area where it should be on your computer. If you need help on where to move it, simply search that up as well, as I seem to have forgotten where it goes.

The BG editor is very buggy in other ways too, I'm not sure exactly of the issue you have been having, (as it could be that it's not related to the BG in all, in fact.) but I suggest you made a layer 2 type background instead. This obviously takes up on the room space, but it allows you to design a bigger and more detailed room specific background. Just be sure to remove the BG pointer and change the BG drawing mode to layer 2 if you do this.
I'm hacking NSMB, and whenever Mario gets to the goal, the "Mario Clear" thing happens and the timer counts down, but then instead of going in the castle, he walks past it and I can't end the level.
