Well, some artists have been making a sonic 3 and knuckles remix tape called Sonic : Project Chaos.

I've got a bunch of their songs. They're awesome! They bring back memories of my old Sega Genesis. Ahh, the good old days... :'D

Some, although, I did not enjoy. Like the "Elevator Music", aka Launch Base zone. It sounded nothing like the original, and I never could've guessed what song that was!
