Eye of the Storm

I've been working on this one for a bit but I haven't made a thread until now. This is a sky level with a stormy aesthetic, and the design is focused around the "eating" blocks that will slowly destroy a row of blocks. It is tentatively finished up to the midpoint, but everything here is subject to change. Any comments and criticism are appreciated! My biggest worry here is that the second segment is too difficult so far. Anyway, here's a video.

I think this is my first time seeing an idea with the shortening blocks. It would definitely keep my on my toes. I would say something about the lack of color but the storm theme is what you are looking for so it's pretty good as is.
I think this is pretty unique, I like the different gimmicks you've done using the eating blocks sprite.

Something about the colors of those foreground pillars/logs bugs me. I think this yellow is a little too bright for the background and for the concept of the level overall.
I like the design, and I don't think the second section is very hard, but then again, I'd need to give it a play myself.
Also you've probably seen it, but there's a point where the eating blocks create a cutoff below a pipe. Should be a very easy fix (just a matter of making that pipe double-ended).
Good luck!

And dang I'm inteding to use that same track :P
It's easily the best thing I've done
So why the empty numb?
I think this is the second level to use the eating blocks quite effectively (the first being Snake Eater from the last VLDC). I should say that you need to make some of your jumps from the blocks a bit easier, there's some areas where it looks like the player might have little room for error (the most notable to me is the first three vertical rows of blocks going downward and you have to jump on the platform above). Also, perhaps darken the foreground a tad bit to go with the background. Not bad. Very interested.

This ain't too difficult, but some of the jumps are a bit tricky to perform. Try to give the player slightly more time to plan out their moves (especially with these harder jumps, in example; waiting to perform a Koopa jump). Overall it looks really interesting and quite unique. Keep it up.
I approve of this level.
I like the unique atmosphere this level has. You've used the vanilla graphics in a clever way, but not one that feels intrusive on the design. I hope you finish this (and if you don't, then I hope you submit what you've done and move the midpoint to the start of the second room).

Nice work.
Extremely last minute, but my level is now finished pending testing and revisions.
