Original Graphics, Palettes and HDMA Showoff Thread

Turned the cape into the Sword of Soaring. It was an experiment that turned out to my liking. There's also a glimpse of the protagonist with his flaming fist of fury. All gfx and poses are original.

More updated stuff!

@ Ten - I like your style, I think the cape animations look a bit weird, maybe you can improve that. Also that thing that appears when you kill an enemy with a fireball is funny :P

@ Miku - Sweet sweets! Everything looks better. It is cool how you are always improving your work #smw{:TUP:}

Current project: working on a personal website and a portfolio.
@ Kuxune - Thank you for the feedback. Yeah, there are still things the animation needs. I'm just happy to have it working at the moment. What you see emerging from the dead enemy is a clock. If you can actually capture it, it adds five seconds to the timer.

@ Miku

Regarding the night time scene comparison, I think the ground and sky in the new rendering is clearly superior, not just with more detail but with more character. That said, I like the ground-level background and objects from the old rendering better. They seem more defined and detailed, and adding the slight three-dimensional view of these objects makes them appear out of place. Still good work in both instances. The newer version of the cake and candy are definitely improvements all around over the old.

Chapter Two: Land of No Shame
I'm working on a GFX request made by StrikeForcer. It's a redrawn-styled SMAS SMB1 Bowser's Castle tileset, with a few stuff from SMB3 as well. As it's a very long time since the last redrawn-styled thing I made, I'd love some input here.

Let me know if images don't show up and I'll upload on Postimage.

Doubleposting because I finished the tileset.

Feedback is appreciated. Thanks.

The BG looks a tad bare, perhaps some indented stone bricks would make it look better?
Some more details wouldn't be bad (e.g. a few more bricks around) but I also like the cleaner look the BG currently has. Nice stuff, seems to fit in nicely with the SMW redrawn style.
For as some of you know, I plan on making a hack called Super Pac-Man World, think of it as a 2D Pac-Man World. Anyways here's how Pac-Man looks so far.

I know I haven´t been active here for quite a while, but in the past few months some GFX-experiments were done... That´s what my stuff looks like:

Dunno if any of that might be used in any kind of Hack, but I plan on releasing a litte gfx-pack. Just in case ;)

Hi.
I think it's time to show another original layer 3 BG I drew. Here it is:
Edit: Ignore the picture.
I need to use 2 layer 3 palettes, in order to make this complete. Who knows!
Edit: I'm done! I'll show you the result tomorrow.
Edit2: I'm delaying the showoff here. I want a decision from you. Which baby yoshi should I draw? I'm working on a thing that should have been available already.
Edit3: While I was working on the editor icons, I decided to show my work now:
The first type is your layer 3 castle BG with clouds and pillars. It's 256x256. Screenshot below:

Thr 2nd type is the same layer 3 castle BG with clouds and pillars. Some clouds have ExAnimated lightning. It's 512x256. Screenshot below:

And this is the part when the horror comes into play. The 3rd and final type has the same layer 3 BG with clouds, some with ExAnimated lightning, pillar and new things added here are holes and different eye types that look at the player. All eyes are ExAnimated. Screenshot below:

You might say these BGs do look great for layer 3(yes, I've seen better), but I want to make a different layer 3 castle BG. That's why I included 2 templates, each with layer 3 castle bricks. You can add anything associated with my GFX. The only difference is the size. To be released today. Comments would be nice.

Edit4: I uploaded the castle BG. Download link: Here
@Rykon-V73: Nice BG! The windows look somewhat simplistic in contrast with everything else, though, so you might wanna try adding more details or a texture of sorts.

@Blind Devil: The BGs kinda empty, maybe it's missing some decorations or a bigger window? Other than that, looks fantastic.

@Neidave: It looks super weird and abstract, and I like it that way.

Been trying to get back into hacking/pixel drawing, and I kinda wanted to go for a SMB3-SMW hybrid kind of feel as of late (since every time I went with redrawn I lost motivation when it came to drawing ultra-detailed BGs). The end result is this strange looking Mario. (still WIP, still have to draw some frames, the racoon/shell/hammer/whatever powerup and maybe Luigi if I'm bored enough.

Looks like Pac-Man's been taken from Super Mario Maker.
I think that's actually supposed to be based off his Pac-Land sprite.
Kinda in hibernation for a while. I hope to be back in full swing soon.
I'm asking if the shading looks good.

No, it looks terrible. It's not really noticeable and the sprite itself needs a redesign with proper shading. You can easily find spriting tutorials online if you're just beginning with pixel art.

It's looks decent, not bad but not great either. Mario himself looks bland and uninspired.

Also, there is some weird misshaped pixel stuff going on with his legs in certain frames and his shading could use some overhaul for a fresh look.

And miraculously, there's another thing I got done in the meantime! It's the background for level 2-1, to be precise. After working on it for most of today I can no longer tell if it's actually good. #tb{''} I'll definitely tweak the palette at least.
