Normally, I'd post in the Screenshots thread of SMW< but since this is a YI level design contest, I'm showing the 2 screens here as well:

Aesthetically, it doesn't look super impressive, but I think you're off to a good start regardless (well, you are already making usage of some gimmicks, at least - the car morph and all that). I would probably remove some of the arrow things shown in the second screen, though, since you obviously don't need that many of them. That aside, however, nice work.
While I'm still at it, here's a sneak peek of the level I am working on. Nothing big, really, just wanted to show off the BG/FG combination I whipped up for it, which I am particularly rather pleased with:

Well, Broozer, not to say, but I think I've seen that combo already used. Even so, your screens seem a bit emptier than mine, but the second one looks quite impressive.
And trust me, I need that many arrows, so that the egg can pass through the gap safely. I tested like this and works right.

Broozer: Nice headers!, Also, Ripperon-X, that combination hasn't been used before. I like the combination of the dry-looking BG palette with the fresh-looking green FG palette and blue HDMA. The new Yoshi colour looks great too!
Ripperon-X: Not bad, nice to see you're already using gimmicks like the car morph and the arrow clouds.

Okay, the next 2 screens. I'm going to post two per area.
Let's roll:

I'm pretty sure this combination never got used.

I wanted some kind of purple palette, but none of the transition sprites had it, so I'll stick with this.

It's not about whether it was used or not, but the actual question is:
Does it look good? I don't know the context of your level, but to me, the combinations seem weird.

The part with the grass isn't really staisfying. I admit, but the other one looked really good. The layer 3 is a surprise/

Double-posting for attention:
I will release the level in the proper thread today. But first, 4 screenshots:

Bonus points for anyone who tells me where I got this idea from. Special thanks to him.

Helicopter section for the 'beginners' of YI.

This looks kind of good to me.

This does look good with the high mountains.
One more advice before downloading the level that'll appear:
One of the sections requires some fancy helicopter skills.

@Ripperon-X I don't really like the green lines in the BG of the first two screens, but lookin pretty good otherwise.
I also have some screens of my level (I'm nowhere near done so they are subject to change)

This part requires timing. Shark Chomp plus line guide platforms that move left.

A watermelon in Yosh's mouth. It's fairly difficult to take screenshots during a fast paced chase scene, so I used slowdown.

Some careful dodging.

A simple puzzle. Will not show the entire thing, but the Shark Chomp is somehow important. And that's a reset pipe right there.

That's the forest very far. Other than that, I don't know which green lines are you saying.
@Sksvr: The brown palette does fit with what you have.

I think I was talking about that. Kinda reminds me of the northern lights if I only lightly focus on it. Maybe what I meant was that the green doesn't go with the grey below it IMO. Is it supposed to be a cave with the forest far away?
I just wonder, is it possible to do custom palettes in YI like in SMW? I haven't figured out how to yet.

It's boring, but possible to do. Also, what 'unique' layer 3 BG do you suggest that I should use, to work with that cave section of mine.

I'm not sure if I should post this here, but I don't want to ruin it for anyone, but I played Ripperon X's level, and I finished it, but it was really confusing, and in some parts, it seems like he's trying to play Dr. Kaizo Mario in some parts. I don't know if he meant it on purpose, but like the text in the message boxes wouldn't appear, and when I got done w/the airplane transformation, it pushed me down, and I died. I had to use a lot of save states, but I don't know if it's just me. It was a good level though, Ripperon-X. You should just fix the message boxes. I'm not sure if they had something important in them b/c they just appear blank.

What? When I tested them, something showed up.
Did you try with ZSNES or any other emulator?
@Lespna1: You should try applying the patch on: Super Mario World 2 - Yoshi's Island (U) (V1.0) [!]
The messages work perfectly there.
Also, in case that section was too hard, didn't you try going down instead? I even use a trick to access the path.

It does say Super Mario World 2 - Yoshi's Island (U) (V1.0) [!] I just copied and pasted that so I don't think it's the ROM. I tested it using SNES9x v1.53, but I will test it in ZSNES v1.51.

Although you might want to town down the brightness of the ground just a bit, nice palette, Ripperon-X! I don't think I've seen anything like it before.

It looks great indeed, especially considering how much of a bother it is to come up with decent looking custom palettes for YI. I agree with Jeorge on toning down the brightness, but that aside, great job.

Is this better?

Also, bonus:

I edited the colors, so that the art below has the right colors. There's a weird color near the black. That's not possible to edit, from what I've tried. Should I try adding custom palettes to the other sections?(not the cave)
If so, then what should it be?
Edit: I haven't got any answer yet.
