Awesome! I've been waiting for a long time to hear news from this hack . Glad to hear you're continuing it, Yoshi Master.
You're really doing an incredible work with it. Now here's my little suggestion:
Look at the fire in this screenshot.

I'm extremely sure that they use palette A there. Also, it seems that it's graphics were a bit different, nothing too big.
My point:
Change from this:

To this:

It should work, in my opinion.

You WILL like the new flame, as for I haven't done it yet, but I will definately try it out! Thanks Andres.
Edit: I am having trouble doing this. I tried to change the palette in sprite paint, but it remains the same. I will keep trying though.

I know (I make homebrew for PSP), but Famicom/NES homebrew are sold in China, Hong Kong and (in past) some other countries. That's why they are called pirates in the Famicom clone world.
Yoshi Master: I decided to make for you more beta-alike jumping pose.

I spotted that in final Super Mario World jumping sprite is higher than walking pose, but not in beta.

Hmm. I didn't found anything in the ROM Map. Maybe using a custom palette?

That will work, but I would still like to find a way to do it to the sprite. I will switch the palette now.
Edit:

The new candles, and the new jump animation for mario (Which I moved a few pixels around, if you don't mind. You still get credit Jaklub.).

It looked like Mario had less of a stache and more of a smile in the beta... Maybe that was just light coming off the TV. His cap also looks like it was bigger than the final, by about one line of pixels...

Also remember to change Mario's boots when he's fire Mario to white! And yet another thing I do see, is that Mario's arms are longer in the beta, especially when he's swimming and when he's standing.

I've been watching this thread a lot, this is kinda interesting.
@ daking: With a little playing around, I got this:

They look like spots more than diamonds now.

For the most part, I can understand why they changed all the things in the final version compared to the beta, even the overworld... it may look cool, but it's way too small.
The only thing I really don't get is why they decided to take the donut clouds out. I think they're awesome and very unique.

And also in the final, in the second world "Donut" it never uses those blue hill background. Maybe that is why they where removed.

Wow, those are pretty cool looking Dotsarecool! I might use them, if They don't mess with to much crap. I always thought those were some kind of layer 3, because of the odd positions they are in on all of the screenshots.

Holy crap! Amazing discovery! Look at this picture.

It is weird how the donut on the right side of the screen is above the other cloud in the background. My only question, is why would they remove those donuts? They look B.A.

I think they are, for example, daking's screenshot.
The little cloud on the left is partially on top of the spot on the mountain. But in my screenshot, it is several pixels away from the spot. You're probably right.
