Proposal for smwcp3

I have an idea for the next installment of the smwcp series. If there is any desire to make another one of these things I think it would be cool if the game were a brand new game that doesn't include mairo in it at all. It would have all new characters and be its own original game.

Anyway, that's just my idea.
I HIGHLY doubt there will be a SMWCP3 after all the crap we have been through, especially how this game isn't even released yet. I'm sorry, but I don't want another delayed project.
Just so you know, I'm very active on the site anymore like I was before; I'm mainly on Discord now.
Not having Mario in the 'flagship' collab of a Mario hacking site sounds like a really silly thing to do.

Flagship in quotes cause at this point that's probably actually VLDC.

I say we should do it and I'll say more: we should let Falconpunch be our lead character designer. God knows what surprises and intricacies would come from the mind who designed the puzzling and complex Reswob.

VLDC9 is actually SMWCP3. Don't tell anyone.
A game without any Mario characters would be a great challenge! (sign me up)
The only reason I make such a proposal is because when you have already done 2 games based on mario then for the 3rd one you try and mix it up a little bit and do something different.

When you do something different its like a breath of fresh air.

A hack representing the community of Super Mario World Central would obviously star Mario. Even if you'd swap his graphics with someone else's, it'd still feel and play like Mario.

Unless it's Luigi.

But no-one likes Luigi.

See, this is why I prefer Magimario

P.S. if another site-wide collab happens you should do something different than an SMWCP3. I had a rad idea for it.
I would like to see SMWCP3 eventually (maybe I could actually participate in it this time), though it would definitely have to be planned out better than SMWCP2 was. And less dependent on people who keep flaking out on things.

I'm working on a hack! Check it out here. Progress: 64/95 levels.
Number 1 ideal for an SMWCP3 (if it happens) is to not make the same mistake SMWCP2 did.

SMWCP2 was too ambitious for it's own good, all of this specialized ASM, bosses and shit. Not the mention the lack of commitment, yeah... SMWCP3 would be possible and finished quicker if ambitions are nowhere near the level of SMWCP2. Ambitious projects should only be done by people capable of completing them; this sounds horrible yes, but SMWCPII's current state of still not being finished is an embarrassment to the community as a whole, and we should all feel that.
Well, at the same time, we would want to at least make sure that it's not an anticlimax after SMWCP2. Though I'd think at least some of the ASM (the status bar, the cutscenes) could be reused rather than having to reinvent the wheel.

The ambitiousness of this project is what held it up the most; ASM for the most part. Whether or not custom ASM is incorporated into it or not is the decision of those who decide to start it up; but for the sake of completion, let not a custom coded credits sequence hold the whole production up.

I remember a couple years ago, I had a small bit of care for this, hoping that by the time 2016 rolled around, it'd be finished and pushed out the door, or at least still in Beta, bug fixing and stuff.

If SMWCP3 is going to be a thing, I at least suggest those who want to start it up take a look back at SMWCP2, see what held it up for so long, and avoid that particular part of the element, be it a complex credits sequence or a complicated final boss.

Seriously, if SMWCP3 were to start this year, I predict there would be a ton of sparks and interest, all sorts of people jumping on the bandwagon. Graphics designers, music artists, asm coders, the whole shebang. It happens all the time. Why can't people get hyped about it being near finished? Shouldn't those who can help get this thing finished be even more excited that it's near finished? If the people who were working on this took time to do the work they volunteered for, this project might see completion in two weeks time, if not less.

I understand people have real life issues, but that's no excuse to not finish the job a person volunteered for, whoever is leading the project needs to contact the individuals who volunteered to do the remaining tasks, get on their ass or fire them and find somebody else who will get the job done.

I suggest not starting an SMWCP3 until SMWCP2 is finished. It'd look horrible to have a new forum for SMWCP3 when SMWCP2 is still sitting in the gutter.
The problem is that SMWCP2 has been "near finished" for 3 years.

Even worse than that. It is finished. The problem is that most of what we have is awful by today's standards. You can say whatever you need about bugs or whatever else. The project is done, it's been for a while. It's just not in the state that people expect it to be.
Ho hue, that is worse. Hahahahaaa! That's hilarious actually... oh boy... hilariously horrible.

Ehhh... this and the above sucks, there's no better way to put it. For the most part, it may be finished, but there's no denying what Torch is saying. Finished or not, I can't see many people hyped for it.

So like Zombie A2MT except all the puzzle pieces actually fit. Interesting.

I beg to differ BIGTIME, Torchkas.

If SMWCP2 was "finished" there should have been a public beta release or a new BASE ROM made in 2016 already.

And certain levels like EREHPS EHT RAEF (aka FEAR THE SPHERE) and the Final Level in World 9 are INCOMPLETE (the last boss in EREHPS EHT RAEF is missing and some Message blocks in that stage have empy messages). And where's the final boss in the final level? I couldn't find him in the last base rom of SMWCP2 that I played.

Heck the project is not quite close to 90% finished.

Oh and the music for SMWCP2 is being reworked and redone as well as the graphics - so I don't see it as finished.
