Daizo Dee Von's Custom Music Releases [New Theme to Listen to!]

Daizo Dee Von: Hey everyone, and welcome to my C3 thread for this year. I'll be slightly honest, I didn't really consider participating this C3 until a month ago, which... let's be honest, is not the best way to do things. However, during that time, I had worked on a few ports to be released to the Central. The reason why it isn't me, myself, posting this is because I'm currently working at a job down at a camp site for little kids. I should be back by the third day at C3 to release another fun thing, but for now let's show what I've got!

CUSTOM - Heartless Factory
An unsettling factory theme with a Donkey Kong Country/Earthbound Vibe to it. I recommend using it in themes that feels very wrong; almost heartless.

CUSTOM - Wild Lush Woods
A calm forest theme suitable for levels that give a relaxing feeling. Part of the inspiration belongs to Chrono Trigger and Secret of Mana.

Other SPCs:
--Kirby Triple Deluxe - Dirty & Beauty (Queen Sectonia Phase 1)
-Daizo's Journey - Forest Land
-Daizo's Journey - Mountain Land
-Daizo's Journey - Sky Land
-Krack the Hack - Key Retrieved!
-Nova and the Dark Armour - 13 13 V
-Nova and the Dark Armour - Bowser Isle
-Nova and the Dark Armour - Fear-Infected Mind

Anyway, I hope everyone else enjoys C3 while I'm missing in action... but I will be back...

Daizo, you always have amazing compositions. Excellent work, especially with Wild Lush Woods, which is pretty beautiful. Otherwise, you know my opinions on the rest of your works.
you've definitely improved as a composer. remixing the smb castle theme in the style of the cave of the past is super creative. wild lush woods is pretty good too, though i'd probably use something besides the smrpg orchestra hits since they kinda stick out from the general mood you establish with the song.

you've earned my approval #tb{:>}
Oh hey, I'm back.

I might as well give you an MP3 of what I'm working on next:
Super Mario Bros. 2 - Battle Against Wart (Amplified)

I'll probably port it after the main event of C3 is over.

Heh, thanks. I know you were one who has heard of most of my work prior to this, but I had to hide away at least one surprise. #tb{^V^}

I had a feeling someone might not be a big fan of the orchestra hits I used, though they'll probably be sticking around until I find a softer sample. Also Fear-infected Mind literally came from me messing around with the sample in FL Studio and me thinking "...what if I did this?" There is another melody mixed into the song, but revealing that is kind of spoilers for Nova and the Dark Armour.

I really liked your ports, sounds great.

Thanks! I too like what you've presented this C3!

I'll throw some comments out regarding the two custom compositions:

Heartless Factory: The inspiration from Devil's Lab is pretty obvious here. My problem with it is that the track never actually goes anywhere. I would honestly cut out the first 22 seconds, start it off at :23, and then build it even more than you already have (perhaps by adding a melody or more ambience). Right now it sounds like background ambience, but not an actual "song", per se.

Wild Lush Woods: The orchestra hits are hilariously unfitting to the point of being jarring. You've built up this calm beginning and then thrown in these massive artificial samples to ruin the immersion. I would highly suggest changing them to something lighter and more forest-y (louder pizzicato? Chimes?). Otherwise, it's not bad, though it sounds almost -too- similar to Secret of Forest for the first several seconds.

But it is a background ambiance piece in a similar fashion to the more ambiance-heavy pieces of DKC (also, the melody is at 1:21, but it's difficult to notice). Maybe I'll cut out the first 22 seconds, but I feel that'll make it just make the song piece "appear" out of nowhere... maybe I should've noted it before Evilguy posted the thread.

Fair judgement. I've dug up Chrono Trigger's Marimbas, so I'll make the piece truly Chrono Trigger inspired.

Might as well say that I've updated Wild Lush Woods in the C3 package, and will be releasing both Heartless Factory (unaltered) and Wild Lush Woods to SMWC's Music Section. So redownload if you've downloaded it during C3.

I actually like both compositions. They're not perfect, but you're definitely going the right way. I suggest working on balancing the volume better though; I feel some of the instruments stand out a lot more than they should. In fact, that applies to all the .spc files in the pack.
Fear-Infected Mind is probably way too based off of Cave of the Past and SMB's castle theme #ab{:S}
It's easily the best thing I've done
So why the empty numb?
