How the message block would look like? Completely invisible or like a hidden coin block?


Hmm... since LM 1.9 makes you able to put Mario and Luigi in different places on the OW, what about some kind of race? The "more skilled" person would win the race. Hmm... but... savestates. That would be pretty unfair here... :/

It could be like who would do the fastest TAS (since you say someone could cheat)?

Yeah. Without savestates it would be a nice race. Also, these levels would be challenging to make it not too easy.
What about SMW Party? :P with the 2 player coop you could have sorta minigames and with level tiles you can also make special events for a single player, that would be wicked.
Just thought of a new enemy type. Ok, get this:

Dancing Ballerina Zombies. Dancing to that one song from 'The Nutcracker'.

This would need a lot of ASM. Not sure it would work. Maybe there would be some freespace issues or lack of space in the ROM? Not sure but it can be tested. I didn't even see a SMW styled Mario Party.

Not quite, Super Puzzle World pulled something of the sort off. So if you could do that with Co-op, make one level, a block leading into a random level, and wala.
SPW is a vanilla hacks and it shows various puzzles to solve in a short time limit. Leo was probably talking about some sort of minigames like in Mario Party.
I had an interesting idea for a hack, there's 6 worlds with worlds 2 through 5 all being immediately accessible from world 1. In order to reach world 6 you need to find and press the switch within the switch palace within each of the worlds except world 1.

Pressing the switches would allow you to cross a bridge to world 6. (Either through a well constructed bridge level or one with a block that only is solid after pressing all 4 switches.)

I might try to implement that in a hack if I ever actually get around to finishing one but I thought I'd throw the idea out there for anyone else too. (If it hasn't already been done before.)

Edit: I also had an idea for the overworld layout. World 1 will be a donut in shape with worlds 2 through 5 being along the outside of that. World 6 will be in the hollowed portion in the middle.

I recently came up with an idea that I may implement in the next hacking project after SMB5R is truly finalized. It involves a central hub world with warps to four themed submaps. These can be completed in any order, similar to the six Zones in Super Mario Land 2. The final levels of these worlds are typical castles, but after beating the boss, you're warped to one of the Switch Palace Switches and must press it to complete the level/world. The worlds are themed according to the color of the Switch that will be pressed at the end.
Yellow = Desert
Green = Grassland/Forest
Red = Volcanic Mountain
Blue = Ice/Water
There's a level on the hub which, prior to all Switches being pressed, will be unbeatable due to passages that have been blocked by Reverse Switch Blocks, but can be exited with a Side Exit if the player enters before pressing the Switches. Once the Switches have been pressed and the level beaten, the player will move on to the final level and beat the game.
That seems almost exactly the same as my idea in the post above yours. #w{=P}

special request: make a SMW editing program
that hacks the GBA version of the game, called:
lunar magic advance, the SMA2 editing program, that can make GBA SMW romhacks, and the GBA version has more stuff to do, not only that, but LMA will aslo be able to edit the levels of mario bros,
therefore giving you the abilty to make a FULL romhack of SMA2, and when you quick extract the allGFX file, you'll get the seprate luigi GFX. this program could start the next generation of SMW hacking,
it could even make SMA2central, the SMWC of the future, we might even abondon this website!
infact, i sense it happening very soon

You can hack SMA2 by using a level importer that Smallhacker made. However the levels need to be strictly vanilla. No Map16 stuff allowed.
Theres a hack in the hack section called "A Pure Vanilla Hack" which can be imported into SMA2 and works fine.

Also If I recall correctly Fusoya is maybe looking into making LM be SMA2 compatible as a screen in the LM 1.9 Discussion shows something to do with setting up a GBA emulator.

Yup, and I'm going to create Galaxy Magic, which will edit SMG 1 and 2, but also SSBB, and possibly all of Mario's games. I see this happening soon (not really).
Had an idea for a hack that takes advantage of Mario and Luigi's separate starting places on the map:


Mario and Luigi are separated by some mysterious force, and need to work together to get back to each other and find out what caused their separation. They have to go through a world or two or levels each, and clearing certain events on the OW with one brother will affect the other brother as well, giving access to shortcuts or whatnot.

After they both complete their respective world(s), you can enter the final castle/area/place and give who is responsible a good hard stomp. (I'm thinking either co-op (if that gets finished) or somehow switching characters/rooms mid-level).

Obviously, 2-player would be preferred, but if you must play alone, you can switch between Mario and Luigi on the overworld at will, and control each on the overworld and in-level.

When playing 2-player, you can give up your turn while you're on the overworld (say, if you finished your world(s) but the other guy hasn't).
A hack with Bowser as a protagonist.
You have him as a playable character: slow run and jump.
But there is the original part: his minions!
Bowser can use his minions ( Goombas, Koopa Troopas...) for reaching tough parts or defeat the strongest of the bosses.

How Bowser can use his minions? You choose them in the INV item box, scrolling with two buttons. With the press of the select button, you use the ability of the minion selected ( it will not fall down like an item).

Yeah, this is only a concept: I don't know if it's even possible to make it.

That actually reminds me of a hack I was going to do at one point, but never even started...you know what...maybe I ought to try that if I get better with my ASM skills.
