I'm kinda new to Lunar Magic, so I need help in a couple of questions. how are we supposed to make pipes which lead to another part of a level? I also need help how to change mario's starting level position.

If you want to make a pipe lead to another part of a level, insert an exit enabled pipe and press the blue door icon. note the screen that it's on and press the first door icon.choose the screen number in the first entry field and the destination level in the second. If this was done properly the screen should be highlighted blue.
To change Mario's starting position click the second door icon. Fill out the screen and you should see Mario move.
you can make doors lead to secondary entrances. To create a secondary entrance, use the third door. select the entrance number and where it goes. to use it with a door or pipe, select the first door icon, in the first feild, select the screen with the door/pipe. in the second field, type in number of the secondary entrance and fill in the box that says, "above value is a secondary entrance". also remember if you dont link an exit enabled pipe, it leads to an endless bonus game.
cool, both things worked :)

another question which I forgot to ask, is it possible to change the colour of the background of a level? I also want to know how to change the background style of each level. (I know how, but in a stupid way).
Click the colored star and choose "Background Color". If you want to make other colors, click the background color icon to the left of the drop-down menu and create the color. Beware, however, this will overwrite the previous color for all levels.

when I click the coloured star, why doesn't it allow me to change the settings on the right?

If you selected "Enable Custom Palette" You will have to select all of the colors you want for the BG, FG, and sprites but not the BG color.
Disable this option, to choose from the menu(s) on the right.
But, I must warn you. Do not change any colors on the left if that option is disabled, or else it will overwrite all of the colors used by all of the levels.
