Trouble with ExGFX

https://www.smwcentral.net/?p=section&a=details&id=12213

I tried importing the Mario 3 Toad House ExGFX but it came out as a mess. I followed the tutorial correctly. I'm pretty sure I have to use the Super GFX Bypasser but I'm not sure how it works.

Example:
Take the ExGFX file that comes with .zip, this file will (and should) be a .bin file; most likely ExGFX80 or some random number.

Open the Super Graphics Bypass Dialogue window, usually #lm{sgfxby} is the button. Look at where it says FG3 and set that to the number corresponding to the ExGFXxx.bin file.

So if your ExGFX file is ExGFX80.bin;--
then your FG3 dialogue should be 80;--

Likewise, if your ExGFX file is ExGFXA7.bin;--
then your FG3 dialogue should be A7

It's not too difficult once you know how things work regarding graphics bypass, before long it just becomes basic knowledge.

I actually had a rather simple tutorial on ExGFX that I had posted up; which didn't dive into a lot of detail regarding the whole concept, but it really simplified the whole process of ExGFX as a whole; staff told me it was too simple for what they were looking for, thus it was purged. Still, if my tutorial were up, I doubt you'd be having this problem.

EDIT2 (2-27): Hilariously enough, there is now a full guide/tutorial on ExGraphics. You should find it in the tutorial section. Actually wait, why am I editing an old post instead of making a new one? Oh yeah, that's because I'm an asshole.
It seems that you have changed the wrong graphic slot.
You need to insert one of the ExGFX files, specifically "SMB3 Toad House - Graphics (BG1).bin" as any proper ExGFX file (e.g. ExGFX80.bin if you don't use it already) and put the number of the new filename into the slot "BG1" (hence the "BG1" in the filename before renaming).

If you are confused, I recommend you to take a screenshot of the ExGFX bypass and tell us, which ExGFX number you have inserted the foreground-background graphics. That way, we can see where the mistake was done.

Had to turn it off for it to show the graphics. Not sure what the numbers are for the files. Is there any way I can find that?

Edit: I should've said that the files for the ExGFX file didn't say, "ExGFX--"
I see. So you haven't inserted the graphics properly.

When you use ExGraphics, you notice that the included graphic files are often named as "ExGFXyy.bin" whith yy being a number from 80 to FFF. If not (like with the Toad House graphics), then you need to rename the file name to ExGFXyy.bin before you can insert them.
You do the latter with #lm{insexgfx} (in case an error appears, abort the inserted, press the other three buttons first and then try again).

You then open the ExGFX bypass and check, which slot you need to modify. They either were put in the ExGFX filename or mentioned in the readme. Here, it's BG1 as this is how the graphics told it.
In that slot, you use the number you have inserted with ExGFX file (e.g. if the file was renamed as "ExGFX80.bin", you use 80, if the file you have inserted was named "ExGFXAB.bin" then it's AB which you have to use).

That was the problem. Tried renaming the files and everything worked out smoothly! Thanks a lot.
