Your favorite memories/moments from smwc

What a cheesy thread qwoll
Well I like cheesy #ab{>:}

...anyway #w{:>}

What's your favorite memories/moments from smwc?

I personally have a lot of fond memories from the irc days. There was a lot of stupid funny things from back then that nowadays make me smile. I also made my closest smwc friends during that time.

What about you? Your answer doesn't specifically have to be an era like mine, it could also be an event.

My favorite memories were probably from back when I made my VWF patch and a lot of people liked it (and I got tons of trophies that C3), so all that hard work had paid off for me. It was back when smkdan was still around, told me everything I needed to know and was generally a very helpful fellow. Without someone taking the time to explain some advanced stuff to a (back then) unknown and inexperienced hacker like me, the VWF patch probably wouldn't have happened (at least not by me, anyways).

I'm quite fond of my early days, that is, late 2007 and early 2008. This is as subjective as it gets, but the site felt serene yet alive, with exciting things to discover everywhere.

One specific exciting moment I remember is being invited to the staff team in 2009. The entire way home from school I was humming the SMW credits theme in my head. #tb{^^}

-2011 Kaizo contest
-2011 in general
-Being invited to join the staff team in either late 2013 or early 2014. The initial excitement eventually wore off, and boy did it.
-Some of the times when a weird thread that only makes sense in context gets so many replies so fast
-Pretty much any occasion when the usernames turn rainbow colored

The first C3 was pretty memorable. It was new and exciting and people were eager to show stuff off, including me. I put a bit of effort into my presentation, which at the time was a preview of The Essence Star.

That was 10 years ago. Wow.

It's easily the best thing I've done
So why the empty numb?
I'm most fond of 2010. That's when I met most of my best friends. They're all gone from smwc/the internet altogether now, but I still cherish the times I had with them.
The Winter 2018 C3 I'm also pretty fond of. I decided to participate for once rather than lurking around and had a really great time. I've been much more active ever since.
working on my hack Bonni's Quest (so 2009-2010/11). such a carefree time. i just really felt connected to the community; everyone loved me, i loved most people, and also i first joined IRC and was having a blast

on a very different note, i unironically enjoyed splitting the site in half over a pair of panties in 2014, despite the trauma it gave me
It was a fun time for everyone. Also, the panties accomplished their goal, because after all, isn't it every panties' goal to separate one leg from the other? 🤔
If that weren't so, panties would just be miniature skirts, and at that point, why even keep on living? 🤷

Saved this a loooong time ago.

My favorite internet memories, however, all come from SomethingAwful and Retsupurae from back in like 2008 or whenever (back when Slowbeef decided to destroy the internet by inventing video let's plays - seriously, it's been ten years and yet their original series of RPs still gets me dying of laughter to this day).

Hyperlag during the...2017 C3? The one with JackBot and the casino theme and the hyperlag.

There would also be the IRC days. Tons of crap came out of my mouth that made no sense. It was also around the time I registered on SMWC...

...when I thought the internet was a meaningful, realistic, and thoughtful place.
The casino C3 was a fucking blast, I never had as much fun on the internet as I had during it.

My promotion was also very exciting, not because of "wow i got dem skerry powerz!" but because of having access to the secret™ stuff. I recall Lightvayne (was on his way to leave staff yet at the time) saying how I looked like a kid running around in excitement, lol.

Also, winning my first contest. That was huge for me.
Meeting my friends in #hyperpower back in 2013. I don't talk with some of them as much as I did back then, but I'm glad that our friendship is still alive and kicking.

Also, my promotion to staff
(three times ¯\_(ツ)_/¯)

Windowless ride, feeling alive
Are you alive or just breathing?
Like Ladida said, I miss the way I felt connected to the community years ago. Over time I guess things changed, both myself and who the userbase. Eventually I started feeling like I wasn't at home on the site like I once was.

Not to be depressing, though. I did really enjoy everything up to like a few months before I left staff. The IRC was awesome, but I'm not really active enough in the Discord to make a fair comparison with that.

Oh, also I miss actually having motivation to hack. Seems like it happens to most of us.
this is my moment

No joke, my favorite moments here are the present - I'm judging CLDC and I'm having a lot of fun playing and writing reviews, as well as I'm enjoying to effectively help the community by moderating ASM and stuff.

Other memorable moments of mine are releasing MKUCS last year and being Member of the Month in August of last year.
MK2TDS
#hyperpower definitely.

And one favorite moment specifically about the forums was when I made into the staff team when the applications happened in 2012. When I learned I was picked for the team I couldn't help but be super excited about it, looking forward for my first day as a staff member.
I hope I make it to a point where I could give a real answer, but I guess all I can say is from the beginning of my account, people were very supportive, and helpful. I'd at least like to think I've made a friend or two, but maybe not. Over all, I haven't really had a bad experience on here. Sorry this wasn't really a proper answer.
Expect little to nothing from me for now.

Player graphics are the only thing I do right, so come tell me to make one you want.

shitposting on irc, the casino, finishing my first layout myself, my motm which was either september or october 2015, my promotion to staff
shitposting on discord when?
Adding to my post, I vaguely but fondly remember fun times some peeps or the mods would pull off just for the hell of it. Like the time SNN became his fursona or something, the Marceline Grey event, and also many FoS/WoI threads that worked out, where everyone would just play along in. Or at least I in my young mind would :P
But hell. When's the last time a thread's been cased? It seems like forum fun has just been forgotten entirely.

So why the empty numb?
Let's see....

- The SMWC Tipsy Event, also known as the root of my alcohol issues.

- My Banopardy event, when wrong answers to Jeopardy! questions would result in bans of varying intensity.

- The first year of working on SMWCP2, back when everyone was really excited about it.

- Honestly, most of 2011 in general. I think 2011 was an amazing year for SMWC and its community.

- Me making voice recordings, such as the one where I pretended to be a girl.

- The "write a song in an hour" music contests the music staff used to hold.

- This one unusual time back in 2012 when a few of us were in a Skype call, and then S.N.N. and Kieran joined, Smallhacker joined, Kieran tied the call into SMWC so everyone who looked into the site could hear it, and the fun tomfoolery that ensued on Skype and IRC.

That's all I can think of for now. I might swing by later and post more when they occur to me.
