#74: Performance issues with the on-site SPC preview function

Basically a continuation of what I have said in the Minor Coding Suggestions thread. Here's the original post:

Well, first off, I was wondering about one thing: about the SMW (and possibly YI) music section(s), the SPC preview function, while a nice addition, takes an ungodly amount of time to even load properly, and this makes both previewing SPCs and loading the page itself take a unusually high amount of time, even for powerful enough computers like the one I have. Honestly, with how it loads so slowly like that, it would be much better to just download the SPC and listen to it in SPC700 Player than to use that feature at all... Like, would there even be a way to optimize the code or something that would make it load faster, or at least a feature to turn the whole thing off and on when you need it?

Telinc also told me to add some additional information about a few stuff, so I might as well say it:

Operating System: Windows 10
Browser Version: Google Chrome 71.0.3578.98 (IIRC, it's the latest version available, but I may be incredibly wrong on that)

If there's anything else I can add, just tell me what I can do and I'll update it lol, sonce I don't have many ideas on what to add rn (I was goig to send a picture of my computer specs, but I can't seem to change the language of my computer to English, so RIP)

Adding a link to download SPC instead is not a bad idea. Of course it would be a problem if a submission had multiple SPC files included, though.

I don't have a Windows 10 PC, but I tested it with the same Google Chrome version you reported (which is indeed the latest one). The entire SMW Music section takes less than 2 seconds to load even if I disable caching and the parsing of the SPC player JavaScript takes less than 5% of the total time spent displaying the page. I'm genuinely not sure what else could contribute to this problem. I'll see what other PCs I can get my hands on and try to reproduce it.

Has this issue always been present or did it recently appear? If the latter is true, are you sure it isn't related to the snowstorm?

It was always present, yes; ever since the function was created it was like this, and oddly enough, the snowstorm isn't actually affecting the performance on the site or causing anything troublesome on my end; in fact, it's pretty much performing the same even with the snowstorm, so it's not that either :V
