[Super Mario All-Stars] Looking to make a few changes, not sure where to start.

I recently got into the idea of making tweaks to various games, and the first one that I'm looking to change is Super Mario All-Stars. The changes I would like to make are as follows:

1. The game would automatically load Super Mario Bros. 1, bypassing the SMAS title screen and game select menu.

2. Implementation of "SMAS SMB/Lost Levels Brick Fix" and "SMB1/LL Switched Overall Colours" patches that I have already obtained.

3. Making the damage system function like modern Mario games (meaning, Fire Mario becomes Super Mario when hit, instead of Small Mario).

Basically, my goal is to create a SNES port of Super Mario Bros. that uses the modern damage mechanics (similar to the Super Mario Advance series ports), with no other games from All-Stars being accessible. The only things I currently possess are the following:

1. An NTSC ROM file for Super Mario All-Stars (the version that does NOT include Super Mario World, just in case that matters)

2. IPS files for the "SMAS SMB/Lost Levels Brick Fix" and "SMB1/LL Switched Overall Colours" patches, obtained online

3. A fully functional SNES emulator (I'm assuming it doesn't matter specifically which one)

If you have any insight as to where I should begin, please let me know. Thank you.
You could try looking at Yoshifanatic's split disassembly. He has been making a split disassembly of Super Mario World for a while now, but very recently started disassembling the Title Screen, Game Select Screen, and Super Mario Bros. 3 of Super Mario All-Stars + Super Mario World. It's not exactly what you want, but you could take a look at it.

I'll look into it, although to be honest that particular change is the least important. My main concern is making it so Fire Mario can take an extra hit like he does in the modern games, and combining that with the two patches I already have. Removing the SMAS title screen would just be sort of a bonus.

The project I'm working on is a hacked overhaul of my SNES Classic, and since I plan on using the Advance versions of SMB2, SMB3, and World, I figured it would be a little messy for SMAS to still include all four games (especially since the SNES Classic layout already resembles that of SMAS, and would mean SMB1 is behind TWO menus instead of just one).
I'm sorry to bump this thread, but I'm still having no luck figuring out how to make it so Fire Mario turns into Super Mario when taking damage. Are there any SMAS hack experts out there that can point me in the right direction?
You might want to try asking Yoshifanatic. He's not very active on SMWCentral, but he's very active on his Discord server. Try going there and asking him.
