ROM hack won't work on Retropie

So I spent a long time making a smw hack. I originally started it in order to use on my raspberry pi 3 model B running retropie. For whatever reason it does not work. It works fine on PC in Snes9x and even on mobile devices but I can't get this thing to run on retropie to save my life. Retropie is updated to 4.4, the emulators are all up to date, I'm not sure what the issue is. My rom is an SA1 rom and it was expanded to 8 Mb but I am not sure if that is the issue or not. Has anyone else had trouble with this and if so is there a solution? If I am putting this question in the wrong place I apologize but I can't find anything on google with this issue.

More than 100% of the time if a hack breaks an emulator, it's the music. Change the emulator you're using, I've found sometimes the older releases handle new hacks better.

As posted in an emulation subreddit:

Try the different emulators. Use the runcommand menu to switch emulators.

If you've tried all the snes emulators with several different known to be working roms, then there's probably something else wrong.

Also, emulating on a wii or snes classic is another option if the pi won't work.
I appreciate the help. Is there a way to remove addmusick? If it's the custom music screwing things up I can go without it.

this sounds like emulator issue to me, just to confirm, does it play other games that uses SA-1 chip, official and rom hacks?

Try if it plays (for example) super mario RPG and VLDCX, first one uses SA-1 and the latter is hack that has both sa-1 and custom music.
Well I was finally able to get it to run. I removed the header from my rom and now it will at least run on one of retropies emulators. Problem is that it runs really slow. Anyone got any suggestions?
