News: Some Reminders
There's been a few common issues in some recent submissions that I'd like to address to try and make things flow a little quicker moderation-wise.

The first is ROMs. Please, do NOT submit ROM files! Doing so is an instant ban from the site. Please make an IPS patch of your hack instead - it's smaller, and less illegal.

The second, on that note, is hack IPS patches. Please test your patches before uploading, to ensure that they correctly patch to a clean, 512kb SMW ROM. It's very simple to create a working patch using Lunar IPS.

On a more positive note, if you're feeling creative, check out the 2nd Annual Level Design Challenge and the Overworld Design Contest! And if you're interested in coding for SMW, keep an eye out for the ASM Workshop!

In other news, we've had a few recent promotions. Please welcome HyperHacker and Blumiere to the staff team, and congratulate Ersanio on becoming a Global Moderator!

I also wondered how Count Bleck (Blumiere) got the position. His user ID is almost 500 over mine, and as far as I know, he wasn't known on another site like HyperHacker was. On the other hand, though, I know nothing about him, nor have I looked at the Yoshi's Island Hacking forum much. So I really can't and shouldn't judge. Blumiere, if you really are that good, then congratulations to you!

HyperHacker...well, I know he was a member in good standing of Acmlm's Board, so it makes sense in his case. I noticed Smallhacker's comment about them being rivals.

Personally, I'm curious to see how it will turn out. I wonder if either of them will win any awards in the next SMWC Mosts. I wonder what they will be known for...

I also was wondering why Blumiere became staff... but after seeing some of his posts on the Yoshi's Island Hacking forum, I realized that he has REALLY contributed to Yoshi's Island hacking, by making charts and stuff.

That being said, congrats to the newest staff members!

qft

Enjoy your ban, Sunset Sonata.

Nintendo has yet to care about IPS patches. And if you're duplicating original code in your hack, odds are you're doin' it wrong.

Less illegall...
Actually, it is making unauthorised derived works without permission.

Also, for more advanced hacks, the some of the original code could be located in the IPS patch.
