Tip: Entering a door or pipe, activating a P-Switch or grabbing a star, completing the level, hitting a message block, and dying will cause issues on the title screen, such as causing musical glitches, or trapping the player in an endlessly-looping level.

News: nice
Henceforth, replying to any post with nothing more than the word "nice" or a loopholed you-think-you're-being-witty-but-you're-not variation of it will result in an immediate three day ban. Yes, this has seriously become this large of a problem and it's going to stop.
And since some of you still apparently think this is a joke and are trying to push your luck: it's not. If you absolutely must get it out of your system for good, here's a thread for you.
Have a great day.
amhedit: In case this isn't clear, we're using "nice" as an example. This goes for all shitposting in general.
Everyone would be 400% happier if we just went here to hack and have fun, which is pretty much the purpose of us being here after all. Enough stressing with drama and shitposting, that's not healthy for any of us and hence why this article has made.
In real life we already have enough shit and drama, nobody of us want more.
e: I know that I have that attitude sometimes, but I seriously am not trying to imply that. I'm just saying that I don't think this will actually lead to any meaningful changes in the site in the long run. I could be totally wrong.
e2: nvm, apparently that comment wasn't aimed at me. i'm dumb.
honestly, I kind of think it's a bit excessive to be banning people for making stupid puns in the comments.
I mean, I get why staff wants to try and get harsher against shitposting but I seriously doubt that it will last longer than a few weeks. It feels kind of pointless and just causing unnecessary annoyance and drama that will end up being joked about in a month or so.
I dunno, I'm having trouble articulating exactly what I'm trying to say here. I hope you guys get what I mean.
Not yet @dff, I checked and there was some newspost in 2012 with 91 comments, so we've still got a few more posts to go. This is probably the newspost with the highest ban count tho.
The user made that statement because she felt like she was banned because she was not liked rather than the simple fact that she broke a rule by harassing another user. Because, you know, some people think they're above the rules and can get away with things that other users can't. So, it was not a vendetta ban to begin with.
Vendetta ban? I certainly have no vendetta against you and I'm the one who suggested it in the first place. Counterfeit just pulled the trigger for me.
The only thing that's sad is people's inability to simply avoid earning themselves a well deserved ban.
Like its so hard to just read a news post and move on without making a huge deal of it and provoking the staff for whatever reason.
Does this really need to be front page news? I can't imagine this puts this site in a good light if people who only occasionally lurk or are completely new to this site saw this.
Why isn't this posted in the Announcements forum instead?
I would like to clarify that this isn't just about one-word posts since honestly, some points can be gotten across in one word if the answer really is that simple... this is more about contentless posts, the posts that just take up space without providing anything useful, funny, etc.
I would also like to add that it is completely unacceptable for another user to be talking down to another user whether or not he is of the intended audience of this announcement. It is no regular user's place to tell another to stop posting.
or a loopholed you-think-you're-being-witty-but-you're-not variation of it
At least you know she's referring to you, how about stop posting since you've already gotten what SNN said? that's much more useful than plastering a legitimate news post with useless one-liners.
This reminds me of a forum I visited a long time ago. Posts needed to have at least 40 characters so when somebody wanted to post something that was to short they posted like.
"Yeah I agree with you
40 characters
40 characters again"
MercuryPenny (and anyone else who seems to be confused), this does happen often, and he means what he's saying. Posts literally saying nothing more than 'nice' for the sake of being sarcastic or something else pop up a lot.
Personally, I never saw it as too much of a problem, but alright then.
In my mind, one-words posts in general are seldom useful or constructive. That said, I didn't know something like this was really becoming so big of a problem. I'll keep it in mind for the future
Man, I was gonna try and come up with some loopholed you-think-you're-being-witty-but-you're-not variation of it but I couldn't think of a nice way to put it.

ly done, it'd be nice to see the general quality of posts go up, even if by a slight margin. As long as it doesn't result in inane finger pointing, of course. Just don't start a witch hunt on "bad" posts, alright?
