As you may have read, SMWC Idol has returned. This music porting contest however, will run differently than how it originally ran. More details can be found here.
If you can port, you should enter SMWC Idol. If you already planned on entering, check the thread out for the new plan!
Well, another C3 comes to an end. We seem to have grown quite a bit since the first C3 started.
If we extrapolate the amount of posts in future C3s (black curve), we find that our next C3 should have around 5000 posts...? Sheesh! How will we manage that? I guess everyone will have to start working on their submissions already to have enough to produce that many posts. Not doing this is the same as calling Excel a liar, and we don't want Microsoft's lawyers to sue the site into oblivion, now do we?
Start preparing for the next C3 to save SMW Central!
Hi, this is Chester. I've been asked to host C3 this year. I've never done anything like this before, but we'll see how this works out. ^^;;
So, welcome to the fourth Super Mario World Central Creativity Convention. For the next two days, we'll open the C3 forum where people will start publishing awesome stuff. If you have anything to show or release - demos, hacks, screenshots, videos, ASM hacks, graphics, sprites, blocks, you name it - go ahead and post it. C'mon, don't be shy. If you have anything worth showing, do so!
Oh, right. We don't want everything posted on the first day (that would make tomorrow boring), so let's try to spread things out. If you have more than one thing to show, I urge you to post half of it today and wait until tomorrow with the rest. If you only have one thing, I suggest flipping a coin or throwing a die or something to determine which day to post on.
So, uhm... I expect to see lots of awesome stuff this time around. Don't disappoint me. ~_^
Oh, yeah! I almost forgot! I came up with an idea the other day. I figured it would be fun if we all dressed up our avatars as the same thing for the duration of C3. So, keeping it simple, I decided that our theme is "Mario", so give your avatar a cap, a moustache, some overalls or something. If your avatar already is Mario... Um... Give him a second cap...? I dunno, think of something. ^^
Yep, it's almost here again. The spring* 2010 C3 officially starts May 8, so start getting your submissions ready!
For our newcomers, I'll briefly explain what's going on. Twice per year, we host the so-called SMW Central Creativity Convention (more commonly known as C3), an event lasting two days where a lot of people submit their latest hacks, demos, screenshots, trailers, graphics, sprites, ASM hacks, you name it. In other words, it's two days where everyone helps filling a big pool with awesome and you dive into it. So, if you have something awesome to show, don't be shy! The more, the better!
Anyway, the primary reason of this post is to announce the C3 motivational poster contest, the details of which can be found here. If you have any artistic skills, check it out. If you don't, check it out anyway.

If you have signed up for a level for SMWCP and haven't yet started, it is best advised that you do so ASAP. We have moved up to LM 1.71, so you are able to reserve any extra Map16 space you may need. Because of C3 occurring within a couple of weeks (it will be on May 8th/9th), the deadline for SMWCP's levels is officially June 1st.
FuSoYa released another version of Lunar Magic. This one is version 1.71 and fixes some bugs listed in the "what's new" section of the readme. It also has a new ROM expansion feature added. You can find it here.
If you want to discuss this new version of Lunar Magic, post in the Lunar Magic 1.70 thread in SMW hack discussion or something. I don't think there are major changes though; just a couple of minor bugfixes.
Edit: for your information, it does not fix the errors which were on our side. This means that incompatible patches/tools/etc remain incompatible!
