Yep, it's almost here again. The spring* 2010 C3 officially starts May 8, so start getting your submissions ready!
For our newcomers, I'll briefly explain what's going on. Twice per year, we host the so-called SMW Central Creativity Convention (more commonly known as C3), an event lasting two days where a lot of people submit their latest hacks, demos, screenshots, trailers, graphics, sprites, ASM hacks, you name it. In other words, it's two days where everyone helps filling a big pool with awesome and you dive into it. So, if you have something awesome to show, don't be shy! The more, the better!

Anyway, the primary reason of this post is to announce the C3 motivational poster contest, the details of which can be found here. If you have any artistic skills, check it out. If you don't, check it out anyway.

SMWCP and C3
If you have signed up for a level for SMWCP and haven't yet started, it is best advised that you do so ASAP. We have moved up to LM 1.71, so you are able to reserve any extra Map16 space you may need. Because of C3 occurring within a couple of weeks (it will be on May 8th/9th), the deadline for SMWCP's levels is officially June 1st.
Have a swell day.
Yet another Lunar Magic release
FuSoYa released another version of Lunar Magic. This one is version 1.71 and fixes some bugs listed in the "what's new" section of the readme. It also has a new ROM expansion feature added. You can find it here.
If you want to discuss this new version of Lunar Magic, post in the Lunar Magic 1.70 thread in SMW hack discussion or something. I don't think there are major changes though; just a couple of minor bugfixes.
Edit: for your information, it does not fix the errors which were on our side. This means that incompatible patches/tools/etc remain incompatible!
SMWCP News Update
It's the news. It is updated. This one covers some contests; most notably, Vanilla 2010.
You may not have noticed, but us hack moderators are a crabby old bunch. Here are a few things you can do for your hack that will make us that much happier.
Hey, does anyone remember that SMWCnet News YouTube channel? You know, the one that we were totally going to update every week but didn't? Yeah. Two of our lovely hack mods grabbed their c00lshades and revived it.
Check it out here! Thanks to Dotsarecool and Kristian.
Lunar Magic 1.7 released!
This might seem like an April Fools joke, but FuSoYa has indeed released Lunar Magic 1.7 (also known as "The new LM" or "The new LM with lotsa GFX and Map16 space that some people think can do anything they want"). I've tried it out a tiny bit, and it does seem to work fine. More info can be found on FuSoYa's site. Also, you can discuss it here.
(KINSNOTE: This version includes a LOT of new patches to the ROM, so many previously released patches are NOT compatible with it. Kaijyuu and co. is making a list of incompatible patches etc. as they are tested. BACKUP YOUR HACK before bringing it over to LM 1.7, so if things go pearshaped you can resume work in 1.65. We'll keep you posted as patches and utilities are updated for the new version.)
HOLY HOLLYWOOD SCIENCE!
Reaching 10000 registered users has caused a digital binary overflow in the primary user counting buffer! This overflow leaked beyond our dimension into the mataphysical multiverse medium and created a rift in spacetime, forming a passageway to an alternate reality. After some brief exploring, the passageway seems to lead to an alternate timeline version of SMWC which was considerably less successful than SMWC in our universe. I would study it further, but that place creeps me out.
SMWCP - Deadlines
The level confirmation deadline for An SMW Central Production has been set! If you have confirmed your level in the appropriate thread, you're good to go. If you have reserved a level and the person you are taking over from has NOT confirmed that they are working on their level, you're in. Check this table for a list of who is working on what. Green levels are completed; blue levels are in progress.
Note that the deadline for all level submissions will likely be in early May, so you have the entire month of April to finish your level(s). If you have taken on a few and feel you may need more time, we might extend it if needed.
Thanks again to all of you who have shown your support in this project. Let's make some magic.
