It has been a week since the first new Lunar Magic version in forever, and it's already time for another version: 1.65. This version fixes some bugs related to saving to MWL files (as well as emulating the midway point bar splitting up at screen boundaries). Download it at FuSoYa's site.
Also, it's now just a little over a month until the third biannual C3. If you're new to the site, Super Mario World Central Creativity Convention, also known as C3, is a forum event where a lot of people release their latest work: hacks, demos, trailers, graphics, sprites, ASM hacks, you name it. If you have anything to show, show it at C3. Like always, there will be trophies to win for the best entries in various categories. So, if you don't have anything to show off, get to work already. If you don't post anything at C3, Smallhacker will personally find you and glue a "kick me" sign to the back of your head. All those flight tickets will be expensive as heck, so please think of Smallhacker's economy and prepare something for C3.
Oh yeah, the date. C3 of fall 2009 starts on November 7 and goes on for 48 hours. As usual, we don't want everything posted on the first day, so we urge you to flip a coin or something to decide what day to post your entry on.
Let's make sure this C3 becomes even more awesome than the previous two!
I have risen.
That grave sure was cramped. Curse that S.N.N. and his foul ways of sealing spirits away.
The festivities have begun. Follow the thread here for details!
October's MOTM + Events.
The Member/Staff of the Month thread for October is now up. Find it here.
It may also interest you to know that Halloween events will start in a couple of days. Stay tuned for updates.
New Board Feature & Problems
I myself do not know when this was implemented, but it's a neat-o feature. If you look at the top right corner, you see something like:
Users: 7,409 (1,457 active)
Latest: Zedison
It shows how many of the members are actually active and visit regularly. As can be seen, we don't have a lot in comparison to our actual number of registered users...
There's also a check box in the member list searcher that enables showing active and inactive accounts in your searches.
Hope that clears any questions up.
Release of Lunar Magic 1.64
What better moderator to deliver this news than me, a YI hacker. >.>
Anyway, for all you SMW hackers, this is the news for you. For all you users that don't give a crap about SMW, this probably won't interest you at all.
FuSoYa, today, has released Lunar Magic 1.64. Although the new build mostly contains bug fixes, it also has some added features, such as (in FuSoYa's words) "support for customizing the display of custom sprites in the editor". That's probably the only update most of you will care about though.
(Oh, and today is also Lunar Magic's birthday! Happy 9th birthday, LM!)
New forum.
We have created a Hack and File Removal forum to ensure better organization upon removing files. You can find it directly below "The Site", or if you are too lazy to look, it is right here.
Final warning
You have 24 hours until the name change system is taken down. If you want a name change, I suggest you do it now.
I've opened two additional ports for the IRC server. The setup is now as follows:
Normal connection is avaliable on port 6667 and 8067. SSL is available on port 6666 and 6697.
Also, PLEASE STOP BUMPING YOUR OWN THREADS WITHOUT CONTRIBUTING TO THE TOPIC!!! Bumping it to ask another question is okay, but bumping for more attention is not.
Bad example: "I SAID HELP ME WHY DO YOU IGNORE ME I HATE YOU" (The bad language and caps spam is beside the point.)
Good example: "Okay, I understand how to insert the graphics, but the colors are all messed up." (Assuming the original thread was on how to insert graphics and it's your own thread. Bumping others's threads is still bad.)
On a slightly different note, the September Member of the Month has been decided. Link!
SMWC's first "chocolate" level contest
It's here. The contest everyone has been waiting for has finally arrived - the "no-holds-barred" level design contest.
