So, what happenend?

Frankly, I have no idea. It has been brought to my attention that my host had the server down for maintenance yesterday, so this must be a mistake on their part. Judging from the MySQL error message, the table keeping track of the NEW labels broke.

Fixing it was simple, I just removed the old table and created a new one. Due to this, every forum has basically been marked read for every user. I figured it wasn't much of a loss.

A "Friendly" Reminder

Please test your patches, to make sure they were created properly and do not crash the game before submitting them!!! I've had to remove a surprising amount of these recently, and it's getting a bit depressing.

Signs to look out for:
- Patched ROM's filesize isn't rounded off to the MB (1mb, 2mb, etc.)
- Upon loading, SNES9X's info text is yellow and mentions a "bad checksum"
- The game crashes on the titlescreen or selecting a file.
- The patch does nothing.
- The patch doesn't seem to include the ExGFX.

If you see any of these, you might want to try remaking the patch from a clean ROM. If you still don't have any luck, ask politely on the forums.

Another friendly reminder from Oni:
If you notice that your layout is somehow mimicing another user's layout, change the CSS Classes! Also, make sure to backup your codes, that way we don't have people losing them because we didn't back them up after we nuked them!

Woohoo

I'm sure we all saw this coming.

WE NOW HAVE OVER ONE THOUSAND SUBMISSIONS TO THE ExGFX SECTION!!

Feel free to party. Beer is on the house all day.

SNN'S NOTE: If you have not watched this video, it is of dire importance that you do. Thank you.

ONI's NOTE: Okay, i already made a note of this in the layout request shop, but obviously it didn't sink in. If you notice that your layout is somehow mimicing another user's layout, change the CSS Classes! Also, make sure to backup your codes, that way we don't have people losing them because we didn't back them up after we nuked them!

Title Screen Contest

Today's the final day of the Title Screen Contest, so don't forget to submit your entries; you don't want to miss the grand prize of $40, do you?

(For additional info, see the thread.)

Exciting news

Since there is nothing overly exciting to note, I'll simply mention that the overworld contest has been judged, and the results are here.

Also, remember that the next C3 is only a month and a half away. It will occur on the first weekend in May, which happens to be May 2 and May 3. Make sure you're preparing your awesome hacking related stuff for it!

Kieran's edit: Actually, it will most likely be postponed. Stay tuned.

Broozer's edit: I would like to thank everyone who has recently contributed to the site by submitting ExGFX files to it - we have OVER 990 ExGFX files available in the nearest ExGFX section now, and we will hopefully have a thousand soon!

Happy St. Patrick's Days

To all our Irish members, we wish you a happy St. Patrick's day.
To everyone else, I wish you a happy-drink-alcohol-till-you-pass-out day. ^_^

Also, if you are interested in a tentative Tetris Attack/Panel de Pon tournament, please check here!

In other words: Ersanio is a loser.

Also, it's come to our attention that a number of users are changing their name colours (colors) with HTML. Any users caught doing this will get a short ban. Those who are doing this have until March 20th to change this before any punishments take place.

Buu-Huu: Let's revel a bit in nostalgia. ;3

We're back!

We're back from the dead with a fresh new look (thanks to spigmike). It took a little longer than expected due to my host being slow, but everything should be in order. I will be writing more about what happened later on. For now, I just hope you enjoyed your day off.

Edit: Details here.

By the way, I highly recommend that you change your password. If you don't, you might risk your account getting hijacked.

Some Reminders

There's been a few common issues in some recent submissions that I'd like to address to try and make things flow a little quicker moderation-wise.

The first is ROMs. Please, do NOT submit ROM files! Doing so is an instant ban from the site. Please make an IPS patch of your hack instead - it's smaller, and less illegal.

The second, on that note, is hack IPS patches. Please test your patches before uploading, to ensure that they correctly patch to a clean, 512kb SMW ROM. It's very simple to create a working patch using Lunar IPS.

On a more positive note, if you're feeling creative, check out the 2nd Annual Level Design Challenge and the Overworld Design Contest! And if you're interested in coding for SMW, keep an eye out for the ASM Workshop!

In other news, we've had a few recent promotions. Please welcome HyperHacker and Blumiere to the staff team, and congratulate Ersanio on becoming a Global Moderator!

Two official contests at the same time!? + Workshop

If level-making isn't your thing and you'd rather try your hand at creating the greatest Overworld ever, check out the Overworld Design Contest!

You have been challenged SMWCentral! Hope to see you in at least one of the contests!

Also, soon there will be a 65c816 ASM workshop. More info can be found here -Ersanio
