So I'm just wondering, when will the results be posted?
When we've finished judging. Not necessarily sure how long judging will take since I don't have a good reference to compare this one to, unlike any of the level design contests. We'll do our best to get them out to you guys in a timely manner regardless.
Apologies for the major lack of updates on this. I'll try to keep this quick and sweet. Two things have been keeping me from being active recently: internet and work.
Parents couldn't afford internet anymore sometime in late June so I've been living on phone data and wifi hotspots since then. After nearly two months though, I finally have a stable source of internet in my house again. Along with that, I've been working over 40 hours a week consistently which unfortunately has left me with little time and energy. Thankfully my last day of work is the 21st of this month, so that isn't much of an issue anymore. Hopefully that explains my absence a bit without sounding too whiny.
Now onto a progress report. As of right now:
- Bebn is done judging!
- Major Flare is done judging!
- Scrydan is about halfway through the entries.
- I (Veck) am currently 16 entries in.
Scrydan has been in a similar situation as me with real life factors taking up a majority of his focus. Thankfully, things are also settling down with him too now, so if things continue on this path then we should both be done with judging shortly. We judges appreciate your patience with us on this. If there are any further questions, please don't hesitate to let us know in this thread.
And I've finished my judging! Sincere apologies for just how long it actually took me to finish, but I didn't realize just how much life would get in the way of just about everything when I first started out. Believe it or not, I actually feel like I've learned quite a lot having just gone through all these overworlds. That includes new techniques I didn't realize were even possible, and just how much room there is for custom resources in more recent versions of Lunar Magic.
Big ol' night person myself. Pretty sure I always have been, too, considering I have very vivid memories of staying up until 1 or 2 in the morning as a young child. I love nighttime, it gives me some alone time which I don't get much of anymore, and it all feels really peaceful. Unfortunately going to school in the mornings and/or working full-time during the day don't really mix well with my tendency to stay awake at night, so these past few months have been very, er... interesting.
I think I've said this on the site sometime before, but whatever. My aspiration in life (career-wise anyway) is to become a fiction writer. It's been the same for a long, long time and while I'm unfortunately not able to pursue a degree or anything related to it due to financial reasons, it's still a very vivid thought in my head whenever I think about the future.
It's been a longer road than anticipated, but the day is finally here. There were originally 31 entries submitted to this contest, but we disqualified 5 entries and as such they have not been scored; details will be written below. Without further ado, the judges along with myself present to you this year's Overworld Design Contest results:
- Globetrotters Inn: submitted a broken bps patch
- Dispace: submitted two submissions?
- xyz600sp: ^
- Sariel: the final patch breaks
- AyGaAlPa: essentially submitted a full hack (including full levels)
