Hello, I'm Chuckles, and I've been hacking SMW for almost a year. I'm not too good at level design, but I do have a lot of experience in ASM and I am good at creating graphics.

Yes, you would need to learn a programming language. I don't know which would be best, but a lot people (at least the ones I know) use either C++ or C#. Do you know the format of the level data in the rom? That's pretty important. Anyways, good luck with the tool. Wario Land II was one of my favorite GB games, and I would love to see some hacks of it.

Well, I don't know much about Variable Width fonts myself, but have you asked anybody at
Romhacking.net
? They mostly do translation hacks, so they know a lot of things about VWFs.
By the way, what game are you hacking? It looks interesting.

This looks interesting, though it seems strange to have two Sonics in the same game.
The 2D parts look just as cool as the 3D parts, and the graphics look very nice.
Too bad it won't be released for the Wii...

The same way you would insert ASM into Super Mario World.
Insert the ASM with Xkas. You would have to hijack a routine that would occur at the same time you want your ASM code to occur, and you would need a Super Metroid ROM map for this of course.

This has some disassemblies of different parts of the ROM.

I don't know how this would turn out in SMW form, but I know it would be epic. Very fitting for boss music.

I'm looking for a good game based off of an anime or something that has a story like one. I don't care what kind of game it is, but I'd like an RPG or metroidvania kind of game (I've never played a metroidvania game, and I'd like to try one).
