Total space on my drive used is 42GB. Naturally, Windows is the biggest folder, at 17GB. Both of my Program Files folders combined is the next biggest, at 5GB. I have about 500MB in my hacking/ROMs folder. Super Mario Bros. X holds about 200MB. And despite how many things I have in my Pictures library, it's only got about 18MB.
So I recently downloaded a Mario Paint ROM (a few minutes ago actually). When I loaded it up in '9x, I expected the mouse to immediately enable, but it didn't. So I enable the mouse. I then move my mouse expecting it to work... it didn't. I tried it in ZSNES, apparently it didn't have mouse support (EDIT: apparently it does, will edit again once tried). So I kind of need help now.
By the way, the download I got was PAL. Would that have any effect?
So I'm putting a Switch Palace switch in a Wendy battle, okay? So to prevent the switch from turning into two Lemmy heads when it's pressed, I made an ExGFX file replacing it with the pressed switch graphic. Once I've saved it as GFX80.bin in the ExGraphics folder, I went to the Super GFX Bypass window, only to see that GFX file 80 hadn't been inserted. That was me being stupid, because I hadn't inserted it yet. So I hit the 'Quick Insert ExGFX to ROM' button, and opened up the Super GFX Bypass window again. I look at file 80, and it still says Not Inserted. I try anyway, and Wendy's sprites, rather expectedly, was ruined. I press 'Quick Extract ExGFX from ROM', and GFX80.bin is still in the folder.
Speaking of that, any graphics that I edit in YY-CHR won't insert properly. They're edited when I reload the file in YY-CHR, and they insert without errors, but in-game they're unchanged.
So, I've had the hack freeze three times so far. The first was in the house with the Mushroom above the door in Toad Town. The second is when I tried to take the warp near the beginning, and then it froze again on the 'Mario Start!' screen. Everything works fine on ZSNES, but I'd really rather play it on Snes9x.
EDIT: Forgot to say, the program crashes every time I try to open it without the 'Open ROM' dialog.
-3 Windows Explorer windows
-Google Chrome (6 tabs)
-3 Snes9x windows
-2 YY-CHR windows
-Volume Mixer (used it to mute Snes9x so I could listen to music while playing, don't ask why I still have it up)
-Windows Movie Maker
Fifteen windows. That's... more than I usually have up. =P
Another Mario Adventure is a hack that I started work on a few months ago. It's what I call a "Strawberry" hack; one that has mostly vanilla graphics with some chocolate mixed in. The plot goes something like this: Mario and the Princess are going on a walk, when they manage to get themselves lost. Then, practically right on cue, Bowser comes. And what he does, you can probably guess. Mario then finds out that he's in a place called Dinosaur Land.
If you've played it before - back when I had submitted it - you might remember the horrible boss battle at the end. It's gone for now, but I just have to learn a little more ASM (and get LevelASM to work) and I'll have a functioning boss battle that you might remember from a newer game.
I sort of need some beta testers, actually, because every time I release an IPS, I then immediately find out that oh no I've made a stupid mistake that prevents the players from progressing. Whenever I complete a level I'll create an IPS and PM it to you guys.
