...Why there are Sonic Graphics in a hack staring Yoshi is beyond me.
You would have to know how much I hate Sonic to know how much of a compliment this is: This hack looks simply amazing!
World 2 is Sonic's world (the location here is South Island), and Yoshi is here for storyline reasons (which will be progressively revealed as you play through the hack). Also, even though you dislike Sonic, I'm glad you really like the hack anyway! If you want to see some of World 1's content, it's on the thread's first page (also, there's a link to the C3 thread, which had more of World 1 than was posted here).
Well, that answers why the style changes. I figured it would be a special or bonus world thing, but since there is actual storyline reasons, i'm guessing Sonic is somehow involved? Right?
P.S. Ok, maybe I don't HATE Sonic, i'm just not crazy about him, and thats just the new games, i'm actually sort of fond of the older Sonic games, where being good required more than holding down the right button.Eh, sure. Why not? Kaizo hacking doesn't seem too ha-aaaaaaand I broke the ROM.
This hack is looking pretty nice. Although I know its already been said, there is some OW perspective errors, although I have no room to talk, my overworlds are really bland. Your OW is still better than mine.Eh, sure. Why not? Kaizo hacking doesn't seem too ha-aaaaaaand I broke the ROM.

I cant find the perspective errors! Can you tell me were they are?
The cliffs aren't...well...cliff...ey(I guess) enough for me(EDIT: Now I know the term I was looking for: a little flat), add some rocks and cracks and stuff. The cliff with the pipe co close to the other cliff looks sort of odd. Maybe make the cliffs less tall or something(Edit: So you can see water in between those two cliffs). This is just my opinion, but the bridge kind of looks weird too. Maybe make a small part of the other island show...unless of course, thats supposed to be a broken bridge. I like almost any hack that DOESN'T star SMW Mario, because that usually means that the hacker cared that much more about the hack. Sorry to sound so picky...
EDIT 2: Actually, I took a longer look, and really the only problem is the cliff thing, try adding the corners, etc.Eh, sure. Why not? Kaizo hacking doesn't seem too ha-aaaaaaand I broke the ROM.
I FIXED THE FLAGPOLE GLITCH! Here's how I did. You know when I said repeatedly that the freespace wasn't the problem:

Yeah, I set freespace, maybe I set it to a bad address or something. I'll check the asm file.
Edit: I'm starting to think its not the freespace, does anyone know what the freeram is for?

I'm starting to think that the "freeram" or whatever (not freespace, I know what that is) might be the same for more than one of the patches, I need to check...
Just my luck...guess EXACTLY what the problem was, come on, just a wild guess. THAT'S RIGHT! I accidently set the freespace to the PC ADDRESS instead of the LOROM ADDRESS! Oh well, we all make mistakes! Now I can work on cranking out a demo!Eh, sure. Why not? Kaizo hacking doesn't seem too ha-aaaaaaand I broke the ROM.

Somewhat, also there are a few other worlds Yoshi visits as well.
Well, most of this world is based on the older games, so here you won't be dissapointed. Everyone has their opinions, and besides Sonic Colors, there won't be any references to the newer games.
Yeah, sorry if I offended anybody, but lets face it, I personaly know big time Sonic fans who dislike most of the newer games *cough*Sonic 2006*cough*...Eh, sure. Why not? Kaizo hacking doesn't seem too ha-aaaaaaand I broke the ROM.
Yep, now everything, (except the one way only scrolling) is replicated from SMB1, even a Bowser boss (but i've yet to change the graphics)! A demo will probably come out sometime soon, when I have access to my main computer. (But not actually submitted, just put in the file bin for beta/play testing)
EDIT: Yeah, you wouldn't believe how hard I was laughing at myself when I found the problem!
EDIT2: Maybe i'll replicate the problem on a copy of my hack, then record it and post it on my youtube so you guys can see what was happening...you know, just for laughs!Eh, sure. Why not? Kaizo hacking doesn't seem too ha-aaaaaaand I broke the ROM.

Anyways, the cube wisp is a unique idea for your hack, although it does look a bit strange. I wouldn't change it though; at least it makes sense.
...it is? I've never even heard of Sonic Colors...
...but lets get back on topic, I can't wait to see what you do with this hack next!Eh, sure. Why not? Kaizo hacking doesn't seem too ha-aaaaaaand I broke the ROM.
Alright! I made a userbar using an online userbar generator. I may post a link later.
Edit: Here's a link to the site I used: Click here!
Heres the userbar:

For those worrying about this project being dead or something, don't worry, i'm just busy with school and stuff.Eh, sure. Why not? Kaizo hacking doesn't seem too ha-aaaaaaand I broke the ROM.
I hate to sound like a n00b, but how do you make custom titles? I don't want the question block as my icon, so I wanted to know how to make a custom one like some of the users here. I've looked all over the edit profile page, but can't find where you change it.Eh, sure. Why not? Kaizo hacking doesn't seem too ha-aaaaaaand I broke the ROM.
You need to hurry and get some screenshots for the following reasons:
1) The mods will close the thread otherwise.
2) People like to see screenshots
3) People can comment so you know what to fix, thats the whole point of the works in progress thread.Eh, sure. Why not? Kaizo hacking doesn't seem too ha-aaaaaaand I broke the ROM.
*sniff* I've been looking at this hack since you created the thread, and that first level is beautiful! I can't believe how much time you must have spent on this! Can't wait for the demo! Also, I don't care about how fast the water moves, I honestly care more about custom graphics and level design. I hope you keep working on this.Eh, sure. Why not? Kaizo hacking doesn't seem too ha-aaaaaaand I broke the ROM.
Oh, sorry for wasting your time, I thought there was someway for anyone. Oh well, I guess i'll just wait for the ranks to come back up.Eh, sure. Why not? Kaizo hacking doesn't seem too ha-aaaaaaand I broke the ROM.

I really like it
What will come after SMB3? SMW? And are every Time machines Mario brosish?
Actually, i've been keeping it secret what World 2 will be, but i've already made custom graphics and even my first song port for World 2. I'll get a vid posted soon, and trust me, if you know what the original game was, it will be a BIG hint about where World 2 will be. (Hint: It is also a SNES game)
Edit 2: Actually, yes, the original Mario Bros was a big inspiration for the time machine levels for three reasons, 1) I saw a vid of NES Mario Bros not too long ago, 2) The game that was a main inspiration to the whole time machine theme(trying to do better, I didn't like the educational Mario games) was "Mario's Time Machine", and it had NES Mario Bros themed mini-levels. 3) I've played a lot on the Mario Bros. Minigame on Superstar Saga lately...Eh, sure. Why not? Kaizo hacking doesn't seem too ha-aaaaaaand I broke the ROM.
I don't know why, I usually make my own Map16 pages. Maybe it has something to do with the page you're viewing, try scrolling to a different Map16 page and see if that helps. If that doesn't work, you could always just insert it to a different ROM, note which tiles it uses/what it acts like, and enter it in manually to your hack.Eh, sure. Why not? Kaizo hacking doesn't seem too ha-aaaaaaand I broke the ROM.
I would like to know if someone could post a tutorial on how to make custom powerups. Please don't say something like: you need to start with blocks and work your way up! I do know how to make some custom blocks, but I haven't started sprites yet. I'm asking because I haven't seen one yet for power-ups. If there is one please post a link or something.Eh, sure. Why not? Kaizo hacking doesn't seem too ha-aaaaaaand I broke the ROM.
...wow, thats looking pretty neat so far! So good that I think I need to learn the n00b boss. Glad to see you're making progress, and I hope the rest of your hack turns out well!Eh, sure. Why not? Kaizo hacking doesn't seem too ha-aaaaaaand I broke the ROM.

I finished the demo, I liked it but I think you should use the original smb sprites as mario looked a bit weird. Also after the time machine level when you became smb2 mario, when you jump you turn back into smb mario and then back to smb2 mario.
Glad you like it so far! Thats because I haven't finished the Mario 2 ExGFX (I wanted to make sure there wasn't anything wrong with the Mario 1 levels before I moved on), I know that glitch is there. The Mario sprites are usually the last graphics I make because they're the hardest to make. Trust me, i'm VERY glad thats the only thing wrong, because thats easy to fix. The SMB ducking sprites aren't there because the ducking sprites are two tiles, they wouldn't fit. So I recolored the SMW ones. Thats honestly not a big issue, but I can't use the tilemap editor because it uses AllGFX, and trust me, the AllGFX is a big pain to use, especially for this hack, because I would have to use only one Mario. The patches that extend Mario are very complicated, (at least, too much so for me...)...so... yeah, I hope I can find a fix for that before I finish the hack (or learn ASM that deals with more than custom blocks...) Either way, the final release (all worlds) hopefully won't have that.Eh, sure. Why not? Kaizo hacking doesn't seem too ha-aaaaaaand I broke the ROM.
I'll be a tester, I can do both, but i'm better at bug testing. If you need me to test anything, just PM me. I'll get to it as soon as I can.
EDIT: Could someone also test my hack, I'd do it myself (EDIT2: ...and I have), but I want to make sure there's nothing I missed.Eh, sure. Why not? Kaizo hacking doesn't seem too ha-aaaaaaand I broke the ROM.

Hey there. Just another problem...
When I use these custom graphics for the turn block, like here:
*picture*
The pallete changed when I hit it and when not. I have no idea how to fix this. I tried changing the pallete in YY-CHR, but look:
*picture*
^ The one in GFX00
*picture*
^ The one in GFX33
See? It's exactly the same. Is there a pallete I need to fix somewhere? I am really clueless now...
Well, it helps if you make a savestate with ZSNES (yes, only ZSNES works, i've tried SNES9x before) in your level, and then open it as the save state in YY-CHR. Then you can see the real colors. Did you remember to change the one in GFX14? There's also a turnblock in that file. I'm not sure if it's the one it shows when it's hit, but it can't hurt to try...Eh, sure. Why not? Personally, i've never had trouble porting music (well DUH DarkBones! You use Romi's), but personally, I think this would help plenty of people.
...wait, wait, wait... you're planning a PREVIEW FUNCTION?! Thank goodness! I'm pretty sure you must know just how tedious inserting and reinserting to listen is during music porting!Eh, sure. Why not? Kaizo hacking doesn't seem too ha-aaaaaaand I broke the ROM.
