Just a quick question for later, does anyone think that Prince Froggy would make a good World 2 Castle Boss. Because I wanted a custom order for the bosses. Plus the only bosses that I'm leaving in the original castles are the first one (forget his name, wasn't it "Big Burt" or something like that?), and Baby Bowser (obviously...).

So if I understood it correctly, you've made a pipe in order to make Yoshi play the Bonus Game? Never tested that, so it could be, that you must use a door to make it. Try using a door (the best choice for that is Sprite 04E, easily place a key nearby it). If it still doesn't work, then I don't know. Are there any other screen exits around the one leading to the bonus game?

Well, it's the only exit on the screen, so it must mean I have to use a door. Oh well, now that I think about it, one of those rooms where you have to defeat all of the enemies to get a flower would fit there better anyway...

EDIT: Um... the settings above aren't working for a sublevel either for some reason. Can you only use the sublevels that say that they're for the main level?

Actually, I was wondering if he was too hard for World 2. The World 2 theme is a Jungle/Bog, and you can't edit his boss room, so thats why I considered getting him out of the way early.

I've got a couple of ideas, sorry, no pictures, and sorry if someone already said something similar, I didn't read the whole thread:

Mecha-rex: Kind of like a regular rex, but mechanical. You can stomp on it to it small, but you can't kill it completely. While it is small, it goes through you, but after a short while, it will regenerate back into a full-sized Mecha-rex.

Fire Lakitu: Kind of a mix between a Lakitu and a fire bro. Throws fire instead of spinies, and when the fire hits, it spreads for a while like a sumo bro's fire.

Ice Lakitu: See above, but replace all instances of "Fire" with "Ice" and icicles shoot out of the ground instead of spreading fire.

Thunder Lakitu: See "Fire Lakitu" but replace all instances of "Fire" with "Thunder".

Well, thats all I have for now...well, except for a joke I had before I saw SmallHacker beat me to a "making fun of self" gag, and I would look like a copycat.

Offtopic: Someone PM me when signups start. I HAVE to get one of the swamp, water or space levels!

Off Topic: OH MY GOD! I just got answered by Yoshicookiezeus. You're the entire reason I started SMW Hacking! I remember when I had seen some vids of your hack, and I said to myself, "I want to make something like that one day." You're the whole reason i'm even here typing this! I really enjoyed playing "The Cookie Crisis" (more like enjoying replaying it for the 3rd time...) and "ASMT" (just started). Thanks for the help!

For those still waiting on this hack, I just had a close call lately, my hard drive nearly crashed, and I almost lost all of my progress! I'm guessing that was just a warning to make sure to start backing things up.

MUST GET LEVEL 133! Want to know what my idea is? Well, you know that one level from ASMCP1, where its SMW2: Yoshi's Island themed? Well, I'm going to make a tribute to some of my favorite Mario games. I'm planning on making a level themed like SMB1, then goes to a SMB2, a SMB3, and finally a Super Mario Land themed area. If thats too many sublevels, i'll probally cut out the SMB1&SMB2 parts, but I have to keep the other two, as they will be the major parts.

That's a horribly unoriginal idea and you do know that we want to have a full on custom soundtrack and graphics set, right?
That means you won't be able to reference older Mario games at all, which is good.


By "tribute" I meant some of the level gimmicks and styles of some other Mario games, like vertical wrapping levels (SMB2/3), cloud themed bonus areas (SMB3) and a black and white palette (SML), but if its THAT unoriginal, I can probally come up with another idea by then, it was just a thought.

EDIT: Oh, and before I forget, personally, I thought making a SML themed level was pretty original, so far i've only seen ONE (count 'em, 1) custom SML themed anything for SMW (and it was a sprite...), but like I said above, I can easily come up with another gimmick...

no, he means that we are aiming to use completely custom-made GFX, not rips of any kind. So no using any SMB1 ExGFX. We are making our own ExGFX.


...Darn...I stink at making custom ExGFX, just look at how every single custom GFX set i've submitted turned out (of course, one was just a blatant edit made upon request...i'm refering to the thwomp). I'm going to have to learn to get REALLY good with pixel art if I don't want to use someone elses ExGFX...lucky for me, my idea for a level keeps changing, right now, i think I'll go for the carnival or floating island instead, a lot of gimmicks could be used for both...

I would like it if someone who's good at making GFX would make a tutorial about how to make good Graphics with stuff like shading, working with palettes, etc. That would definatly up the quality of Graphics submitted to the site.
Plus, I would like to make completly custom that are good enough to submit to the site, and maybe even good enough for SMCP2...

Edit: Nevermind, I was able to find a tutorial that covered what I needed.

I think I've finally decided which level i'll try to make. You know how it says in the Carnival World's Castle thread that it would be hard to make? Well, that doesn't scare me. I have an idea to start out in the courthouse of the castle with a carnival theme, and then inside will be a funhouse theme! I'm planning on calling it "Funhouse Fortress". <sarcasm> I know! Creative! Right! </sarcasm> Anyway, please tell me if this is more creative than the whole tribute thing.

I'm in support of this too. I hate it when hacks make you abuse Yoshi like that! (It may also be partly because i'm a big Yoshi fan, but thats besides the point...) Plus, you do realize that if you're going to make the ASM to make the Thwomps safe to touch, why not just make a custom sprite? Then you could use both kinds of Thwomps, and everyone can be happy!

I post there occasionally, because I hack SMRPG from time to time, but probably the main reason SMRPG hacking isn't so popular is because its harder to replicate the graphics style. Like others before me said, being inactive is no reason to remove a thread. (...unless it was spam to begin with...)

EDIT: Oh wait...just to clarify, are you talking about Toad's Tool 64? Because thats not new.
