This is my first hack using lunar magic. Still getting the hang of things but making good progress. I would like any feedback after you play this if you could (may include screenshots if you need to). Have Fun! I in NO WAY claim the music on here as my own. I would like to shout out to RedToonLink for helping me get started. If these screenshots don't sell you, check out videos on youtube "Super War World - 'Levelname'". NOTE: Check back for updates. These are gonna mainly be bug fixes but will release big updates as they come (aka, new sections to my map). On my To Do list:
Finish world map (including a volcano, mountains, and a dessert)
Think of names for the levels.
Think of more game references then Cave Story and Legend of Zelda.
Add custom sprites and bosses.
Fix glitch with the second OW exit....

{UPDATE}
(P.S. Sorry for the HUGE delay... I kinda forgot.)
Built worlds 3-5 and 2 levels in world 6.
Changed some graphics (Status bar, load screen)
ScreenShots: (Some levels shown are incomplete but in the demo if you wish to try)

Videos (if you still unsure of trying it):

[WARNING] Videos may be slightly outdated and the levels may not be the exact same...

So remember kids! If you ever get caught having tosave a princess from a foreign land after getting dragged down a drain pipe, jumping while spinning in a circle can help you greatly by allowing you to jump on spinning saw blades, ghosts, and allow you to control your jump better!

(Even though I have a feeling it'll look like garbage...)

I thought of that IMMEDIATLY after posting this. I got some on the way (and note that if there are graphics glitches, I am aware AND trying to fix them. Namely a Map16 glitch.

Hey there, so I was feeling generous enough to try it out. I finished most of the demo (Since I'm a speed runner). I'm not sure if you wanted me to post screen shots to the mistakes that needed to be fixed so I won't without your permission.

Bonzai Flats: It seemed like a slightly redone version of the original level 105, and the level seemed kind of dead. No enough sprites or coins.

Buzzy Bunker: Didn't really have a compliant for this level.

Mushroom Waters: I actually thought you did good on this level, despite the one of the platforms sprite glitch

Yoshi's Post: All though there's cut off at parts, I thought this was a pretty fun level and I like the background palette.

Shadow Forest: I actually didn't find many problems with this level Accept for bomb bomb that's looks like it's suppose to be used as a light. (Might want to fix that) and that tree at the end

Boo's Abode: Not really many complaints here accept there were a few boos that disappeared when they moved.

Koopa Plains: Not a bad level but I found quiet a bit of cut offs here. There was a problem with the Background too but I don't know how to explain it without screen shots.

That's as far as I got. I say over all it's a decent hack, pretty good for your first though. It needs work however. Fix the cut offs, try and spice up the levels and I'd use custom palettes, but that's just my opinion. I'll admit, it was somewhat better then I expected.

Just so you know, there are 3 more levels. The main exit to Koopa Plains, The secret of Koopa Plains (XD) and the secret of Boo's Abode.

Also, I am gonna try quickly to fix the cutoffs (including the background on Koopa Plains, I just am having problems and don't know why). Also, I set the Dark Room sprite for Shadow Forest, and the bombomb is supposed to be the light. dunno how to fix that (you know? I want the darkness not th bomb)

Oh..I guess both secrets I'm unsure to get then. However I did The water level. I didn't many problems, just mainly the background.

Well I'm not quiet sure what you mean for the bomb. If you mean you don't want the bomb to be there at all, just delete it.

But if you wanted the spot light to be there but not the bomb you have to set it set it to the correct GFX (Which is Ninji)

I don't want a light (or in this case, a bomb) but I want the darkness. Makes the level, i dunno, suit the theme?

Also *SPOILER* to get the secrets:
A) Boo's Abode: Go to the normal exit but hit the coin block above it and make a platform. then jump onto a ledge above that (should be the VERY top of the screen from the main exit door).

B) Koopa Plains: You need a cape (2 makes life easier). After the checkpoint, run, fly, and float to where the Green box outlines are. There should be a key. Take the key to a pit just ahead (just past the yellow boxes). Drop the key in it and run back and fly over the yellow boxes. There is a POW. Take it down to the pit with the key and activate it there (do not fear. you must activate it there or you CAN'T make it to the lock.)

Alrighty I shall do that soon. When i've tested the other level I edit this post with feedback.

As for having the darkness without the light I don't recall a way to do that unfortunately.

alright. I will see if I can get the program for adding sprites working. If I do I will try to find a Darkness sprite. as for now..... that is what we have to deal with unfortunatly (thank goodness that I didn't have a switch for that...... it would look realy crazy.....)

I like it. But try maybe a forest tileset and use the logs? I dunno, may make it look better. Also, maybe have a huge airship and a small fleet of smaller boats underneath? Also..... how did you get the giant picture and link working? I try but it doesn't work for me.

Hey I just may have found a solution to this problem; it may require some YYCHR work however. That's if your still having this problem.

Edited: I hope this isn't considered bumping.

(giant quote box.....)
Anyway..... I am gonna (probably by the time you read this, it should be up) my newest update. It is gonna be the finished Second Area up to and including Castle #2. Try it if you get th time (btw fixed alot of glitches).

HEY!!! NEW FEEDBACK FROM SOMEONE ELSE! This are comments I like to see. Which red tree background? On Yoshi's Post? Sure (but it may be just you who doesn't like it, because I get alot of positive response on that exact palette, but whatever)

I know I may sound a bit like a noob for saying this but...... why are my exits not working on my overworld? I have one set working, but another where Mario walks on like nothing is there. 1 of 2 things happen with this:
1. The exit resets even if I save
2. I have the exits set properly, but it is just ignored

NOTE: I set them up the same way (but different names) as my first pair of exits, which work perfectly. They are the same set too, just one is the exit that looks like it is under the ledge. help? (P.S. please PM me your response if you can....)

This one:

It looks OK, but I think it'd be a little too bright to the person playing it. The same goes for the background on the title screen, but if you don't want to change it, it's not a problem, since it isn't too bad.

Like I said, I may change it, but barely. I like it, everyone I asked has liked it (other than you.... beside the point), and it suits the theme in my mind. I do understand where you are coming from though.

Have you tried using an empty save slot?

yea. But it still won't work (no matter what I do, when I change my overworld I start a new file.)

I asked this earlier in the thread, but it seems to have gotten forgotten....
I have a problem with my exits from the overworld to submap, where even though one pair is set properly and works, another (set the same way just different names)won't work. And occasionally it will reset but all the time when I go to enter the submap mario walks on past the exit even though there aren't any paths there. Anybody able to help?

@ steeledminer,

You have to make sure the path lines up EXACTLY with the level tile, or else it will mess up, just like what is happening with you. If that doesn't work, consult someone else, but good luck
:)

they are lined up exactly, but mario just keeps walking up, and reentering the same tile.

Maybe you chose the wrong option in the "direction to enter from" box.

I have, and it is set up the same way as the other identical except name as another exit I have that works.

Hi guys, How do I make a custom title screen? And no, not making custom mario moves for the title screen, I mean actually editing it, and replacing it with my own title and graphics. Thanks if you can help :D

Go to your OW Editor>File>Title Screen>Load Title Screen
Then edit it like your overworld, or levels. Hope this helps.

Hey, I am trying to add custom sprites using Romi's Sprite tool, but I can't seem to get it to work. It says I need a spritelist but I can't find it, but when I just add the sprite to the same file, it says it contains invalid data. How can I get this to work?
(PS I have seen tutorials on YouTube but they are for Sprite Tool 1.35 and I can't find it on SMWCentral)
If you can explain to me how to find ST 1.35 instead I would be happy.

You need to create a sprite list yourself, a text file named whatever you want (like sprites.txt). That is what you put the sprite numbers and *.cfg files in. So like, for example:
Originally posted by The Spritetool Readme

1A venus.cfg
1B boomerang_bro.cfg
1C boomerang.cfg
20 para_beetle.cfg
C4 diag_bill.cfg
D2 generic.cfg
Then you point Spritetool to that *.txt file.

It said I inserted them successfully, but i can't find the sprites in lunar magic... What happened?
