I had an idea for a factory level.
Igneous Industries: a level where various objects (possibly keys with changed gfx) are on conveyor belts leading into lava pools where they would (hypothetically) be smelted down into raw materials or something. Hdma would definitely be cool here and maybe a "turn off the heat generator" gimmick as well. I dunno its just a thought...
I'm thinking that we should have some kind of super paper Mario styled cut-scene after each world (or every two worlds). So you have Norveg with his main minions (doc croc and blimp duck) and he orders them about and such. This way we could have some character development with Norveg and co.
Also, I like the idea of bowser as a sub-boss/comic relief character mainly because it doesn't bend his personality that much.
Maybe in the beach/reef world we could have Bowser pop up and comp lain about how Mario is ruining his peaceful vacation. We could then build off of this by having Bowser as the villain for world 4a. After this,Bowser realizes that norveg is disrupting the peace just as much as Mario. Bowser then decides that Mario has "had enough" and leaves him alone just before/during world 4b.
Also, I think that the idea of the desert and oriental worlds being at the split sounds like a good idea.
Don't forget, this is a collaborative effort. If you have no level and would like to work on one, why not ask to help out with someone else's? Hopefully some level claimers will be willing to share the love, yeah?
I have to admit: this quote definitely got my hopes up *looks around* now if only I could find somebody to help...
Poisonous Panic - A level in the treetops with rising poisonous water.You need to climb the treetops quickly to run from the poisonous liquid.
You could also expand this by putting it in the sky world: You would have to escape on clouds while fleeing toxic gas from Norveg's factory or maybe even blimp duck zeppelin...I am totally seeing nsmb world 8-6 here...
Okay I'm not sure what happened but the music is only playing one track. I thought it was the recording but it kinda messed up on my version of the hack... If anyone knows what the problem is by any chance, we'd appreciate your help
Edit: nvm its fixed.
Hey guys, I have some bad news regarding a certain hack and a certain error that may have something to do with a blue background... yeah... So until we get THAT figured out, I'll see what I can salvage as presentable content.
@Luigi370: lol no I don't speak Polish...
*storms off and throws keyboard against the nearest wall*
well, I can't really be pushy here, I mean I respect your opinion and all being that I'm new to the site. So whatever, I wish you the best of luck with your hack.
Uh-oh, now I'm starting to feel like I may have started something that's getting just a bit out of hand. If he wanted me to join, then I'd be making a level now otherwise it's completely up to him in regards to who joins and who doesn't. At this point, I don't really care. You don't need to fight about it, maybe I DO suck and I should be active on the site more to show off what I've done. I asked, and that was that, do we really need to argue about it?
I think doing the hub would be pointless unless the designer(s) went all out on it. If we had maybe an arcade, multiple npcs (smwc jokes would be nice) and maybe a jukebox somewhere where one can listen to music from points that they have reached, I for one would be all to happy to go there after completing the game. However, we need something to motivate the player to go there or else there is no point in a hub. Maybe it could be an area containing a clue or clues relating to a certain special world? Also,we could make it so as the game progresses, items become available throughout the hub (for free). By doing this, we would be easing the player into the hub while showing off its coolio asmish features. However, the trick in this case would be making it fair and giving the shop a purpose even in the games later stages. I think a custom power up or additional mini-games could also be unlocked/bought but it would be a bit of a stretch...
