When I wanted to run Romi's Spritetool - v1.40 some minutes ago, my
antivirus software (kaspersky) showed up with a malware warning:

sprite_tool.exe UDS:DangerousObject.Multi.Generic

Well, file went to the quarantine. After restoring, the tool did not
start and an error occured, saying I wouldn't have rights to use this
application (something like that). I tried to start it with admin-rights
but this did not work.

What's happening? Last time, maybe two weeks ago, it worked fine.
Does anybody know something about this situation?

i created an exception rule, now my AV doesn't show up but the error still occurs when starting spritetool:

"no access to path/file. maybe insufficient right..."

Hi everybody,

I'm presenting "The Shit-Journey: Mario's Jointventure".
It's a co-production with a friend of mine (The Papa).
We created it side by side so that Papa was able to learn
from my limited smw-hacking knowledge.

It's a one level hack. You will need savestates at some
passages. I would say it is challenging but never kaizo-like.
We implemented a little story, custom music and selfmade
gfx/exgfx in some places. Some patches were added, too.

Now have fun!! THX for playing :)

Very nice work!

The idea of such a color scheme isn't that innovative, but what you made
out of it, is a unique pearl of smw-hacking (if you ask me) and the
custom music couldn't fit better. Therefor I really don't care about the
little midway-flag-glitch. I'll try to beat this hack without savestates
later, i promise ;)

won't be an update for the demo, because I don't want to reveal too much.

Don't hesitate to use something for your desktop. If you like to have
something in different resolution - just say something :)

honestly, we don't care about if this hack will be accepted or not.
It was our intention that you can't "win" or complete this level.
The death at the last screen refers to the message which is communicated
by this hack - drugs are bad. After this excessive glorifying of drugs
during the level we thought it would be nice to implement some kind
of seriousness (and some fun/irony) at the end.

I agree with you - the passages from your first two screenshots can be
really annoying, but we passed it quite fast when testing, so we
thought it would be okay for the player to find out the right timing.

Hi everybody, long time no see.. now I'm presenting: The Shroomland

It's a very small hack. I planed a larger one, but because of time
and motivation I'll never finish a bigger hack, I guess :P

It's short (7 exits), but depending on the players skill, it should take some
time to beat all the levels, find all yoshi-coins and little secrets
(if you don't betray yourself and play without savestates ;) ).
I guess the difficulty is moderate, not easy but never unfair.

I tried to create unique styles for every level by mixing original
SMW graphics and implemented some new ideas (specials) of mine.
The result is a classic but new look with custom music banging.

I would really appreciate if you had some feedback for me. Please
tell me if there are bugs/glitches, graphic- or gameplay mistakes
(I played the Hack several times but maybe I didn't notice everthing).
Is the difficulty okay (too easy/hard)? Could the written text be
improved (I'm not a native english speaker)...

tell me what's on your mind :)

Here are some more details (don't open the spoiler, if you want to
explore the Shroomland unbiased)

Main facts:

- An optional Level (but it would be an advantage to beat it..)
- One main level
- A final level (quite a puzzle level)
- A Credit Level
- Three optional bonus levels (relict of larger-hack-plan)
- Pseudo-story (not very creative, but it's enough for it's purpose, I think)
- Custom music (final fantasy)
- Owerworld-edit
- Original SMW graphics only (new arranged, mixed and colored)

The background palette here looks really strange and out of touch to me. Also in the first screenshot, the bone Mario is standing looks strange considering the outside is lighter then the inside though it is not bad.



You're right. I wasn't sure if this underground bg is a bit "over the top" - but I decided to take this bright orange because of the lava-look/light ^^

In the other level, you mentioned: because the level takes place at night I used darker, less saturated colors and I flipped the shading of the objects (bushes, bones..). If you look at the "gravestones" you can see this shading (in original the dark parts were bright, and the bright parts were dark -> shadow). I wanted to imitate the less light at night (by the moon).

Some of the pipes have different colors, Like for example In the bottom row the pipe is blue but in the top the pipe is green


these pipes are "special". if you get stuck in a level (because something you need to proceed is missing for example), these 2-colored pipes take you out of the level (so you haven't got to kill yourself).

you would know that if you had read the info-boxes ^^

i was looking forward to some puzzle action.. but don't know what to do in the first level - some crazy glitch to not die by falling down!?

I'm not a super specialist in using glitches..

designissues:


1.

you can throw the key up and swim up fast to finish the level - no need of the rest (Yoshi etc). you should build a higher "muncher-tower"

2.
I don't know about this exactly, but I heard of a "p-switch-jump-glitch". if it is possible to use a switch to jump higher, you won't need the springboard in the yellow switch palace.

3.
I've finished the level "memory error" but I don't know if I solved it like it was ment to be. I'm irritated of the shell and the last blue p-switch near the keyhole (because I didn't need both). I took Yoshi, activated every switch, but took one blue with me. with the right speed and timing I was able to jump over to the key. I double-grabbed the key and the blue p-switch and finished the level.

4.

this doesn't look right ^^
I guess the plan was, that you have to feed lil Yoshi with koopa, 2 shells and a coin (glitched of course). but it was no problem to take adult-Yoshi with you into this screen.

5.
fortress "what the chuck"
when you jump off a koopa, you can reach the mushroom, so you don't need Yoshi to get there!

6.

I don't know what to do here!?
