The lighthouse could use more shading around the edges to look like its more 3Dish, but my real complaint is with the background. The horizon at sea does not have waves at the very edge!

Ughh...
The graphics in the SMW ROM are compressed - thus, you cannot edit them directly in YY-CHR and similar programs. You have to extract the graphics, edit them in YY-CHR, then put them back into your ROM.

Just use Zelda Classic. That's essentially a LOZ editor on some steroid-like substance that lets you do SNES-esque stuff with it. Google it. It's awesome.

Before this post ends (and to avoid any suspicion of advertising a program I use), does anyone know why several editors (most notably M3I) are DOS-only?

I sometimes draw out stuff on the pad of graph paper I bring to school (and that I never use for schoolwork). I sketch out Zelda Classic dungeons (Google it if you want to find out what it is), levels (and sometimes overworlds) for some of my earlier hacks and currently I'm drawing a Metroidish map that has a ridiculous amount of door types (15?! - but one's a door that locks behind you, and five don't regenerate their shielding) and I might make in GM if I actually learn how to do stuff like keeping weapons, having multiple rooms that you can freely access without it looking odd, etc. and has each 'screen' as one square on the pad.

Wow, I spent the most time explaining the thing I've spent the least time on. If I ever get round to it, I might just post it here.

I'd like another DS Mario platformer. I've already beated NSMB and YIDS, so I'd like to see something new along the lines of those coming up soon.
Mario Galaxy 2? I doubt it. It was only released last fall, and so far there's only been 1 main Super Mario game on the 3(non-portable) 3-D consoles.

And I think the Game Boy line transmogrified into the DS somewhere along the line.

Pieguy1472: Remove the black on it and replace it with the darkest gray in the set. Then it will look much better (or at least I think it will...)
WA: It will look far more like it's the night if you darken the foreground a bit (but not so much that it looks bad...).
MATTAN: Personally, I prefer the original spikes in the ghost houses.


Someday, I might actually post some the castle GFX I've made (plus shots from 1-4).

This may not be the place for this sort of thing, but...
Here's a fact about Metroid (yes, the NES one) editing: using object 4 for doors overrides the scrolling change that Object 3 does, and allows you to make horizontal corridors link up with each other directly without any problems.

InvisibleCoinBlock: There's a stray pixel on the right-hand side. Really nice otherwise.

And what emulator (or, if it's ZSNES, what setting) gives that smoothened-out look to the screenshot?

Jaklub: The graphics for when you hit the question block differ from the question blocks graphics you replaced the original ones with (which I like a lot more). And having detailed (well, relatively) sprites and part of a foreground and relatively undetailed background and part of the foreground does not look nice at all.
