This is just frankly very much lower quality than Supertails' version from 2011, in particular the bass being really awful with that panning.

Description: This is the song played in the original NES Tetris,
as Track A. This version seems to be rather 'synth-y' and accurate to the original, which would make it a good choice for shorter levels.
Obsoleted by Sinister Pixel's version.

ffmqbattle - LOUD but very well executed otherwise
nutshack remix - p good, a couple small bits i dont care for but solid overall
skyhigh - not too bad, mixing is a bit weird and i hate that snare sample but decent effort
expander - those arps are really bad lol. also your chord samples sound like undertale thats not a criticism i just thought i would note it. but it's okish? i guess?
1989 - an attempt was made
happy birthday - meh. mixing is really wack and instrumentation is bad but its not like super offensive
9party - not feeling it sry
honnou - this starts like it has potential but then its jsut really underwhelming. then it gets almost good again. but never great. mixing is p bad and song is overall quite empty
wily 3 - really empty and unfulfilling
blast hornet - LOUD and uhh really weird sound design. my left ear hurts.

There is no #default or #optimized tag included, meaning the song cannot be used in game. Please read the readme for things like this. Also, please make sure your file names are not misspelled when you submit. The song currently does not insert due to a typo in the sample path. On a similar note, don't include a higher level "samples" folder - just include the folder containing the samples itself.

could any of the participants have sounded any more appreciative that the judges took the time out of their lives to play and review a hundred and fifteen goddamn levels

also wow I can't believe some people had different experiences playing your level than yourself, is that what constitutes "stuck up" nowadays

if your level causes enough confusion that the concept can't be understood by multiple judges then maybe it isnt a good level

The main cause of slowdown in the current version of AMK is due to an extreme ineffiency in the code. I don't remember the exact details, but I recall it having to do with some property or something being updated way more often than necessary. This was addressed in the unfortunate lost cause that was the AMK beta, so you could get in contact with Codec for more details on that. In terms of MML, the main things that seem to cause it are
a) high tempo, as we all know
b) anything pitch-bend related as you assumed (and I think maybe volume bend related too, less sure on that one)
c) rapid and/or simultaneous instrument changes (this one is a pain in the ass lol)

Maybe it'll one day be fixed again........a man can dream, right?

In terms of actually reducing slowdown...I think that might be one of those train-track dilemmas haha. The slowdown does seem to be less noticeable in-game in general at least, which is nice.
