I actually never gave up on a hack surprisingly. I hate quitting at things. I like the satisfaction of completing something, especially if it is time consuming and hard work. I made a ton of 1 level hacks back in 07' just for myself. When I was a basic vanilla what-to-do-next? creator. My first ever hack I submitted was Mario's Mad Adventure I believe... Not a bad hack, not a great hack. I keep trying to top myself each game I make.
I started working on MKM2 maybe 6 months ago and have done around 60 levels since then and am still working on adding more levels. I especially won't quit this hack. Why put forth all that work for a dud hack? I am determined to finish this by fall C3.
If you used sprite tool and inserted it, it should work. Just make sure in lunar magic you have the "add sprites" window on. Then press the INSERT button. In the box that says Command type in the number you gave the sprite. Then in the Extra Info type either 2 or 3. Most likely 2. Now try. If the sprite works you've done it correctly. Now just add in the ExGFX for the sprite and you should be good to go.
When you insert the FG ExGFX for the doomship in a map16 page they turn out fine. But when I play the level the doomship graphics are just blue squares.
Is that what you mean?
Because if that's the case just press F9 in the map16 editor and it saves the pages.
NamelessProtagonist, that's an outstanding idea. I love it! I think this should certainly be considered for SMWC 2.0. One of the best ideas for ratings. It gives people a chance to see the average rating in all aspects of the game before playing it.
I would like to change andy_k_250's Big Bullet Bill from a sprite to a shooter. I was wondering if there was a certain code to add or replace in the .asm file?
Brilliant Idea. Now, someone set up a hamachi tread. SNN knows some details. We can have cheap tournaments, or just plain 2 player fun. Or, maybe I'm stupid and I should stop with this idea.
Hah that's funny yet it seems possible. Someone just has to create a Hamachi network and name it SMWCentral or something. Then people can join and can just message each other if they want to play. Imagine having hundreds of people in one network and they can play with whoever they want. I actually like this idea, even though it's far-fetched.
But yeah having a removal log for everything seems like a good idea.
Wouldn't it be neat to have the SMWCentral Universe play hacks online with each other? I think you can have up to 5 people playing snes games online at once. This way if you feel like playing some co-op just log into Hamachi, join the SMW network and ask someone if they want to play by messaging them on Hamachi (Kind of like IM). You can read more about it HERE.
Basically, all the dialog from hitting info boxes won't show up anymore. It's just a black rectangle now. No text in there at all! All the palettes are correct too. This is annoying since it all displayed correctly before. What happened?
It's just really weird. All that was pointed out in this thread is correct. I did save the overworld, my palettes are correct, layer 3 is not disabled and it does have this problem on every level.
I inserted all the patches into the ROM before it was modified. The text used to show up in the box before, but now it won't since I've edited the ROM a lot more. I never did a hex edit to the ROM either. my ROM is still 3MB. Lunar expand didn't help either. Backups FTW
I assume use ASM. Or you can edit your main GFX file and delete the graphics with the [!] for the OW, although you will still hear them flying away from the switch palace. If you don't want that you should ask for a hex edit code. But I don't really edit hex so I wouldn't know, but I'm sure someone else would.
Ever work on your hack so hard that eventually you can't think straight and your eyes are dried out from the consistency of non-movement? This is happening because I'm desperately trying to finish my hack off. I'm not doing the rush-rush-rush gotta finish type of thing. No. I want it to look appealing and still be fun. The past 3 days I've worked probably over half of that time. (Yes, yes I know what would be said). But actually I've made quite a bit of progress . Have you ever worked so hard you get frustrated by the littlest thing?
Is it a vertical climbing level? Because if it is, try having the entrance on an even numbered screen (00,02,04,06,08,0A,etc.). It makes it easier for a BG to appear without glitching. Hey it works for me.
