Hey guys.
Today I want to show you my 1-Level-Hack which is called Dark Forest.
It's a kind of demo for my full hack (maybe the name will be "Mario goes dreggelig"). It's completely Vanilla, no ExGFX, Music or Sprites. Tell me what you think about it. The ips-File (Dark Forest.ips) you can found in my files. Please tell me what you think. mrdeppelman

A (german) LP-Video of it:

Hey guys. Welcome to the thread about my new hack: Mario's fancy trip.

It will be a kind of puzzling hack, that means I try to make the levels non-linear, long and challenging. I just finished the first level, so here are some screenshots:

It's a forest level, so here's the start of it. With epic graphics by Underway!

A very little, purple 3-screen-cave, where you have to take the springboard and bring it back outside. With a background from Earthworm Jim.

Another little 5-screen-room, this time with brambles (epic graphics by Papermario94). There you will need the springboard (of course there are reset doors everywhere!).

Some athletic things here, also. At the end of this little room, you get a blue p-switch.

Back in the forest, you need the p-switch to get here.

The last part of this level features a little on-off-switch puzzle.

Almost finished...

...and some coinblocks at the end of the level.
Please tell me:
- how I could name the level
- your opinion
- tips
And finally, sorry for my bad english :D
Just finished the first sub-overworld:

Things need to be fixed here:
The ledder background's different colour (I know how to do), the cutoff at the right (maybe just delete this dark strip and the white strip in the water) and ... tell me if you find another cutoff or something...
Again sorry for my bad english :D
@Wormer21 Trough the whole sublevel, but it's just 3 screens, so I think it isn't a problem.
@Lui37 Thank you :D
@hotsos120 Thank you, too #w{:>}
@Lotica Thanks :)

And, just to post something today: Here's a screenshot from the second level, a city (the tower on the overworld):

And here is another one:

I changed the overworld-palette:

(ignore the level name)

Hack status: 1,2 / ? Levels finished
@Wormer21 It's a download. You're right, maybe there are too many windows.

Anyways, here are a few new screenshots of the "forgotten city":

Some noteblocks here.

Some climbing nets there.

Give me a review!
I don't like that "desert-sunset-palette". It's to greenish in my opinion.
Looks awesome. I love the background layer mix.

Because of the bad city level, I lost the motivation to work on this hack. Mods, please close this thread.

Nobody wrote something yet? Well, I do:

Screenshot 1:
Do you use this as a real part of a level? If, then don't do it. Level 0 is the bonusgame, where Mario goes if he has 100+ stars. If it's the edited bonusgame, it's... kinda strange.

Screenshot 2:
Wow, nice custom graphics there. It's not part of real level, right? Could you please tell me what custom sprites you put in there?

Screenshot 3:
First, about the palette. Background palette is very well made. FG palette is good, too, but I would change that strange looking green.
You should also add some more decorations in that level, but for your first level (?) you made, it's good enough not to have just flat land. Now, for me, it's kinda sensless that you put a green star block at the beginning of a level, I think you know why. Also, there's cutoff at the bullet bill shooter. Last thing: you forgot to place a sprite at the bullet bill shooter. Go to: Sprites / Generators / Bullet Bill Generator. It needs to be placed at the object.

Level 106:
Again: Good palette, no decorations. Don't put a feather and a fire flower without any challenges to get at the beginning of a level. If you just put something away, a mushroom is enough. Next, that 3-Up-Moon is way, and I mean WAY TO EASY TO GET! What's the challenge? Climbing up a vine?
Next, where's the second vine for? Kinda sensless, too. And the fish? Without water?
And finally, I'm confused about that whole bunch of custom sprites at the end. Tell me what they are for.

All in all, good work for a first hack! Keep up!
Achso, du bist Deutscher :D Jetzt hab ich dir schon 'ne englische PM geschrieben xD
Gut, also nun zur Sache:
Es könnte daran liegen, dass du zur falschen Sache eingestellt hast.
Du musst die Richtung des Levels, wenn man es geschafft hat, einstellen (Direction to enable when *** exit is used). Dann kann Mario nach dem jeweiligen Exit in die Richtung laufen. Wenn du willst, dass er schon von Anfang an in die Richtung kann, dann musst du das am rechten Rand bei "Enable ***" einstellen, einfach das Häkchen reinmachen. Frag mich, wenn's immer noch nicht klappt.
Hey guys,
And welcome to my new hack thread!
After I gave up working on my old hack, I decided to do something new. But I kept the level name: Mario's fancy trip.

This will be a hard hack, but not a Kaizo Hack. It's something between Kaizo and normal. Now for the screenies:

LEVEL 1 - MUNCHERVINE PLAINS

As you can see, a grassland level. The level name explains itself.

The end of this level.

I also made a video of this level:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DZef9TDklYY

A LEVEL FROM WORLD 3 - SPIKY SCROLLING

A level which is both a scrolling level and a puzzle.

I said: "Hard Hack", so you need a double grap for the secret exit.

A LEVEL FROM THE LAST WORLD - TINY NINJI FOREST

Maybe it isn't looking like that, but this ghosthouse-forest-mixed level is very hard. It's about spinjumping on lotus flowers and other things.

Another screenshot of this level.

A (NOT FINISHED) LEVEL FROM THE LAST WORLD - BIG BLAARG'S VOLCANO

Just a preview. The second part of the level is about rocks falling from the top.

PLEASE TELL ME YOUR OPINION AND SORRY FOR MY BAD ENGLISH!!!
@Wormer21
Thank you. I'm going to change it.
And yes, I'm forcing the player to do a double grab. I thought this is OK, because it was also used in other hacks, for example in Mario gives up.

@Magiluigi
Thanks. I'm not going to shout anymore.

@EvilGuy0613
Thank you, too.

No new screenshots for today, but tomorrow I'm going to show you the first suboverworld.
Hey guys.
Yes, I started pretty much threads... but I always lost motivation to finish my hacks. But this time it will be different, because I do this hack as a little Collab with the cool guy "Kebabchilla".
I've got very, very much screenies, yet, so I won't add a description for every screenshot this time :P
So, Let's-A-Go!:

Please, RATE & COMMENT!
@sandinderbadewanne98 and @Wormer21
Thank you very much!

By the way, here's our progress:

Levels: 5,5 (Mum's house, The Beginning, Sky bridge, Fruity forest, Green Switch Palace finished; currently working on a beach level, which hasn't got a name yet)
Overworld: World 1 (Submap), World 2+3+5 (Main Overworld)
Music is inserted in the finished levels.

EDIT: Got some new screenshots to show you. They are from the beach level I'm working on.

This level will include an underwater - part.
@TheRPGLPer
Thank you. ^^

@Austin
Thank you. Also, I think that blocks of coins are OK in a switch palace. What do you mean with "different corner tiles"?

@Detroit Lions Deity
Wow, thanks, don't know what to say ^^. The urchin goes left and right, you can spin jump on him. I think that's nothing bad.

@Wormer21
Yes, I'm going to add decoration. But yet I haven't found anything fitting. I don't want something like bushes, because this foreground should feel... rocky. Maybe I'm going to add tiles from the vanilla cave background, this should be great I think.

@DiscoMan
Thank you, too.
@Austin
Oh, now I know what you mean. Well, yes, they're overused. Maybe I should really try to use some others...

By the way, I like how active this forum is after existing just 1 day. Our hack seems to be not that bad... ^^
