I like the double jump pikazz. Looks like an interesting concept.


Another tileset being worked... I know there are parts of this that dont look right so any tips would be good. But no mentioning the bright blocks cause I know they need toning down already.

Anyways, I'm glad to see another brand new character starring in a SMW hack, hopefully. It's sort of neat to see one in that style - he's transparent and you can see the little blue flame in his head.

His animation is fluid - no complaints. I also like how you made him always have the double-jump ability Schwa made. That spices up the gameplay a little, and w00t for an original story. It's one I think we can all relate to, if you think deeply about it.

How's the ending going to be, though? You might want to find some workaround so he doesn't end up rescuing the princess out of the blue, e.g. have the credits roll and skip the whole "Princess falling from the clown car, Mario's adventure is over, fireworks, yay" scene. If you can't do that, then maybe change the princess into a living power star that would be the final piece Flame needs, and remove the blushing frames and change Peach's kissing frame into a victory pose or something so it doesn't seem weird. Peach is in GFX0D, GFX0F, GFX22, GFX24, GFX26, and GFX2E, and she uses palette 8. I'd try to stay away from using the colors that change depending on whether or not you are Fire Mario (or Fire Flame - Fire Flame?!)

You'll be changing "Mario" to "Flame" so take a look at GFX28.bin in 2bpp GB mode so you can change the Mario in the status bar rather than using the Status Bar Editor (since that won't affect the Mario in the course clear screen.)

Also, considering you're using backgrounds with many colors, you may want to use the fade-out patch so that the colors will all dim when you reach the goal point. (Back up your work before applying it, though.)

Well, I can't wait to see your Yoshi replacement. I like what I see so far and I hope you go through with the project - it has plenty of heart and soul in it already.

Looks interesting. I've always had a certain respect for hacks that have original characters. But the palette for those arches doesn't look very good. Also, as stated before, the fade fix patch would be a good investment of your time.

I thought I open a new thread since nobody could really help me in the "ASM/Hex/"whatever Help Thread".

So, I'm gonna having trouble again, this time with a 32x32 beezo. I downloaded the "Yellow Giant Shyguy", copied it's graphics routine and replaced the beezo's graphics routine with it.

I changed the tilemap to display other tiles and everything's working fine except for the fact that it SHOULD animate. It should switch between two frames but it stays the whole time in the first frame. Really everything's fine except for the animation.

I don't know any idea how to fix this, I changed nearly every bite, I asked Dispari, Boing and some other guys, nobody knew the answer. So I ask officially: Can somebody else here help me?

I'll support it, but I don't put userbars in my sig - only my profile. Not to mention, the other day when I was up at 3 AM playing SSB64 and listening to random Touhou songs, I had an epiphany and I realized what Flame is really about.

Flame isn't minimalist work - he's actually a very deep character. If you think about it, Flame is the work of a visionary - people like to judge people based on appearances, but all you can see in Flame (not counting the outline and eyes) is a burning fire - the passion that burns within, a longing to achieve something - that's what Flame wants to be seen for and remembered for, not his looks or some other petty reason. It's what's inside that counts. Flame's goal is to get home, which in essence, is what we all want. After the hardships of everyday life, there is no place like home. Flame strives for an enjoyable life. He's a character we can all relate to. Flame is the kid who reads his books and wants to graduate. Flame is the hard worker hoping for a raise. Flame is you. Flame is me. Flame is the trees that grow to the stars. That is why, in my opinion, Flame is one of the greatest characters ever to be in a SMW hack. I am Kyoseron...and I approve this message.

In all seriousness, Pikamaxi, is that what you were thinking when you created Flame? I can see you writing children's stories some day. You should DEFINITELY keep the story and Flame as they are because there's so much symbolism involved.
